  1. The sill doesn’t line up with the bonnet and from the pic it’s way out . Is it a case of fettling ( posh word for bending the bonnet section ) and or packing the sill ? Both sides have the bonnet overhang Paul
  2. When I bought my Vitesse the incorrect carbs had been fitted and the diff blew up within 3 miles . The previous owner had fitted a new differential but forgot to fill with oil 😱Welcome to classic car ownership . That was 5 years ago and learnt a lot since then and the most important lesson was to teach myself how to maintain and repair my Vitesse as garage costs are very high and no guarantee that the quality of workmanship is there as I’ve found to my cost . The forum will help you at every stage.
  3. Save you some pennies . When I bought my Vitesse I had the same idea but was quickly and correctly dissuaded Paul
  4. Running 15amp on mine . I know it’s high guess 10 would be ok Paul
  5. You might think twice about twin exhaust . Might be a tad loud plus road clearance could be an issue . Paul
  6. Apart from Haynes , second hand EBay is fine as it will get grubby . The AA Book of the Car is a great intro to how our classics work https://www.wob.com/en-gb/books/m-a-i-technical-ed-jacobson/aa-book-of-the-car/9780903356213? Paul
  7. I’ve fitted a Huco pull type on my Vitesse excellent bit of kit , if you need any info let me know . Paul
  8. When it’s MOT time find a suitable local garage as modern mot chains don’t understand our Triumphs . Your front wheel bearings are tapered and need a degree of play to operate . Tighten them up and they will seize . If you don’t have the gear layout on the gear knob leave a paper show the H box layout . My local garage lets me drive in and I stay with the car assisting the MOT guy doing what he says . He even invites me in the pit to see the underside . Paul
  9. This is the reply I got from Halfords . So you can buy an item and you’re not told it’s out of stock until you try and collect or it doesn’t turn up . Then you get no apology just can we try again . I think not Paul Case reference 17182021 Dear Paul, Thanks for confirming your contact details. Items will stay up on the website when we are due to get more stock. Items are only removed when it is discontinued. If you still want the item, I can take a look and see when the item will be returning?
  10. Didn’t @Gary Flinn suggest this wasn’t a NOS factory bonnet and could have been assembled with NOS panels which is not the same . Paul
  11. I have a sunroof on my Vitesse and don’t have a visor and ok without it . Visors do crop up on EBay and sell for approx £100 subject to condition . The visors normally will have scratches and pitting on the brackets . Visors are not made any more so prices will climb higher . Paul

What starter do you have . I fitted a high torque to my mk 2 Vitesse and the starting difference was significant. I’ve also fitted a Huco fuel pump and this makes for easier starting . The pump is by the battery .
  13. The inhibitor switch is bolted to the side panel Paul
  14. This is where I’ve fitted the Huco on my Vitesse Paul
  15. How many clips for the centre strip . Asking for a friend 😁 Paul
  16. Hi Colin . Do you how many I need for my Vitesse ? Paul
  17. Not sure of the correct terminology . Its the rivet clips securing the chrome trim for the Herald/Vitesse part GHF1461 They seem very expensive is there a workaround ? Paul UPDATE , just seen Canleys at 49 pence each

    Vitesse price

In the late 60’s I had a herald convertible and apart from 5.5 ins rims fitted a SAH shortened rear spring which gave negative camber . Seemed a simple solution to the tuck under issue at the time . Paul
  19. Ordered a web exclusive on line . New Compressor . Website said free delivery , but on checkout added £50 delivery charge 😨Changed the order to collection from store and the £50 disappeared . 5 days and a collection time advised together with a “tracker” which said on the way to shop . Collection time went and no collection confirmation text received so rang , held on hold for 10mins and no problems as goods were ready for collection . Asked why I hadn’t received text . Silence then I’ll check with the shop . 10 mins later , the shop will ring you sir only to hear goods were out of stock , though still for sale on the website . I wrote a stinker on Trustpilot and had a reply from Halfrauds as they wanted more info to investigate and to confirm my complaint was genuine . Lesson learnt keep away and take my business where it would be appreciated . If Halfrauds reply I’ll update this post Paul
  20. NOS Vitesse Bonnet on EBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185504268809? Currently £350 . What’s it going to sell for ? Paul
