  1. You can buy new from a number of suppliers, sit down before ringing, secondhand will usually be rotten and still expensive. You could also get fibreglass in the past.
  2. Yes not too far away, see you at a meeting soon? Triumph not essential!!!
  3. There's is a rear spring lowering block fitted. That is why no cover fitted.
  4. If the car is standard, which it appears to be, then Germany's may also be a suitable destination as well.
  5. One of my cars has the "cheap" set you can buy off EBay, and they seem fine. Used to be Bad Boy Classics selling them? I have also picked up second hand Cibie ones and they are really good, new Cibie ones are about £50-£60 each I think.
  6. I was going to say just buy an Old and unloved speedo off EBay, and Rob the parts.
  7. Marc Send me an email and I will send you Daves contact details cheers colin
  8. I know of a basket case Mk1 near Southend. Needs lots of work!
  9. Remove the chain then carefully put a puller on the crank gear and pull the whole assembly off
  10. I have done that as well with a Herald Estate, neither of us checked if the roof was actually bolted on, and it took off as we went over the Orwell Bridge , luckily the ropes round the c posts holding the tailgate in kept it attached to the car, it did grind the front edge off the roof against the road, and scare the life out of my accomplice behind me.
  11. I did that once with a car my brother bought, a Micra with a seized engine, it wasn't seized for long after I put it in gear in a momentary loss of concentration.
  12. There is. Triumph owner up on the fens who runs a vehicle moving side-line, I can send you Petes number if you want. cheers colin
  13. I was going to put my money on the 1500fwd. must be loads of 1500 cranks knocking about.
  14. Trying to work out where in Colchester you are, can't recall seeing any of your cars about over the years
  15. They are really sister companies and both as utterly annoying as each other when it comes to looking for parts. there is a few ways of getting non-specific stuff but it is painful and unreliable. Equivalents is sometimes the way to go. Sparkplugs are 1500 Midget for many Triumphs Oil filters if you have a spin on adaptor are 2000 VW Golf 1.8 the cheap Cibie headlights are TR7.
  16. Kerry for 10k you should be getting a very very good car, fairly good for 10k sounds like a dealer car or someone being speculative. Make sure you know what to look for in detail before viewing if you are looking to spend that's much. Are you north or south Essex?
  17. Could do with upping the compression a touch.
  18. Still waiting? Get your finger out!!! I reckon it was a reject and went round for rework as car is chassis FH9xx and registered on day the Mk4 was launched. i would have expected very early cars to have engine and chassisvery close together as they practised building them
  19. It isn't IKC, probably RKC I think
  20. Spookily I used to have a Spitfire engine number FH14HE
  21. I fitted a set to a mates TR4 before a 10CR. Exactly the same problem. Not yet r esolved 7 years later. Just have to remember to give the pedal an initial quick press before braking. He has been advised to keep the brake pedal pressed down for a few weeks to "reshape" the seals. I wonder if the pistons are not a smooth as they look, so the seal and piston grip each out slightly, Perhaps a few hours with some very fine wet and dry?
  22. I think you get a "middle" set of ratios using an Ital gear cluster set
  23. One word of warning, I took Petes route when I could not get oil pressure just cranking (This was after a filter change on an engine with good pressure) and it didn't return even with the engine running, I didn't do the bearings any favours. I made up an adaptor for the top of the oil pump drive in the end and do it with an electric drill now. has happened 3 times now, once I get the pressure up for the first time never any more issues. Full you filled spin on filter, oil squirted into PRV hole and allowed to drain down slightly, nothing would get the pressure up apart from 2 minutes with the drill flat out in reverse. Then perfect until nI starts oil change
  24. I have only ever found chrome under the black bezels...
