  1. A mate had a lovely 1500SE Dolomite back in the mid 1980's it was used all the time for work etc, mileage wasn't massive, 50K or so. One lunchtime he asked me to help investigate why he was struggling to get it into reverse gear, on dipping the Clutch the Fan was seen to be moving forward nearly 1/2"!!! This turned out to be the Thrust washer problem, he ended up putting a 1300 Engine in it from a local scrapyard. I think the longish stroke of the 1500 and 2500, together with the smallish Big end journals was a stretch to far by Harry Webster and his team considering the original engine was only 800 odd cc?!!!
  2. Yes a worthwhile modification to one of the weak points on the Triumph 6, although all the cars I've ever owned have never suffered excessive end float? I've seen it done on TR's too, maybe the longer stroke makes them more susceptible to this problem. Regards
  3. I thought the Brabham Heralds had the Larger 1220cc Coventry Climax Engine fitted? A rare item though indeed.?
  4. It is also important you get the correct Off-set on the Wheels, I had some Dunlop D1 Replica Alloys fitted on my old Vitesse and these were ET-19 Offset and a perfect fit. If buying from one of the usual Triumph suppliers they should be correct, but check the Offset Regards Gary
  5. This link might help? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1967-TRIUMPH-SPITFIRE-Mk-2-SPORTS-CAR-Original-Sales-Brochure/362304838256?hash=item545b0d1a70:g:RJYAAOSwUMBa4yJJ:rk:1:pf:0
  6. Here's a link to an Original Sales Brochure for a Mk2 Spitfire, it's shown Gold/Bronze in the Engine bay shots? In fact the Air Cleaner looks the same colour too! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1967-TRIUMPH-SPITFIRE-Mk-2-SPORTS-CAR-Original-Sales-Brochure/362304838256?hash=item545b0d1a70:g:RJYAAOSwUMBa4yJJ:rk:1:pf:0
  7. Here's another Photo of a Mk2 Vitesse seat, re-trimmed with a Newton Commercial kit.
  8. Here's a pic under the Bonnet of mine, not much room?!! To change the Off-side rear Spark Plug there is an access panel inside the front foot-well you remove to gain access? I'm still getting used to mine, but lets say it gets very hot under the bonnet, that's why a lot of Tigers are fitted with additional Air scoops and outlets on the bonnet and also up-rated radiators and additional cooling fans, especially in foreign climates.
  9. Doug I'm still in the TSSC, I would talk to you? Gary
  10. It doesn't say it's got to be a Triumph?!!
  11. I fitted a similar Hepolite set with the extra Oil control ring low down when rebuilding my Vitesse Engine, got them off Flea-bay. The car is still running well with the new owner 15,000+ Miles on? Gary
  12. I know of a Mk2 Spitfire languishing in a garden and a Dolomite Sprint at a Coal yard both local to me and both have been stood for 30 Years Plus! The Dolomite in particular was about 5 or 6 years old when it was parked up, what a waste,
  13. Formula Woodrim look the business, but are not that nice to use?

    Bond Engine Rebuild

Yes I noticed that too, it certainly looks like a crack that's been repaired but surely not? Never seen a Triumph 6 Block with that before. Gary
  15. Used Blue Hylomar on the Sender Gasket on my TR, no leaks?
  16. I think what the seller means is the Boss is Two piece and one piece (the one that fits on the splines of the steering column I think) has a Square section which locates into the steering wheel centre? I had a spare Formula Steering wheel which I refurbished, this too didn't have the two piece centre boss and I never did find one in over 7 years of searching Ended up selling just the Wheel without the Boss. Reading the advert more closely, it would seem this boss may be for a Formula wheel not a Les Leston?
  17. One on E-Bay at the Mo but a bit expensive! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/original-LES-LESTON-VINTAGE-for-SQUARE-hole-steering-wheel-TRIUMPH-BOSS-KIT-/253055716584?hash=item3aeb4bcce8:g:tQAAAOSwEzxYVwkF

    TRX spotted

Interesting clip Ray Some discussion recently on the TR-Register site, looks like two of them survive? https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi2wYrM8JTVAhUrJcAKHUweDH8QFgg3MAY&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tr-register.co.uk%2Fforums%2Findex.php%3F%2Ftopic%2F51405-trx-for-sale%2F&usg=AFQjCNFqj4vd5hGNgP0UnoNRJLKgC-gUOA
  19. If you call Overdrive Repair Services near Sheffield they should be able to advise which one you need and they sell them too? I got one off them for my Vitesse with 3.89 Diff and 'J' Type Over-drive and the speedo was spot on. I'm sure they could supply a correct one for a 'D' Type Over-drive too.
  20. Henry Is it one of these you need from the Canley Classics site NKC48?
  21. Like the Dunns advert, my TR was sold there in July 1968?
