I had changed the thermostat, it was 82 and new is 82. Def opening as rad hot.

I only took the wax capsule out and replaced with one penny in each. Done this to a couple of spitfires I've owned.

Took out for a run, ran fine at 10 deg before but guage still showed hot. Will have a play tomorrow morning before work.

Gave the yellow spitfire a rest today, took my spitfire and 2500s out for a twenty mile run. A few niggles but otherwise all ok

Hi, hopefully a quick one. Running a 2500s estate on points and condenser with su carbs. What timing with experience runs best. Just adjusted mine to 10 deg before as it was nearer 16. Different years and models seem to be all over the place and experience would be good. Cheers

Nice work. Glad the waxstat's on the carbs had been changed for standard jets. I always found them to be a pain when leaded ran out.

Bent hubs make adjusting the brakes a real bind . I have some spare if you get desperate.

I would not worry, we all swear at ours. Welcome , I don't think there is anything this forum can't find the answer too. So if you get stuck just shout and someone will be along with a solution.

Love the work your doing on the car. The channel is correct apart to what looks like a hole to the bottom, I will see if I have a photo of one of mine. if you zoom in you can just see the channel. Will photo a better shot later. found this picture

Old one had my 2000mk1 on the drive and a gt6 (under a tarp) in the back. The latest has my old blue spitfire but thats now sold quite a while back. Wonder when the next pass over will be?

Just took the spit for a test drive officer. Got flashed by a stag? I did a quick wave but flashed by too quick. Was it you? I was just going out of southery on my way round the sixteen mile test run. Got pulled out on by new one of those big Porsche's, woman not looking, lucky I was slowing for the corner. Overtook and put my foot down but had to slow down as the front end became very light! She kept up! But could not overtake!

Very nice, I do like a 2000/2500. I've seen it on the show and point it out to my wife every time! I'm on my third, you may have seen my 2500s estate I'm spraying now. I can't wait to be able to get out and about in it again. My mk1 used to surprise people at the lights! Love those straight six engines.

Looking good, were you able to take plenty of measurement of the front cross member, I did this to a spit 30 years ago and was paranoid about the bonnet fit until I could fit it.

Burn out old, threaded bar and sockets to install new.
