  1. Listed on E-Bay now if anyone's after some? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385302446552?hash=item59b5d0c1d8:g:EZkAAOSwmWFjoBEf&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoGgZLwwU2bmoYPXB9tGwAgwgIXBzCtD2%2B5L1ZDzjinQUpxntO9A%2BjxYsV3dGKa4Vs1oo0uhEoC7cBD99r6MtG9WBrcSBF3JTDiYcma2anUMir2vfWHwoDc6GR38GdCHRihGcBQzKKW0WBYXt301oxoY2fz4l9%2Fun%2Bka169CD2B%2BRHewpaicj2gG%2B4U52jW%2BqKQTsB1d8YHgu%2Fu3hhRNg%2BHk%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4rFramlYQ PS - Do they really fetch this amount of Money. Gary
  2. The 5% Response is very poor. You can't really get an accurate idea of what people want from the club with only 200 odd out of 4,000 responding I did fill in the form and do try and get involved with some of the club events and meets when time allows I will definitely be at Silverstone for the 100 Year celebration, I'm really looking forward to it🙂. Gary
  3. I've been told this is an Excellent product and should do the job, although I've never used it myself? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjnrPfg7fP7AhWVZsAKHSSCDosQFnoECDAQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fgbr.sika.com%2Fen%2Findustry%2Ftransportation%2Fsealants%2Fadhesive-sealants%2Fsikaflex-221.html&usg=AOvVaw06cbU84wbBcQojpSUrCHoN Regards Gary
  4. They look very similar to the Dunlop wheels for the MGB GT V8 Models from the 1970's, so may well be Dunlop's. What does the wording on the bottom left say, I can make out the word TYPE but can't read the rest? Regards Dunlop MGB GT V8 Alloys.webp
  5. A Good point Also make sure the Bonnet counter balance springs are fitted, they affect the bonnet fit considerably! Gary
  6. I saw this too, one thing that stands out is I cannot see one foreign car, or is that an NSU at the top?
  7. Getting the Herald/Vitesse doors to fit and shut nicely is the next worse job after trying to get the Bonnet aligned? If you could take photo's and post that would help us get a better understanding of the problems The correct profile door seals are important and most of the bubble type are too thick and not correct for the car anyway, the originals are a J Type profile so get some of these for a start As stated the Door Quarter lights can be adjusted if they catch the top of the 'A' Post (Windscreen surround), but some other adjustment are necessary to get the windows to roll up and down smoothly If the door as dropped due to Worn hinges, they can catch on the 'B' Post and top of the Door Tread plate too, new ones are available so worth swopping if worn I'm not sure what you mean by the Door Pillar being twisted, again photo's will help us understand but if the bottom rear of the doors stick out in relation to the lower rear wing, this is known as Tub spread and can be solved but it means removing the roof and being brutal with the bodywork, do a search on here on how to remedy it. I have attached the Triumph Body build up notes which is worth a read and may help you. Regards Gary Triumph Service Training Notes Herald Body.pdf
  8. Hi Steve As you've probably read in previous posts, I fitted the 80-1717 Koni Dampers to my old Mk2 Vitesse with Roto-flex couplings but used the extension brackets to ensure they cleared the drive couplings. They worked well with a smooth controlled ride without any adjustment and I experienced no bottoming out of the Dampers even when 4 up. I'm not sure if they will be the correct open and closed length if you used the original Chassis top mounts though, you will find if you use the standard Koni dampers specified for the Herald/Vitesse they will bottom out on full travel over potholes/bad bumps/etc (They are the incorrect closed length I believe) When using the 80-1717 (which are actually meant for the front of a Classic Mini) you have to drill out the bottom bush slightly and change the Top Bushes for Superflex two part top-hat bushes with some spacer washers when using the original shouldered type top bolts and the top extension brackets, a search on here will show you how I fitted them to my car Regards
  9. I've just had a look at the Triumph Service notes for building up the body, but that doesn't really show the Roof front seal in any great detail, it just shows a guy using a Mastic gun to apply plenty of sealant to the top of the seal? What shape is the front section of the Roof like that attaches to the top of the windscreen surround, is it flat or is it shaped to accept the slight 'U' Section shown on the seal? Gary
  10. i had a similar annoying problem on my Vitesse fitted with type 16P Calipers. I purchased a set of Anti-rattle clips, they were spring steel and tensioned the pins slight to stop them rattling, presumably you should be able to get a set for the type 14's too. Gary
