  1. Ha! Unless, by chance, its quite a good fit the engine must run pretty badly although I guess the carb mixtures have been richened to compensate...
  2. Personally I wouldnt worry about a gauze as long as the pump is within tolerances. Presumably this engine is now going to have regular oil and filter changes plus not do a lot of miles so the chances of large items entering the sump and being sucked into the oil pump are very low...
  3. Excellent and that does look like good pressure - what revs and temperature did you measure it at?
  4. yes Ive never used mine much but in this case it would have been interesting to see if there is a noticeable difference between 1 and 2. I know that for tuning smoothing is done inside inlet manifolds, especially at the divides, to balance the airflow to each cylinder so maybe your manifold has a particularly poor casting.... Great fuel consumption though!
  5. I cant tell but that seller is a Triumph specialist who does a lot of business on ebay...
  6. Note: not so effective if its just a chassis though😄
  7. yes think it helps to jack just the vertical link while of course taking care not to lift the chassis off the stands😲
  8. Hmmm Hylomar might be more effective at sealing some leaks Ive got!
  9. I now use the fuel pump manual lever to refill my carbs at least once a month when the car is unused (yes I know I should be driving it more often😞) in the hope that this will stop the complete evaporation of fuel in the carb bowls and accompanying gumming up of their float and needle valves....
  10. yes if youre not careful it'll be worse than my medical cabinet😨
  11. Yes manifold not perfect (same as standard exhaust one as well) so always a bit of a compromise. Have you got a colourtune to see the combustion colour on number 1 Dave?
  12. I take it the valves were lapped while the head was off? So its either the gauge or something strange has happened with a replacement cylinder head or low compression pistons etc
  13. So the hunting has stopped Dave? Good to know....

    Fuel sender

No excuses for running out of fuel now then!
  15. Yes I dont think technique is going to explain those readings so its either the gauge or all four cylinders have a problem. The rings might not have bedded in? so a repeat test with oil will be very interesting...
  16. Your spring being low milege probably still has the original pronounced curve (this reduces with usage + load and the camber steadily becomes more negative) so I would suggest that the 1/2" spacer wont be enough. So unless youre going to do a lot of driving with 3 hefty passengers I think you'll need at least 3/4" and, as Pete says, this shouldnt need a change of studs...
  17. Sorry, job list is mounting up! Now what else is there🤔
  18. Ive read Paula that over torqued head bolts can pull up the metal surrounding their holes in the block. I find it hard to believe the resulting 'pimple' could stop the head going down flat on the block but it might be something worth checking. The recommendation is to run a larger drill in the holes to slightly countersink them to remove this possibility...
  19. Also it says 133803 is the correct short one
  20. That matches the number for your long stud as shown in the free to download workshop manual...
  21. You could mechanically clean the waterway holes as much as possible now and then do a soda clean as recommended on here once all back together....
  22. Its great suggesting jobs for other people to do🤣
  23. Although I cant find anything in the WSM is it worth checking the head with a straight edge and feelers? Plus while the heads off are you going to do anything with the valves? Then of course youre also in an ideal situation to check TDC of number 1 piston compared to the pulley mark👍
  24. I thought wheel weights were made of something else now to stop lead being flung off into the environment (and thats why you need a few more to achieve balance?). Whatever it is looks to have melted ok but reckon you might have to watch out how hard you wack things with it😲
  25. I couldnt figure it out but its just clicked, this offering is correctly listed but is for the last US models and should be mounted vertically as shown in the Canley diagram above. Good price😮
