  1. Our local factors in downham market use "mahle" oil filters. Using this info and a web serch the oc981 filter is a direct replacement for the fram 2964 or unipart gfe173. It fitted straight on and is the same as size as the one that came off, "vfl387" motaqup. At the same time i got a filter for my 1.7 puma engined spitfire "oc 460" mahle filter. Looking at it this looks like it would fit but is about 3/4 of an inch longer! Hope this helps others.
  2. Good thread this one. Was thinking of electronic ignition for the 2500s. Had the aldon one in an old spit that kept it running even when the dissy got a good woble on. been looking on ebay and see the whole distributor with a coil for about eighty but should i look up aldon again?
  3. Well done, we just need some nice weather now for some top down motoring
  4. Cheers, thanks for the replies.
  5. Quick question, going to service the 2500s. What filters will fit so I can buy at the local factors?
  6. Well done, the last time I used my spitfire as a daily driver was in the 90's, keep up the good work.
  7. One near miss, one not. My sisters ex as a kid threw a safe off the top of a tower block, just to see if he could open it. It didn't open and left a big dent in a path below. He was lucky he didn't kill someone below! One not, someone I worked with liked to work on his car. Jacked it up and went under, the Jack failed. He lived with his grandad who had gone away for the week. He laid under the car all week before he was found. Please support the car before going under.
  8. I did make one for my mk1 2000 out of a Ford escort one. I thought there would be a load of old ones hanging about somewhere to save me some effort.
  9. Nicely spotted, I love the club but the tight wad in me can't stretch to that much! My local iron mongers could supply the metal for approx 10 pounds and I could make it. Any one know what it attached to underneath . If I can't find a second hand one looks like making will be the other option.
  10. Cheers Pete, will remember when we get out of lockdown.
  11. To make my 2500s more useable a tow bar would be great. As selling looks nigh on impossible in the current climate. Since I got rid of my last modern with a new one I have been without a tow vehicle. The new car with its 1.5 turbo can only tow 600kg! So not much point getting a tow bar for that, strange as the van version is about double that! Not had much success finding one for sale, so was wondering if anyone had one kicking about? How much can a 2500s estate tow?
  12. Looks great, bet your sad to see it go. The way things are going in the london area everyone will be on a bicycle or horse! Think of all those claims from people tripping over the power cables to the electric cars!
  13. Where are you? Maybe someone local to you could help? I'm west norfolk/camb border area
  14. Do you remember the Vauxhall frontiers at luton? All sat in the car park near the airport!
  15. Cleaned the inside where the bush sits, no paint in there. Soapy water , right size sockets to push in. Make sure the metal insert is put in after the bush is fitted. Fingers crossed
  16. Have you thought about the rx8 gearbox, 5 or 6 speed. I know in mine its a very smooth and quick change. Can easily handle the power.
  17. I have a silverline electric finger file, it has been great for getting into those tight spaces.

    Welding Helmets

Now what makes you think anything as dodgy as that ever happened 🤔😉

    Welding Helmets

At home I use a cheap auto helmet, its ok and I can see ok for the mig welds I do. At work we all have our own parweld air fed helmets, what a difference, nice cool air flow and a large clear viewing area. Being food industry its stainless tig work. The new ones with the filtered air make working more pleasant.
  21. Well done, looks very good. Time for the paint!
  22. Its a big site, maybe well spread out? Being in November and our current luck the weather will dampen it down if another lock down or ban doesn't!😟
  23. Unusual but not impossible. Had it with a mgf! Waterways we blocked with casting marks. Couple of times though it was core plugs corroded, on my spit 1500 and an escort 1300, especially the ones round the back of the engine!
  24. What happened? I am of that mid generation, young enough to see the me first, my right lot but grew up in a house of the old style of respect for others. Probably due as I was born late into my mum and dads life, my brother and sister almost a generation older. I tend to look after things as if they have value , mine or not. Yet there seems to be a large crowd these days that don't care for anything but themselves? That's why when I see some one like pete put themselves out to organise an event I want to support it. So to keep too much out of thread drift, my triumph's when they go will still have the cars history but you may find it behind the door card!