  11. I've seen that clip, its actually a 2 Litre Vitesse, 'F' Registration if I remember correctly? I think I checked on if it survived, but it didn't😥 Gary
  12. I have no personal experience of these people but they are based near Long Eaton and seem to get good reviews? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi2mu6V4sH7AhWGh1wKHfF5ApMQFnoECA8QAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blyandson.co.uk%2F&usg=AOvVaw3Ip1Tww9Wdiv0LJ1NZc-ZC I had a quote off them for some work and they where within 5% of another quote I got for some remedials on my current Classic? Hope you get it sorted Gary
  13. I used Grapoghen paste and also new Engine oil on certain parts (Cylinder Bores & Pistons/Rings) when rebuilding my Triumph Six for my Vitesse as recommended in a Practical Classic write up on rebuilding the Triumph Engine I also used Piper Cam lube for the new Camshaft and Followers Try and store the engine in a dry place and as Pete suggests seal up all the Inlet/exhaust ports Gary
  14. I would double check to see if the rear wings have been replaced, some of the reproduction rear wings where the incorrect shape, flat instead of slightly curved. Can you compare the rear Wing shape/profile with another original Herald/Vitesse? Here's a couple of images that show my Old Vitesse which had its original rear Wings and Door skins and shows the profile of Door and Rear wing If the Repro rear wings with the incorrect shape/profile have been fitted you will struggle to get the doors to line up correctly I'm afraid Gary
  15. Dan I searched for years trying to track one down, however I do know someone who did have one for sale recently, I will message him and see if he's still got it? Regards Gary
  16. Wow! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285035018940?hash=item425d693abc:g:6pcAAOSw5ohjbg0r
  17. Pete Have you any idea what the Strap drive actually does? Is it something to do with cushioning take up off drive to protect the Diff/Gearbox maybe. I had one fitted on my First 1200 Herald, it went out of balance and was horrible at 45MPH, it shook your teeth out!!😁😁😁😬 Gary
  18. The Herald looks like it's got the original correct seats fitted to me, they are very similar to the 2 Litre Vitesse seats but the Vitesse as wider bolsters to the sides of the bases. The Damson Vitesse Mk2 looks a nice enough example, looks to me though like the seats have probably been re-foamed with not quite the correct shape to the base foams. Gary
  19. Yes, with a nice bottle of Merlot to go😁
  20. The Vitesse gearbox as a different Alloy Bell housing to the 4 Cylinder cars, with the starter motor on a different side (I think) and the clutch slave cylinder mounting in a different position too. I suppose you could change it but no sure if the Spitfire Clutch would work with the Input/First motion shaft of a Vitesse gearbox? The Early Vitesse 6 Gearboxes are not as strong as the later 2 Litre Models and have smaller prop shaft connecting bolts 5/16" UNF Bolts (1/2" spanner) instead of the 3/8" UNF (9/16" spanner) ones on a 2 Litre Gearbox. The Vitesse gearboxes do have delightful close gear ratio's, first gear maybe a bit too high for an 1147cc spitfire engine though. Gary PS - that's a Gorgeous Spitfire by the way🙂
  21. Colin From the write up it was restored in the early 1990's in Hertfordshire with several N.O.S. Stanpart Panels? Not a really late one, as no steering lock fitted, presumably Laurel Green with a Matador red interior which is a great combination I wonder if there is a similar One owner late Vitesse Mk2 Convertible tucked up in a garage somewhere, I for one would love to find it if there is🤨 Regards
  22. What about this beauty currently listed on E-Bay? If it was a Vitesse I would be sorely tempted🤔 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144772612395?hash=item21b51ec12b:g:g18AAOSws4djTuDF PS - It's a shame they can't get the spelling correct on the listing😬 Gary
  23. At current exchange rates around £20,420.00 A tad expensive for a Vitesse, but as stated numerous times before, try restoring one to that standard for the same money? Quite a few nice ones appearing on the car and classic site too, I must get one again, I need to sell my current Classic first though🤔 Gary
  24. Here you go https://newtoncomm.co.uk/collections/vitesse/products/upper-dash-panel-rhd Regards Gary
  25. Here's a bit of Ohms Law Power (P) equals Volts (V) x Amps (I) (P = V x I) Transform the formula I = P divided by V So the Amps for a 3W Bulb = 3 divided by 12 = 0.25 Amps Simples 🙂
