Ok if you removed the dizzy complete with is drive gear its very easy to put it back in the wrong position. However if you just took out the top section thats driven by an offset lug its much harder to put back in wrong. However a change of position would explain your symptoms....
Anybody had success repairing headlining as in glueing up splits and tears? There used to be vinyl weld adhesive which I found pretty good years ago as it bridged gaps and was paintable but I cant find that now...
Are you sure on this as I would have thought the exhaust restriction would only really be noticeable at high revs. Pootling shouldnt be a problem and then the plugs should stay clean?
Only problem I can see is you might get an air pocket where the hose connects to the MC which might impeed the flow of fluid. However you could clear this by lifting the MC up when its filled to clear any air before fixing in its position...
Ive got 165/80 13 on my vitesse with no problems back or front and these show as being 8mm bigger in diameter than your 14" jobbies... Offset is important though and I think my minilite replicas are +20mm?
Trouble is to unscrew trunnion to inspect VL or change trunnion I believe involves taking of the calipers, then the disc/hub unit and finally the disc guard. Not difficult but a pain just for an inspection!
The trunnions are designed to wear much before the VL so unless its done huge mileage with multiple trunnion changes the thread should be ok (corrosion damage/cracks is another matter). Also there will always be some play in them and this isnt noticeable in driving so dont be too zealous and remember the old original part is sometimes better than modern pattern replacement...
If the diff is good why not try the car with it first? It will certainly be driveable and you might actually like that ratio specially if you have overdrive and dont do many long high speed runs...
Think whine is much more likely to be a bearing. In fact Ive never seen an obviously worn gear set and I think the recon units are just used gears rebuilt with new bearings👍
You can download the original Triumph workshop manual from vitessesteve.co.uk and its pretty much essential reading so you then get all the info first hand👍
Dont forget theyre in a thick plastic bag as well😳 Anyway Id rather the manufacture save the money of the protector so they can use better quality rubber for the gaiter! My last ones didnt last 2 years with minimal use...
Yes agreed for normal use but I would accept a bit more protection for severe off road applications and Im talking Sahara here like most 4x4 are used for😁
Still think its for extra protection in use as looking at the photo of the way it was supplied the cover was pretty loose and wouldnt have given much protection from all those other units piled on top. Remember a lot of our bits are common to old Land Rovers and the like....
