  1. I bought a 12mt Press which was adequate for replacing the rotoflex and bearings on my Vitesse . Last job was an obstinate bearing on a gearbox refurb Paul
  2. The felt washers and cups I bought from Canleys were oversize and couldn’t be used . As a fan of Canleys they might have better stock now Paul

    GT6 & Vitesse WSM

Just purchased from EBay a bound version of the GT6 and Vitesse WSM . The manual although bound has the 4 punch holes in all the pages so this might be for Library use as there’s a Manchester library mark . Some of the pages open up . The bit I don’t understand that although Vitesse is mentioned on the cover there’s no references to Vitesse inside other than “Vitesse” being included in all the section headings The seller suggested it might be a dealers version. Despite no reference to the Vitesse there’s lots of valuable info that is useful and relevant . The rear setup is non rotoflex and a scribbled date says 67 Any thoughts ? Paul

  14. The Dynamo to Denso Alternator conversion is complete and initial testing done the Denso is working and charging . The Denso 16404 is 40amp , very small in comparison to the C40L Dynamo and half it’s weight . The small size increases engine access . The fan belt required is a 1050 For my benefit and others here’s a summary of the exercise The Dynamo Bracket attached to the side of the engine bracket is removed as no longer required . The Denso lower fixing bolts straight to the engine bolt bracket . The spacer required was 40mm . Treat this as approximate . The top adjuster bar fitting on the Denso requires a M12 bolt . The Denso has a 3 wire connector . Mine came with the 3 pin female connector so worth checking it’s included . The wiring is as follows and thanks to @NonMemberfor his advice . In my case the B+ connector is a 30amp cable which goes direct to the positive on the battery . The left brown cable $ is new and goes direct to the positive terminal on the battery The middle white cable IG is existing spurred into coil +ve cable The Outer brown/ yellow cable L is the original to the Dynamo The brown / green is not required and taped off All wiring was added to existing loom and re taped using non adhesive loom tape. The Regulator RB340 is under the passenger dash is no longer required as the Denso has a regulator included so detach all the wires as follows The black earth can be terminated as not required . Join F and WL using additional spade connectors Terminal B and D ( 3 heavy duty wires need to be joined ) I used a small section of scrap copper plate and made a shunt cutting out sections to make 3 spades to connect the 3 cables . I then taped up the connection . With the regulator still in place the Dynamo can be put back with minimum effort should originality be required . Hope this is helpful to newbies like me and thanks again for continued advice . Paul
  15. I’ve also just fitted the Shacktune conversion on my Mk2 Vitesse . Well machined and enough shims to achieve the correct spec . A 5 mile test and early days the steering feels tighter and more precise. I use a temperature laser gun ( Aldi £15ish) to monitor bearing temperatures and so far it’s fine . I initially used the gun to set the rear brake shoes . Initially one side was binding and burnt my hand checking the hub so now use the laser gun . Paul

  18. Hi just changed the oil on my Vitesse . The removal tool is difficult to use as access isnt easy plus there’s a lot of give when twisting off the filter I’ve seen some 3 pronged ones with a socket at the front which look more practical . Any suggestions ? Paul
