  1. Many people use a hammer to make the dual circuit master cylinder fit... Not really my style but it is possible.. I am swapping my single to dual but I am swapping the body tub of the MKIV for a 1500. The bulge is actually welded in so cutting it out and/or making space is really not too difficult. It may require positioning holes for the bolts. I am also reusing/replacing the 1500 brake lines. You can pretty much get away with re-using the MKIV rear brake lines. The front you will have to refashion a section from the master cylinder and get a "T" union to split it to the front. Going dual singles is a common mod for racing. Mostly because the rules for most racing is that things have to "period correct" and if there were no tandem master cylinders this is the only "legal" option for getting a dual circuit. FYI: All tandem Spitfires also had a PDWA which most users eliminate as they are prone to leaking and only provide a the barest of higher value in measures of safety.,...
  2. What does SC mean? I broke the knob off my pump (sounds a bit rude...) so I bought another from a breaker. Neither worked until I put the valves is now I get a good meter of squirtage...
  3. You can get a one way valve in any aquarium supply store that will take over any of the valves that are acting up. I put in 3, one near the bottle and one in each of the tubes to the jets. A little over kill but they were so cheap I didn't see why not... I swear they ejeac... I mean squirt much better...
  4. Actually Stift can also be a peg, stick, rod... oh dear...
  5. Gummi in German is also slang for a condom....
  6. I had a similar problem. i was working in marketing and we wanted to have the same pamphlets printed around the world (translated/localized of course). We had meetings and discussed things but the Japanese were way behind. Turns out when we said "printer" meaning "company that prints" they understood "device that prints" . We started saying "printing company" and things were clear....
  7. Sound like members of a EuroVision band...
  8. Did you have them ground down?
  9. Always get the box nice and hot before a drain... that should get most stuff out... Use a magnetic drain plug to keep chunks out of meshy parts...
  10. There is guy in Blegny near the German border call Cai (nickname Dyngo) that has 3 floors of spares often from US cars that are rust free... I can give you his contact if you ever need it... Speaks French, English and Dutch and I assume Flemish (he is Dutch)
  11. Or barn... He used to be based near here... now he is up north... still, in many ways one of the best places as he would not sell something he wouldn't put it on his car himself...
  12. Which store was that from...? L!morea? B@stuck? Spitfire Sch€une?
  13. I fixed this recently on a friend's 1500: Had to replace the adjuster and somehow the rear brake cylinder stood proud so we used a C clamp to push it in. Went on like a breeze...
  14. Carpet holds a LOT of water and therefore moisture. Also all the dirt and hair hold a lot of moisture as well. Even a thin layer of dust holds moisture. I had a problem with my Skoda and found getting the most powerful vacuum cleaner to and giving everything a good cleaning helped.
  15. Always wondered why the "lowering" block was bigger .... probably because I didn't really think about it...:-D
  16. I would have thought a lighter color would be better but what do I know I have a degree in French and German so I must be qualified to talk about everything... 😄

    Poly Bush Fitting

Isn't that called Marmite in some countries? 😄
  18. Working on brakes is sooooo full of double-entendres: Push harder It´s firming up now Yep, it`s hard... Oh no, it´s gone soft I can feel the nipple Oh that is tight! Pump it more! Can you feel the friction? Is it in all the way? Is it down? Too much pressure... it`s leaking...
  19. I find when the mice can't keep up they squeak terribly.... 😄
  20. There are one way valve bleeding pipes for motorcycles. I used one back in the day and it worked well by myself.
  21. The bulb maybe but the light switch....?
  22. Here in Germany there are H4 and H7 LED "bulbs" that are allowed in many cars including Triumphs. https://www.osram.de/am/night-breaker-led/index.jsp#_m603__accordion_1 Sometimes you have to have a special lens (like WIPAC) When they are off they look the same as standard. The color when on is more cold white than warm white. There are arguments if you loose your "classic car" status or not. Some say it is a consumable like wiper blades and therefore OK. Others say it is not allowed (here in Germany having a bluetooth radio can cause you to lose your historic status). here a guy tested them: https://spitfire-forum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13498&hilit=LED&start=15 This only applies to Germany. I know that other EU countries are more lenient.
  23. Mine works well as a door stop...
