  1. Goggles, and a Flat cap, back to front.๐Ÿ‘ Pete
  2. I told SWMBO to avert her eye`s!!.๐Ÿ˜ She just said she`d seen it all before?. Anyone know what that was all about? Pete
  3. FORD`s???. Donโ€™t ask. OK well. I think the score is 14(ish) in total, not counting the 2 Company Escort Mk3`s, Base Models, as "befits" oneโ€™s lowly status as perceived by management. Started with a 1955, Ford Thames 5cwt Van, Mk 1 Consul, Mk2 Consul, Two Mk2 Escort estates, a Mk 3 Cortina Estate, 2 Litre Capri 2 Ghia in Orange, Two series2 Granada`s 2,8 estate and a cracking White Ghia X pack with full leather interior. Most of the others, essentially Mk 1 Escorts where "acquired" via โ€œfriendsโ€ in the โ€œtradeโ€, for conversion to rally cars. I was an enthusiast rather than that competent but it was a lot of fun, even if hugging trees on forest stages!!. Got too old for that sort of shenanigans. So retired (Dis?)gracefully and built an old bike up for a pile of parts. Pete
  4. I usually go in a boiler suit with grubby hands. Trade sir,? Of course?.๐Ÿ˜ Pete
  5. Sadly!!๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ, I have the T shirt for that one, tried the both feet method and failed spectacularly. I have a seal, just no Screen!. Pete
  6. Bearing inner races are hardened, I`ve had results with a small grinder wheel cutting enough of the Notch to get a Chisel into, a good smack with a hammer with the race suported on a bench anvil usually splits it, removal is then a doddle. Pete
  7. Father and Grandfather, where both Shipwrights, Caulking, especially of decks, with Oakum and sealing with pitch, was a regular job. They serviced the Hull Fishing Fleet until it`s demise. I still have their Caulking tools in the shed somewhere. They, and an Uncle who was a Ship Rigger, all worked of the "conversion" of the Hispaniola, used in the film Treasure Island, Into the "Pequod" For the film Moby Dick. They had to go back the using "Adze" and axes, to produce genuine looking Spars, and the rigging was all sizal rope. Pete
  8. I think I am right in saying that for many years now, those appyling anti-fouling to cargo ships wear full PPE and B-A?. My last experience would have been around 1980, When I oversaw the sale of a Ferry in Rotterdam, Myself and the Chief officer had to examine the hull and sign it off for the new owners. The operators all had had full PPE. We just had gloves and a Boiler Suiit and Hard Hat!.
  9. I am/have been running the little Peugot, on E10. What I did notice was when we had a bit of a shortage and I put some E5 in it, the "feeling" was it ran marginally better. Probably just the Phsycology?. Pete
  10. I understand the NHS do them free of charge (For pace makers?).๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ Pete
  11. So Did you also get the "popup advert" For "Beautifull Ukrainan Girls want to meet older Men". or was that just me.? Pete
  12. Ah!!!!!, From the days when Sports Cars, LOOKED like Sports Cars. Pete
  13. +1 for the Comma Range, use their Oils and various Greases as well as the Anti freeze. On all my "moderns". The exception being the Sprinter, which has to have a specialised Full Synthetic oil, (low ash?). ACEA C2, API SN, ACEA C3. And costs and Arm and Leg. ยฃ135 the last time. Pete
  14. One aproach, In my case I would be trying everything I have in the (Huge) "odds and sods" bin aquired over 60 years with additions from Father and Father in Laws Garages. Not that long back I came across a 1" "Acme" threaded bolt of inderterminate age!, from "who" knows where!.๐Ÿ˜ And some screws I Know came from my BSA B30 when I replaced them with "Allen" Socket screws, courtesy of my then employer. (Tut- Tut) Pete.
  15. Age of the device, would suggest, not metric?. Which leaves the likes of A-F. U-N. BSW/F. and even, but less likely B-A. Have you tried to size the hole?. The drill size, would give a clue to the thread. Eg; 3.5mm, would suggest a UNF 8-36tpi. Pete
  16. Aldi where Knocking out 15w solar panels a few years ago, I got 2 of them. I`ve had one linked to the Battery that came with the 13/60, it`s just enough to keep the battery up to charge, around 12.7V standing, It boosted the "modern" recently I leave it permanently connected. Another is permanently connected to an old 12V camping lantern, handy when we get "outages". I have both C-Tek and an Aldi Chargers, both do a good job, the Aldi one was 1/4 the price!. Pete
  17. Any one have a Photo, Or drawing?. And of what Material are the made?. Pete
  18. What are the actual thread(s) 5/8AF to 3/4AF. ? Pete
  19. What are you doing to keep getting the dreaded lergy?. Sorry to hears it`s happened again. The worst thing happend to me to-day was a Molar Extraction!. Typing with a numb mouth, still, 3 hours later. SWMBO reckons it`s an improvement!. Petes "Kati" does look the Part though. Pete
  20. She`s Looking very nice, definitely a credit to your efforts.๐Ÿ‘ We too got theatened with Thunderstorms, but true to form they passed to the South, So all we got was some light rain. Don`t we Brits love talking about weather?. (and Cars). Pete
  21. That looks a very neat solution, the "girling" offering is quite sruffy by comparison.๐Ÿ‘ Pete
  22. In 2006, RAC (Comercial) where prepared to low load my 9t+ R-V from North of Madrid (Burgos) to the UK. No question over it`s value?. In the event we staggered to Bilbao and our ferry on 7 Cylinders, and where recovered from Portsmouth. Pete
  23. That why us old aprentices went to "Night School". (to learn to read in the dark) Yeah, Ok got my coat! Petew
  24. I`ve had Good results, putting the De-Humidifier, in the "moderns" when they feel a bit dampish or the windshield fogs as soon as you start. Overnight you can pull a couple of Litres out of an SUV. Not likely to work too well on an classic convertible though I suspect. Running the A-C with the heater on demists quickly too. But again that won`t apply to to many 1970 Triumphs either!. Curiosity?. Did they ever put A-C in any export cars?. US exports would be favourite if they ever did I suppose?. Pete
  25. PeteH

    Found in the sump.

Seriously, there is a text that keeps coming, about Test and Trace having logged me as having been in contact Etc,Etc,. I know its a scam, and gets deleted. 1) Test and Trace was scaled back and is no longer running withdrawn back in February. 2) The dates quoted are usually days I have never left the house!!. How many are still getting sucked in by these parasites?. Pete
