  1. You probably fitted the dizzy 180 deg out. Danny
  2. Did the clamp hold the dizzy and stop it turning as previous comments. Because if the clamp is tight on the dizzy body and also secured on the dizzy pedistal and still the dizzy can move around then there could be a problem with the dizzy. I can't see why the dizzy drive would have moved a few teeth out on the cam if you have not removed the pedistal. Danny
  3. I think you may have set it a TDC. Just move the distributor clockwise little to see if it starts. Danny
  4. Sounds like the clamp around the distributor. There should be a bolt at the back that holds the clamp to the pedistal and the clamp itself fits in a groove around the distributor. I suspect its not posioned right to clamp it. Danny
  5. I bought a mc for my 1500 spit a couple of years ago. The push rod that came with it was much too long. Ended up fitting an adjustable one. Danny
  6. It should be done cold. The gauge should hold whatever reading the compression registers. Is the gauge faulty/Leaking. Danny
  7. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391027474013?hash=item5b0b0dbe5d:g:YSoAAOSwImRYWUpv&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0KzIqIhiV0CpObCmjyvCY3u7ecJTn1DypyowaIRCfp%2F I brought these covers in January. Black with white piping. I fitted them in February and very pleased with them. Great fit and they are softer than the covers I took off, they also look more like leather than the old ones. I had already put new foam on the seats a few years ago so that helped. The head rests did not have white piping too match the covers, so I unpicked the stitching and added my own. I'm extremely pleased with them. Danny
  8. John, If you intend to drive it with the tonneau on, it will flap like mad without the door poppers on the passenger side. Danny
  9. You could cut off the pipe flush then drill and tap to add hose connector. I've seen this done. Danny
  10. Hi John. On my Spit 1500 they were already attached to the vent caps. But I do remember removing the caps 20 years ago for repaint. You can get to the nuts under the dash that hold the vents although not easy. There's no drilling required because the pegs should attach to small swivel plates and the plates are attached between the vent capping and dash using the same fixing as the capping. These plates allow the pegs to move to line up with the holes in the tonneau. Danny
  11. I suppose it's down to the individual but it must be easier than trying to fabricate an arch. Danny
  12. Electronic points are great. I always carry a spare unit but never needed it. Been running with it for about 10 years. Danny
  13. Made mine from aluminium covered in vinyl. Did the same with door cards and rear panel. Danny

    Exhaust db killer

Got these a few years ago for my wheelbarrow exhausts but never used. Couldn't bring myself to drill the silencer ends. I was thinking of fitting a different back box. I fancy the gt6 box with twin pipes. Thinking it will quieten it down. At the moment I wear earplugs on long journeys. Danny
  15. I found it one of the best mods I have done. Never had a problem with copper pipe from Master to slave, I believe there should be a loop in the copper behind rocker cover that takes out the stress. There is no problem with the bleed copper as its attached to the bell housing.
  16. My Spit 1500 Wheel arch 23 inch spring length 7.5 inch. Sits low but plenty of room for 175/70 5.5J Danny
  17. I use Mechanics stethoscope from ebay.£4.99. They are very good and safe. Danny
  18. When my cards were set up on a rolling road the guy had modified dashpot screw tops with a slider marked with different colour segments. Danny
  19. I've never seen repair sections for the front wheel arches. It's dead simple to replace the whole panel. Easier than trying to put a repair in. Danny
  20. I always drop the prop at the diff and pull it back to get some room. I also use two longer studs at the top of the engine to help alight the bellhousing with the engine angle. A trolly jack with wood bridging both engine and bellhousing helps get the angle right. I done this about 5 times and always on my own. Danny
  21. I found this stuff is brilliant for the tunnel.
  22. When I recently put my tunnel back, I put rivnuts on those two top screw holes and used thumb screws to secure it. This will make it easier when I have to take it off/replace it. Danny
