  1. Couldn't that be a job for the 3D printer fraternity?
  2. Funnily enough (no pun intended) I knew that. I was merely explaining WHY the change had occurred, for our younger audience. (Slaps Doug in exasperation)
  3. Not so; it's one LED inside a dome so the light goes out all around, same as a normal bulb. I tried the other white plastic led versions earlier and they were terrible, but these are excellent.
  4. You an insert a one-way valve into the fuel line which will prevent drain-back; I've not tried one personally but they're quite cheap.
  5. Apparently they changed it for the USA audience as children wouldn't be interested in a book with the word 'Philosopher' in the title. JK Rowling didn't object as she wasn't as well known then as now but later claimed she would have. They also changed words like 'crumpet' to 'muffin' to suit the language differences. (I suppose 'Crumpet the Mule' wouldn't sound quite right either.)
  6. https://www.raceways.co.uk/Spinners.htm This kind of thing? I hope I'm right, the description is a bit confusing. Those also require an adaptor, I'm sure there are cheaper about.
  7. £1.30??? You were done! Mine were 50p each, I bought the entire tray from the stand at whatever show it was!
  8. It seems to have been recovered; let's hope in good condition with no damage. According to the TV last night car crime is on the up again; over here we have a lot of 'creeper' burglaries where the thieves enter a house and will take keys from the owner's bedside while he's asleep only inches away. The worrying thing is that they often visit the kitchen first and get the biggest knife they can find, which is then left lying on the stairs or floor afterwards. Scary!
  9. I park in my local LIDL and use the cafe opposite, then sneak back to the car and pretend I've just come out of the supermarket. BTW if trying the suck method for fuel, beware, it lingers for ages. I've just bled a central-heating boiler and despite two coffees and a mouth full of Wrigglys I can still taste the oil.
  10. All I can say is: persevere, Peter, it'll loosen eventually. You probably don't need to remove it so loosen the clamps and rotate it until the bulb you need access to can be reached more easily. The bulb holder should simply be a push-fit in the gauge. You can get LED bulbs that are the exact same dimensions and screw-fitting as the original bulb, I'll attach a pic of the ones I bought. There are a few on eBay at present, but some in different lens shapes, so choose the ones you prefer.
  11. Interestinger and interestinger. I've just noticed that one is Autobooks, and one Autopress, but both by the same author and remarkably identical, with the same ISBN number and exact text as in your lower photo, even down to the odd print for the Third Edition line. Wonder why?
  12. Has anyone tried the solar-powered vents for car dehumidifying? If you have a garage with a window, and park the car so that the vent gets what light comes in, would they work sufficiently to keep air circulating through the car? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Car-Ventilator-Fan-Solar-Powered-Auto-Vehicle-Window-Air-Vent-Radiator-Fans/263927095084?hash=item3d7347df2c:g:EoUAAOSwk6hba-fM I had the same problem as Pete with the CTEK, it lasted a year then refused to play. CTEK's Customer Service reply was along the lines of: Sorry, we can't help, buy another one.
  13. That's interesting! Mine's blue, dated 1973. It states it was first published in 1970 and then obviously updated to include the later models, and mine appears to be the last revised version. Like the Haynes manual it's a vinyl-wrapped cover, which makes me feel that it was designed to be used in the garage and wiped clean afterwards. These days I have to refer to a laptop which has the photos I took before starting anything; it's not as wipe clean as the book nor does it bounce as well when it slides off whatever I've set it on.
  14. Lol... consider it more pride of ownership than anything else, certainly not one-upmanship. Single phase, installed in about two hours and has saved back, neck and kneecaps from more wear and tear. The mattress lying to the front is what it replaced. Many of the local club use it these days, when I don't have something of my own stuck on it permanently that can't be removed due to a lack of wheels or other mobility - the hire price is usually biscuits.
  15. Let me think, Clive... like me, you're getting too old to lie under cars any more; like me, you want a good lift that preferably gets all four wheels off the ground... hmmmm... This one cost less than Anglefire's hydraulic lift too, by about £300. If you have the room they're brilliant.
  16. This is the answer that seller gave to someone who posted negative feedback, when their 'R9' hose reacted with petrol within 24 hours: "Buy our Cohline Bio Fuel Hose then, not the cheapest." Speaks volumes, doesn't it?
  17. How about pale green and a sort of orangey-brown centre? To answer Doug's query... it's easier to get Intereurope than Outereurope, that's for sure....
  18. That one may have already gone (unless my search parameters are incorrect) but there's another for £7.50; however if you're really flush you could buy new:
  19. I like the 1965 Mk1 Vitesse where the vendor claims 'many convertibles are converted Heralds - beware!'
  20. That is a much more honest looking car than any others so far. Worth the extra expense, it'll be more get-in-and-drive straightaway. Go see it.
  21. Can't see it, as I'm not on FB so won't let me access it.
  22. A timely warning for the rest of us - thanks Paul. Can I ask - who was the seller, and what sort of description was on it?
  23. Excellent start; keep us posted! One small issue - that outrigger repair; I'd have been inclined to replace the entire thing so one for the welding experts: does welding / patching it like that make it stronger or weaker?
  24. There's a lot of overspray round that engine bay, even the alternator fan blades are coated - have they stayed in that position or are they all red? Compare it to the faded red paint in the 'bonnet open' shot. Definitely an aerosol can respray, and the hood appears to be held on with large washers. The door gaps also look very tight - poorly fitted sills? Engine might have been restored 800 miles ago but at how many miles per year since? Not for me, either.
  25. And a full set of tyres, those will be long dead and probably unsafe.
