  1. It was up for sale a year ago or so apparently, If my memory serves me right, the 4 Dial Vitesse dash was introduced September 1963 so correct for a 1964 car. Some of the add-on's are a bit odd, still a very nice example though and looks like it may have sold as the E-bay Ads ended now.
  2. What about this beauty on E-Bay at the mo? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1964-triumph-vitesse/183715847743?hash=item2ac6515e3f:g:4k8AAOSw4zdcQgUv:rk:1:pf:0 Even as the Original Vitesse 6 Mottled carpets😁
  3. Flex-a-Lite fans are very popular with Sunbeam Tiger owners and are supposed to work well? With the amount of heat produced in a Tiger Engine bay you need all the help you can get🤔!
  4. Does your rear spring comprise of 7 leaves? If so I suspect the studs may be too long, most Heralds and Vitesses have springs comprising 11 Leaves, are correspondingly thicker and require longer studs? You could probably use them if you use spacer Washers or cut them down but it does sound like they may be too long. Gary
  5. Yes must agree 175/70 WITH 5.5J Rims are a good choice, very similar to the original rolling radius of 155/80 series tyres too. Make sure the ET Offset is correct, ET16 to ET19 should be OK for most small chassis Triumphs? What about a nice set of Dunlop D1 Replica's for the GT6?
  6. Spire screws and Spire Nuts according to the Body fitting notes? Herald, Vitesse Body - Svc Trg Notes.pdf
  7. I thought the original Grille fixings for the Mk2 Vitesse are Square type push in plastic fittings to the 3 Vertical support bars, 2 per bar I think? Self tapping screws then hold the grille on 2 per bar 6 in total. Gary
  8. Colin That may be the way to go for me? I wonder if I can source some in the UK? Gary
  9. Colin I've no idea, still finding my feet with the Rootes group cars? Gary
  10. I'm just in the Process of changing these Hinge pins on My Sunbeam? I managed to press two of them out using the vice with a suitably sized short bolt and spacer at the other end. One was a bit harder and needed drifting out and the 4th one wouldn't budge at all, even with the use of heat and a large hammer and drift it wouldn't budge, turns out it had snapped. I ended up having to cut through the pin with a junior hacksaw, but the Sunbeam hinges are different to triumph ones with brass spacer washers in between each section which give just enough room for a junior hacksaw. I've got the problem now of the pins having worn the hinge holes oval, so I need to have them drilled/machined to suit larger diameter pins?!!! Unfortunately new hinges are not available for the Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger range😞
  11. Ray I Have sent you a PM with some Info on the Shocks, they are 80-1717 and some mods are required to the Bushes A couple of Photos of the Bushes, spacer washers and bolt at the Top, I drilled out slightly the existing bush at the bottom to suit? Also the Spec sheet on the Shocks Regards Gary 80-1717.pdf
  12. I fitted Koni shocks and the extension brackets to my Mk2 Vitesse. I was advised to used Koni Shocks recommended for the front of an early Classic Mini which are the correct Open/Closed lengths The shocks normally advised for the standard Herald/Vitesse Swing Axle suspension are not correct for the Rotoflex type suspension. If you want to send me a PM with Your E-Mail address I should be able to find and send you the details on the shocks and how I fitted them It may be a few days though. Alternatively do a search on Koni and some useful info will come up? PS - The Koni ones I fitted worked well and I never had any bottoming out of the suspension, but I didn't have any lowering block fitted. Regards Gary
  13. Yes A Series 2 Model🙂
  14. How About a Maxwell Smart Car?
  15. Gav Here's a link to Tex Automotive based near Oxford http://texautomotive.com/classic_exterior_mirrors.html I believe the Mirror & Lens are model MO310F & MO310C I replaced them a few years ago, the originals were the same style and were purchased by my Good friend John Gregory way back in the 1980's when he owned the car, he purchased them from an Autojumble. I believe they are fitted to some Ford models from the 60's, Capri's, Corsairs, Etc Regards Gary
  16. Dave Ok thanks for the update, I doubt very much if the car survives😢 Do you know if the early cars stayed in the UK or went off to the USA? Gary
  17. I've been following a post on the Triumph Vitesse International page which shows a photo of one of the Press Vitesse 6 Cars. A query was raised regarding if the car survives, but it is fitted with the TR4 Rally car Registration number plate - 4 VC for the Press photographs only. This particular car was no doubt sold on with an alternative 1962 registration plate? Does the Club (Dave Rumens) know what the commission number is of the earliest surviving Vitesse 6 model? Gary
  18. The Coating looks much like the original, a wrinkle type finish and was lasting well the last time I saw the car in September? I can't remember how much tbh, but it wasn't a fortune Dumelows are still in Business 01283 564292 but are not exactly local to you. Thanks for the kind words on the Vitesse, it lives in Gloucestershire now and took me 4 Years to restore and several thousand pounds on parts too. If you call Pete at Dumelow's he may be able to tell you what the coating is and then you could try someone locally? He's recently blasted and coated an old 60's Radio surround for my Sunbeam and finished it in Satin Black wrinkle type finish, only charged me a Tenner😉 Another pic below of the Vitesse when sold in 2015 Gary
  19. The only Photo I can find attached, it was a company called R L Dumelow & Sons in Burton on Trent, Staffs that re-finished them for me. He's a keen classic car guy and owns a TR6 & E Type Jag among others? Gary
  20. I Removed the coating on mine with an old wood chisel, it took an age, especially on the two smaller pieces near the 'B' Posts! Then I had it coated in a very similar finish by a local Powder Coating specialist, it looked very similar to the original finish, Ill see if I can find some Photo's? Gary
  21. I'm going to stand up for the Valencia Paint & Tan Trim option Here's a photo of the interior of my old TR, I think it looks great?🙂
  22. I can remember having this part blasted and powder coated when rebuilding my Vitesse, then deciding not to fit it or the Sponge seal. I Purchased a rubber blanking grommet the correct diameter, carefully cut a hole to match the drain plug, then coated the whole area inside, including the bottom of the tank and drain spout in Dintrol 3125 Rust Proofing fluid. As Nick states the foam simply acts like a sponge and rots out the bottom of the tank!! Not a good idea on the part of the original designers, the earlier Herald 948/1200's never had this part fitted to my knowledge, so maybe it was some sort of support for the larger tank on the Vitesse and later 13/60 Heralds? Gary
  23. Yes I watched it too and some of the footage brought a tear to my eye. We owe so much to all the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice? ,
  24. I was more concerned about the long bolt seizing inside the vertical link tbh, a common fault on the Mk2 rear suspension. I didn't use any special seals, just the standard trunnion shields and rubber water seals. Gary
  25. When I rebuilt the rear suspension on my Mk2 Vitesse I drilled and tapped for a Grease Nipple to the middle of the Vertical link part were the long bolt goes through. Every 6 months or so I would pump in EP90 Oil and give the long bolt a full turn to circulate the oil, this was to try and stop the usual long bolt seizure problem, it seemed to work?
