Thanks. I'm surprised they have been working fine for past 9 years, the fastenings are small stainless bolts and nuts, so no rust on them though, they are a fairly slack fit through the bonnet, which is where they earth, I assume.
Maybe not applicable to this?, though, could they have been earthed further upstream in that relevent section of the loom?, or does the earth have to be direct from the units (if you see what I mean?).

Is it worth looking at the colour of plugs, to give a clue what may be happening?

I thought The Shamen said they weren't.
Also New Order "E for England", the official, national football team song, for an international tournament that was in the charts, maybe got to no1? (don't think BBC radio bosses twigged)

Have removed mine to sort internal rust. No earth cable as such, so assume the earth is the two screws that fasten unit to body?.
Oh, this is a Vitesse
Thanks Dave

I bought some from Chris Witor and they seem nice and thin1
I wondered if to mention Chris Witor, though, thought he may have only SU carb stuff, for the big saloons (or do some run Stroms?)

Good work.
Anywhere to easily obtain a bit of copper block ( or does alloy do the same?).
Or would a bit of copper pipe, hammered flat, have enough heat sinkage?, or help?

where to get ones like the original?
I suppose, an idea, would be to discuss with Canley, Chic Doig, (any others?), to see if they have ok ones (as they restore, as well as supply parts)

The food ones yes, and very occasionally, the others

PS, would have done a photo of mine, though never been able to attach to forum, using my phone

Sorry Phil, it slipped my mind. Just compared yours with mine. Looks the same/very simular

Someone will buy that, turn up at an event, announce he spent £29000 approx on it, then wonder why all the sharp intakes of breath...
That someone, will maybe have so much dosh, it doesn't really matter.

It still keeps going back to where is was after a month or so.
I wonder if that's a call to remove a thin wedge, at bottom of B Post, pull in, weld up, as Colin was wondering?. I saw mentioned in the Courier a few year back, when the member had done this on a Bond, I though it seemed a good idea, as less metal stress when pulling and maybe won't relax back after?

so I think if we left our cars alone they'd go so much better.
Yes, generally, and need to be used a bit regularly with some basic maintenance. I do like some of the upgrades that Nick and Clive do, that are well executed and are used for purpose
My Triumph is my only car, so I drive it with sympathy, and lives on the road, so big stuff, would be difficult anyway. Also wary of the the issues that folk get (say in, only changing a head gasket), due to non reliable parts at times, etc, though like you say Colin, we only generally hear of the problems encountered

But on 2nd thoughts will just temp brace as the tub is now , wait untill the bulkhead is bolted on the chassis. Repaired the door bottoms and reskinned the doors and then squeeze whilst the tub is in position on the chassis, with doors fitted so that i can see how other areas are affected and bracing / support / straps can be introduced as i replace rear wings outer and inner.
I did wonder if to mention doing it last. There could be other discrepancies within the body and the doors after many years, especially if its had previous work?

Only just noticed this thread. Sorry to hear you and your family are struggling.
I enjoyed reading about the car, any more stories?

Thanks, I don't remember it on the twiddle day I attended?, though could be wrong. Will relocate the wiper arm (did think of this, but thought there may be groove/tab within the spines for one position only).
Cheers

Hi. Has got worse over time and now pretty noisy.
Is this just the adjustment for the parking/rest position, as described in WSM?.
Thanks, Dave

Hi Phil, will check my Vitesse one, the same as yours, it has never let water in, was new, though started to perish after about 4 years old ,same old story.

Hi. If anyone currently owns both cars, it would be be great if you can compare them.
Thanks, Dave

Thanks. This was from a garage clearout after a family bereavement.
Smells like EP and is the right colour, though no guarantee it's 90, as on the label, probably fine, though a bit of a risk I guess

Hi. Wondered if ok to use trans/engine oil that is of unknown age.
Someone has given me about 3 litres of EP 90, in an opened plastic can, from probably a good while back. It is clean.

some people use a full size nut which may not grip enough threads, which my mOT man tells me is a fail, so some suppliers will sell a half-nut that goes further along the axle threads.
Is a half nut more secure than a longer one protruding? (as I can't see why?), or just what the MOT stipulates, in case the screw/bolt is not the correct length?.

It's quite likely that a Mk1 cable is a different length to a Mk2.
I'm pretty sure I have read this before, either on here or CT forum

Thanks, I understood how the needles/jets work, though your info clarified, that as long as the needle profile is matched correctly to engine size/characteristics, then to set at idle.

I had a WASO locking petrol cap, though was forced off, to nick fuel, luckily didn't appear to damage filler neck lugs, so now don't lock it.
I do have bonnet locks, that were on the car when I bought it, though reluctant to us them in case of damage, if they are forced?.
Bit like locking doors, they will get in anyway, so limit damage to car?
