  1. OK, let's be precise: CP is 150BHP and CR is 125BHP. Life's never dull with a Triumph!
  2. Hi Scrapman, I've got it! CP = 150HP and CR = 12HP. Thanks for getting me on my way!
  3. Thanks Scrapman, Can you please clarify CP and CR? Apologies if I'm being dim. Paul
  4. Hi, I've recently been lucky enough to purchase a TR6 manufactured in 1972. I also own a GT6 Mk3 manufactured in 1970 right at the start of the production run (No.16) which I'm restoring. The GT6 has a hazard flasher switch. The TR6 does not. I have the Driver's handbook for the TR ,which I believe is the original, which contains narrative and pics that say/show clearly my RHS vehicle does not have hazards but that the LHS version does. Also, the TR has a headlight flash/dip switch in the footwell although the handbook makes no mention of this but does say this function is achieved from the column lighting stalk which in my case provides the three functions - on/off, side and headlights. The handbook says the light's on/off function is provided by a rocker switch on the dash to the RHS of the steeringwheel, below which should be the small square version of the combined wiper/washer control I've seen on other Triumphs. On mine both switches are the vertical oblong type, the upper switch is the wiper control, the lower the washer. The corresponding wiring diagram does show a hazard switch/unit. In the handbook the sketch diagram of the dashboard (as opposed to the pics of the instruments and switches etc) is exactly the same as my installed dash. It seems strange that a safety function such has hazard warning lights would not be installed on a 1972 build vehicle. As I'm right at the start of my TR journey if anyone has ideas, thoughts or even the actual answer to these anomalies I'd appreciate hearing them - I just hate not understanding/knowing! Many thanks, Paul
  5. Thanks to one and all, plenty to ponder on. Paul
  6. Hi, Has anyone any experienced based advice to offer on external all car covers? I will need to leave the car (TR6) outside for a while and want to buy the best available. I've seen "best buys" advertised ranging in price from £30 through to £300. I'm aware, too, that the club has offers. Any advice will be gratefully received. Paul
  7. I meant Stratford upon Avon at the great Triumph fest. Bloody predictive text.
  8. Many thanks. I'll check the contents against a parts diagram and see if it's complete. Paul
  9. Hi, I bought a boxed automec brake pipe kit labelled "GT6 Mk3 " by the seller at Stafford today. However he couldn't confirm if the kit was complete or for which model/variant it was for so I haggled and got a good price and can always resell if it's not suitable for me and I can confirm which car it's for. Can anyone advise me as to how I can confirm if it is for a GT6 and, if so, which one? The packaging has the reference GB 6224 printed on it. Many thanks, ps It's many, many years since I've attended a TSSC event and I thought Stafford excellent but where have the all the GT6s disappeared to?
  10. Hi, Can I remove the tailgate hinge assembly by simply removing the bracket bolts and lift it out? Will I encounter potential issues with the spring being under tension and are there any other issues I should be aware of? Thanks.
  11. Hi, Has anyone any experience of the above: manufacturing/material/build quality etc. Also, any advice on where I might get my hands on a decent second hand pair would be appreciated. Paul
  12. All, Thanks. Richard, "But the door glass must be Mk4 or 1500 to fit the GT6 door opening." Do you mean unless the quarterlight frame is in place? Or is it the internal channels that need changing? Paul
  13. Hi, Can anyone please advise if Spitfire doors and GT6 Mk3 doors interchangeable? Given the GT6 has the quarter light frame I assume some mods may be required. Any help much appreciated. thanks, Paul
  14. Hi, Can someone please let me know what material the rear air vent filter (part number 624400) is made from. I'm guessing it's foam but I'd appreciate confirmation. Thanks, Paul
  15. Chris, What is stamped on the commisson plate? All the details should be there. Paul
  16. I would like to echo Badwolf's appreciation for Tom and the others involved. Having worked my entire life in IT I know only too well the complexity that sits behind the simplicity that end users expect. Respect, and if it's being done voluntarily, even more so! Thank you!
  17. Hi, I've just done mine with aerosol etch primer in readiness for covering with an epoxy primer and then top coat. Out of interest, I used Halfords etch primer which I found excellent. it gave a quality coverage and no runs. I had to finish off with an alternative etch (I had a time constraint and couldn't get to Halfords) which was much thinner and needed a much longer and more careful application. Lesson learnt: don't assume all paints are the same quality/consistency. Well worth investing 5 minutes assessing the characteristics of the product you've chosen before applying. Paul
  18. Hi Qu1ckn1ck, I've sent you a personal mail (I hope) please reply with details of what you want for them etc. and thanks for the offer. regards, Paul
  19. With a small garage you can barely walk around... Hi, I, too, have a small garage but have found the best way to maximise the space is to buy a set of wheel dollies. Just can't get over just how much easy flexibility it gives. Best £100 I've spent so far. Paul
  20. Hi, I'm looking to purchase a pair of CD150 CDSE carburettors for my early GT6 Mk3. Ideally I'd like models 3369L and 3369R which I believe would have been fitted originally and operate with the Smiths' emission valve so will not have the breather tube connectors. If you can help please let me know. In addition, any advice on suitable alternative models to the above and the pros and cons associated with them will be appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  21. Paul, Pit envy🤢! Can I ask was the cut and excavation straight forward and how long did it take? Will you back fill with concrete or some other material? Paul
  22. Hi, Don't think I'd go out on the road in this day and age without wing mirrors. Too much happens too quickly not to have the best all round vision possible. As for "with or without", I'd wait until the seats are in and adjusted for you and trial both (I guess someone will need to hold them for you) then make the call. Unless, of course, you want originally then it's easy. Paul
  23. Hi, in the small ads in Practical Classics is SteeringWheelRestoration.com 01843844962 or 07795182563. Paul
