Peter Truman
I agree with above concerns, Cast Iron's an unknown quantity, we have a lot of CI water mains still in service after 150 years, some as large as 30in dia, BUT every so often they'll just let go blowing the side out interestingly the raw surface of the damaged section of pipe often shows no sign of corrosion pre failure they just let go! The large old pipes weren't spun so they can be 3/4in thick to 1.5in as they were horizontally cast, they came out to Aus as ballast in the ships hold when Aussie wool was exported to England. Peter Truman
Seen on eBay last night I assume a Triumph DIY spring compressor to compress the valve spring without removing the head, Anyone have an idea how it works? just looks like a long valve push rod. ahebron
First thought is you feed it in the sparkplug hole. But even then I can't see how it would work. A bit of rope works well for changing valve springs without removing the head Edited August 30, 2023 by ahebron

Irony, irony, they've none of them got the irony!
Colin Lindsay
Herald 948s and 1200 don't need a tool for the valve spring anyway, it will push down with finger pressure. Only the double or uprated springs need a compressor.
Pete Lewis
easy to remove the double springs collets and cap fit a socket /piece of hard wood to support the head of the valve when placed on the bench find a nice sized socket to fit over the collets give this a good whack and the collets all jump out freeing the valve you can do all 8 /12 in a few minutes you need a valve spring compressor to refit it all but its a very safe and quick way to strip a head down Pete
