  1. A recovery plan which has a take you to your Holliday destination AND recover you home afterwards👍 Pete
  2. I am not surprised that the volumes drawn from the tank are relatively small. When one consider`s the Volume below the diaphram. The stroke of the pump will determine how much is drawn from the system so bearing in mind that the pipe run, which also contains at least 2 sections of Hose, with the potential to draw air, and the need to draw the fuel from whatever the tank level over a level 3 to 4" above the top of the tank, add in the fact the tank venting is often via a small hole in the Cap?, which in itself could lead to a reduction of pressure below atmospheric, ensuring the suction side works harder. Add in the need to keep the output pressure below that which overcomes the float in the carburator, leading to fuel leakage issues. This being often adjusted by reducing the stroke, the conundrum is the balance between both needs. Ie; the aim being to deliver suficient fuel at higher demand, against the need not to overfuel at Idle?. That is a lot of parameter to service inorder to square the circle. Pete.

    Replacement tyres

I could be wrong, but I thought Blackcircles Priced to have the tyres Fitted/Ballanced?. Pete.
  4. Another vote for street view, saved my A*** a couple of times in the motorhome(s) In recent years. Was`nt available back when I was on the Lorries Though☹️. and 13-4, wo`nt go under 11-6 In Shrewsbury😁. A mistake you only make once!. Pete
  5. I heard one "voice" --- Ozzy Osbourne?. Left F`ing turn, Right F`ing Turn, Make a wrong turn? and it was something like Turn around you W`er Etc;. Funny when you first hear it. But boring after the first 50 miles I would suspect. On the star wars theme. Darth Vader, might be interesting.? Pete
  6. Sat Nav? (AKA Sat NAG!). Brilliant kit, right up to the point where it wants you to take the Route known to have a 10ft-6inch bridge in a Lorry 14ft 3!!. Hence the Truckers Atlas in the motorhome. Michellin maps arn`t that much better having got me into a French Village with a route out requiring a sharp right turn, 32ft and a Trailer!!.
  7. Steel fox wedges? Ie very thin tool steel wedges. A staple in most fitters tool boxes back in my “yoof” Pete
  8. Lots of "Drift" when you`ve lost your main propulsion, and for "N" hrs your at mercy of whatever the wind sea and currents decide, Even more so when the "lee shore" is less than 2 Mile away, Brown underwear is the order of the day! Pete

    Sump plug leak

Now there’s a blast from the past, until, and even after, the introduction of ptfe tape, the old pipe fitters used nothing else but hemp and white lead paste “boss white” was a staple on ship engine store orders. I still have a tin in the garage? Pete
  10. Pedant warning. The primary navigation time instrument is. Not a clock, they are far more accurate are technically chronometers. Yawn😁!. In my day the ships radio operator would put the Greenwich time signal on the tannoy system at noon. For a check, IF he could find a signal. edit I see John got ahead of me😄 Pete
  11. This is the sort of chart, used to make my eye`s glaze over, The Nav; dept had books of similar. The Second Officer usually doubled as "Navigator", in the time before the universal introduction of "Sat Nav". It was his duty to check the course and position daily using "noon" sights, and plot the position of the ship as near as humanly possible. Being my "offwatch" I had many occasion to go and chat whilst he made that and then got authorisation from the Capt; to correct course. One such was brilliant at it, and Metorology too, I learned a lot talking to him. We "ginger beers" just had to make sure the damn thing kept going!!😁
  12. I am of that age group that still THINKS in "imperial". However I`ve had to work in both most of my Life. Bar`s, Kp/Hr, psi, temp in degC, and F. And was doing my Marine Qualification`s when the "official" change from Imperial to SI, was in effect, so I started in Imperial and had to quickly get to speed with SI and metrication.
  13. Snap!!. This comes up on Motorhome website. Once acquired and affixed to the vehicle's windscreen, the sticker is valid for the entire life of the vehicle.28 Feb 2023. Interestingly?. Would one necessarily need to get a new sticker if a "personal plate" was transfered to another vehicle?. How would the French authorities know?. Connundrum?. Pete
  14. Co-incidently, Quite a few years ago I took the Huge Mudflaps off my American R-V, (Replaced with a full Rear skirt, to keep the trailer Clean(er)). Large sections of said flaps are now between the Tub`s and chassis on 13/60. Support`s the reasoning "never throw `owt away"!.👍 Pete
  15. Still About?. https://www.ziebartworld.com/en/service/rust-protection Was always an expensive "option", I think Father had his Second Anglia "Super" done. And it cost a serious amount of money back in the Mid/Late 60`s. That car is no longer on the DVLA database, so I expect it`s gone the way of many more, despite the "treatment". Pete
  16. I had a look at this a while back. Typically what is called the "up front payment" for the same model/equipment has a £1400+ premium for an E-V as oposed to Petrol Model. For example a New Peugeot 208 E-V. (the mobility example used above) is £8,500 more than the equivalent Petrol variant. Pete
  17. Cafe at the top of the Hill?. On the old A25?. Vitesse used to whiz up it, back in the 80`s. on the way the Redhill Before they opended that M25 Section. Pete
  18. I suspect we`ve made our last "overseas" trip`s. Pushing 80 in August. I expect that all my Insurances are going to HIKE. 3 weeks in the USA Xmas 2002. Cost close to 2 grand, For the two of us in travel insurance. Now Maureen has Lyphoma, I doubt they will even quote?. Hopefully the Motorhome will get some use, fresh MOT last week👍. We`ve had a couple of midweek Jaunts already and I fancy going back the Scotland at some point. and a revisit to Wales too could be on the cards maybe?. Pete
  19. Paint colours are a total PITA. One gross example being A Ford Metalic Blue circa 1980, which had 26 variants!. The Valencia, supplied to myself from Club Shop is, for me, more green than blue, when Tested across a variety of base colours.! Pete
  20. So did that ever figure in the calculation over the hidden cost of going electric?. Report over the weekend stated that sales of new e-v`s are down as oposed to a year ago, conversely Diesel Car sales are actually up?. The "pundits" are saying the lack of charging infrastructure, cost of home chargers, and the increase in Electricity prices, coupled with the threat of the Zero VED being stopped, is to blame? Who would take bet`s against the 2030 deadline being Stretched by a few years or even a decade or two, not being on the future agenda?. Pete
  21. Subject comes up on Motorhome/Camper sites regularly. Mine is quite happy on the back seat but I too would be looking at a restraint system for a open top car. Year`s ago you could get a Net that attached to seat backs?, and the rear seat restraints. I suppose a Harness clipped to a strong point is the easiest solution?. Typical are these on the Pets at Home site :- https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/dog/dog-collars-harnesses-leads-and-tags/dog-seatbelts-and-car-harnesses Pete
  22. Are the distances between pivot point and Bonnet the same both sides?. I ask because after I re-assemble mine, it looked "wrong" and the distance was 1/4"+ difference?. I put a Jack in and opened the gap. looked a lot better after that. They way the bonnet support loops back is to my mind somewhat suspect in terms of strength?. Pete
  23. Puts me in mind, of the guy who tried it, and crushed his Mrs against the garage wall. I think he did time for either manslaughter or wounding?. Pete
  24. Got a bit of an update on that. Rang to see if the Resturaunt was still operational, which it is, asked about pitches, As you do, to be told it`s decision by higher authority (Gaffers) and allegedly to do with "electricity". My theory is when it does open again, maybe expanded under a L-A licence?. the Electric will be Metered to each pitch. This site, often comes up with pitches?. https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk Pete
  25. Considered Bonding one in?. Some of the modern adhesives will stick S***t to a blanket or anything else for that matter? Pete
