Pete Lewis
Wpe can have achat about fuese etc on twiddle day, Would a 13amp 240volt plug fuse work, well my days of physics are long gone but it all relies on 'ohms law' And would expect a very different resistance for a 240 volt fuse ??? Despite all my searching I just couldn't find any; have ordered a dozen which should cover a lot of eventualities! Even my trusty Autoparts shop tried to sell me the 35amp versions claiming they're all the same; in the end I fitted 15 amp fuses which have worked so far. Paul - Canleys seem to have only 15, 20 or 35 amp fuses, I know it's a small thing but that little jump between 15 and 17 may make a difference some day, and I wouldn't risk the 20amp or higher, so have gone for the lower option from my own stock and bought some of the higher spec from Aidan's link. I'm really surprised that Canleys don't stock them as they're the original spec and I would have presumed they would have more than a few sticklers for originality among their customers. ...and yes, I could fit a modern blade-fuse box, but having had no bother with the old one I hate being forced into things. Pete Yes. The current is the current regardless of the voltage. Power is a different kettle of fish. 13a at 240v is around 3kw. At 12v 160w ish. But the fuses are 30mm Long or the equivalent imperial. I think a domestic fuse is shorter. Nearer 1”

Euan Yes, and they are one of the suppliers I mentioned that show the fuses as "out of stock, expected soon"... however if you search on Rimmer's site for 17 amp - as I did - the search result is a 10 amp Mini fuse and a lot of Range Rover links which have nothing whatsoever to do with what I was looking for, so they may not appear unless available. Colin Lindsay
'Er Indoors nearly blew a fuse when she found an e-mail receipt for a payment to "Love Life Limited".... I had to demonstrate that this is the fuse seller Aidan recommended. I'm not sure what part of someone's love life requires a 17 amp fuse but then I'm getting old and out of touch... Colin Lindsay
Fuses arrived, and the seller included a Maoam penny chew with the order... maybe this is to entice 'er indoors to actually get into the car with me? It's a strange world....
Anglefire
My replacement lhd indicator stalk arrived yesterday and I decided to fit it tonight. Funnily enough this one has the logos the correct way round for rhd. Anyway. To make it fit in the rh position remove the original plate off the old switch. Swap over the plates. being very careful not to loose any of the ball bearings and springs as you do it! You need to trim about 1-1/4 inch of the tube to allow the wiring to be taken up and over the screw post. Something like this Tighten up the screw but not too tight to hold the switch onto the column Then refit the lighting switch on the lhs. the blue collar has a notch indicating which side the auto cancel is fitted the only snag I have found is indicating left turns on the right indicators and vice versa ? The easy way (Possibly!) is to swap the wires over in the plug as to do it in the switch will be a mare I suspect! Edited April 20, 2018 by Anglefire Bit of tidying up!! Anglefire
Sorted the indicators out this morning. Looking at the old and new the plugs, the left and right wires are crossed. Couldn't find a way of getting the wires out either end. Well I could almost get them out of the plug end but they would then need to be recrimped as they come out the wrong way So cut and swapped them over and used a butt crimp on each. And working again properly!
Colin Lindsay
Great job. Gives you a really good feeling when you get something finished and it works as you hoped!
