  1. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
  2. Hi, Will someone please advise me as to the the general spec for the cable used in the harness as I need to order cable to make repairs. Also, I’ll be grateful for any suggestions as to suppliers. thanks, Paul
  3. Hello, The moveable air flow directors on my heater outputs into the footwell are seized. The face louvres are fine. Does anyone know of a technique to free them up? Can I just squirt in some lubricant? thanks.
  4. Hi, l”ve just realised this was part of another thread! I know the Mk1 and 2 GT6 windscreen can be be unbolted from the fascia reasonably easily - but as for the Spitfire ?????
  5. Hi Alex, I’ll send you a private message with details of a process I successfully used to rebuild the front end. Paul
  6. Yes, it could. But Richard says he drove home so it seems it’s unlikely to be the cause. Paul
  7. I have a friend who has, for as long as I can remember, and I am 73, had Alvis cars as his passion. He maintains there is absolutely nothing, in terms of parts etc., that he cannot get. It is just a matter of being prepared to innovate, restore, adapt, make or pay to keep the marque running. Let’s keep the faith. It’s 25 years since my GT6 was last on the road but it will return. EUREKATRIUMPH

I know North Wales fairly well (as far as our cars are concerned). Just beware of any “professional” web site that contains spelling errors. Paul
  9. Hi DS, I had similar issues when I bought my GT6 and found that just about every “additional” and “non standard” wire that had been introduced by POs had been done to save them the effort/time of finding and resolving correctly whatever particular problem they faced. Eventually I established the car did have a full loom 98% of which was fine. I know you say it has a non standard loom but I would encourage you to check things further as it would be a hell of a job for a PO to install a non standard one. Also, consider taking the seats out as it makes getting into those awkward but sometimes necessary contorted positions a lot easier. Buy a head lamp so you can have two hands free to work with and, when you do decide to venture into some unorthodox body position ask your wife/husband/partner/other responsible adult to check on you every 30 minutes just in case you get stuck ( as a friend of mine did)! Good luck and let’s know how you get on. Paul
  10. Hi A, Welcome to the forum and enjoy the GT6. In my humble opinion mirrors are best fitted to the doors rather than the wings. If you use the search facility of the forum you’ll find a number of discussions on the various options etc. The Club shop has a number on sale. What I’d very strongly advise is not to be tempted to drive without mirrors for the sake of keeping the car “original”. It’s really scary!! Paul
  11. Hi BFG, This is good stuff! Thanks for taking the time out to share it. Paul
  12. Thanks Phil! A timely response as the weather has delayed things with the roof being felted today and a self leveller after Christmas. The construction includes a DPM and I’ll take on board all you’ve advised. Many thanks for taking the time out to respond with such detail. Paul

    Spot the Carb

Hi, Are there any other numbers other than the A951 anywhere on the carbs? Paul
  14. Richard, Many thanks, much appreciated. Paul
  15. Hi, Does anyone have any instructions/documents for the above that they can scan and send to me please? I’ve had a dig around but haven’t been able to find anything. Thanks, Paul
  16. Hello, Work has started on my garage extension which will include a workshop area. It’ll be an elongated version of my existing single garage, and so share a common dividing wall, as I can’t afford to have it opened up to create a conventional double garage open space. I want to create the best working space I can and would appreciate any advice/experience/learnings folk may have who’ve done a similar job and in particular on sealing and painting a new concrete floor? Many thanks, Paul
  17. Jim, The nearest area meeting to you is probably North Wales, followed by Wirral and then Cheshire. I live in Great Sutton and attend the Wirral meeting which is on the second Tuesday of the month at the Cottage Loaf at Thurstaston, we're a friendly bunch with a range of vehicles and experience. Starter issues

Some advIce please. I’m experiencing problems with starting. On occasions when I turn the key the starter “whirrs” but doesn’t engage the flywheel. If I put the car in 1st and turn the key it jumps forward (obviously) and on the next turn engages properly. Can someone please point me through the diagnostic process I should adopt to sort this? Thanks, Paul
  21. Hi, Thanks Paul H for the the heads up on Auto Glym. Paul
  22. Hi, My son used this product on his garage door with what i can best described as remarkable results - looks better than new. The website mentions use on vehicles and I just wondered if any members have used it on our cars and is so how, on what and with what results. Thanks
  23. Chris, I've recently removed the rear vents and headlining etc. and it was all very straight forward and simply fitted together. With you saying you didn't take it apart, could it be plastic ducts are from a Mk 1/2? Just a thought. Paul
