Check those valves first as it would have to be an enormous crack to blow back that much out of the carb😮

be aware that some come with a side light clear window in the rear reflector of the unit as used on some Dolomites etc. Not a problem but you can see it from the outside...

yours are definitely 5 3/4" (as far as I know 6 1/4" dont exist) and the part number should start with a 5 not a 7 or they will be too big....

These on eBay are the right size with the 3 connections for dip/main beam (2 pin also available) and I THINK should do the job but I cant vouch for how good they are...

No sorry these are 7" units like a Heralds or GT6/Spitfire not the smaller 5 3/4" you need...

Yes the exhaust arrangement isnt great and I had a few gasket failures but always from an exhaust to the exterior so you can see and hear the leak. The distance is much greater between the exhaust and intake ports so a failure there is much more unlikely and Ive certainly never seen that. However in the end the solution was simple - just keep the manifold fixings tight and since including that in my routine maintenance Ive never had any more porblems...

How has this problem started? One trip out it was fine and the next it did this with nothing changed inbetween?

I think it has the potential to make the readings poorer but as theyre ok cant see in this case its going to change anything...

Perhaps run it with the rocker cover off (shouldnt be too much oil) to see if you can spot any valves misbehaving?

Is it possible an inlet valve is getting sticky on 4, 5 or 6 when it warms up although thought this would show on the compression test...

It looks like a modern multi layer steel gasket with a rubber coating both side for adhesion to the surfaces and with this construction I cant see any difference in which way up its used. However are the bores alright? On magnification number 1 looks a bit pitted or is that just the photo...

Yes Id use it again as none of the pitting looks to be deeper than the threads so theres still enough 'meat'...

These are not like modern stretch studs so no problem replacing just one if you really think its cross section has been reduced enough by the rust to be weakened....

I really think its going to be difficult to find a small enough modern replacement as the original actually fits in the dash surround so as to not protrude and interfere with the dash switches... -

ok definitely not too lean so sould try going a little weaker. I know when Ive gone too far as I can feel my Vitesse bogs down slightly when driving along...

Do you use any sort of additive in your fuel as this quite heavily discolours my plugs...

Camber query on Vitesse 2 Litre

According to the workshop manual the heavier mk2 saloon wheels go to -2º camber with 4 passengers so I would have thought the installation between diff and spring of one of the lowering spacer blocks available (they come in 3 thicknesses) would achieve something similar. The 1/2" version has worked well on my mk1 and didnt require longer spring fixing studs... -
will be heat stamped on them somewhere and interesting to see...
