  1. I wouldjustbuy some old lights and raid the screws from them.
  2. The switch has a flat on it so you need to remove the nut completely
  3. ISTR reading that the latest hybrid drive trains in F1 cars are approaching 50% thermal efficiency. Some very clever stuff being done with preignition chambers, the different version s of which can be identified from the exhaust notes apparently, and the way the hybrid parts interact. Couple of years and we should start to see that filtering down to road cars
  4. Remember them? Still got a couple somewhere! many a happy time going to Westcliffe on Sea to buy parts, when it was their only store. stopped using them when they started to open the big stores, the prices had to go up to cover their costs I guess.
  5. The difference will be down to whether it has the TR7 column or the earlier style. are the splines different?
  6. You haven't said Mk1 or Mk2 also 2000 is different to GT6 cheers
  7. Just spotted your number plate through the bonnet gap. What car is it on, certainly not a Vitesse
  8. I would have thought that parts that are unavailable from suppliers are not that likely to be free, but a good idea that needs following up.
  9. Buy the Cibie ones, they really are the best. look on Euro Car Parts when they have a sale for TR 7 ones,
  10. Before implementing lesson 4 I used to undo my front springs with a pair of incredibly knackered single jaw ones, inside a roll of carpet. Still lost a fence panel.
  11. Nice looking car not sure it is the best implementation of the internal hinges as it seems to have had the nose of the bonnet remodelled slightly. easier to do it with a Mk2 GT6 bonnet. You cut the hinge boxes off and add pivots to shortened bonnet tubes to work off the front rail. Picton Sports cars have done quite a few of these. Dave did have a website once with pictures on it, but it looks like he may be late paying the bill... :-)
  12. I have put many cars that were off roads pre-sorn and never had a problem. was even easier when we'd still ha do LVLO as it was next door to my office... :-)
  13. I would have thought you would need a spacer at the bottom of the tube. not sure diameter is such an issue. where did they come from.

    5 SPEED BOX

On the subject of the gearboxes, Tony Lindsey Dean has been selling fully rebuilt and upgraded gearboxes for what seems to be a very good price. I got one a few weeks ago. add a prop and still just under £1k
  15. I am in a fairly low postcode and have 8 cars for my £450. But I am 50 so pretty old.
  16. FJ have share holders to keep happy, that may help you work out why their premiums may be higher. I tired of them doubling my premiums every year then me negotiating the increase back to about 10% so I moved to PJ.
  17. Perhaps you need to ask for the info as the car is illegally parked on your property, they always seem to be more than willing to release data in that case.
  18. It is GR. poorly stamped as usual
  19. Sensible people fit MG wires to their Triumohs as they have larger splined sections
  20. It is basically just a case of removing gauges and switches. Little Allen key for the heater knobs. Dash bolts from behind. Moving gauges less easy, there is a metal panel with holes in it as you will see shortly.
  21. The. Engine could be a CP block with a 2000 crank in it. can you measure the stroke?
  22. Don't worry about the oil, engine oil will be fine. a local member has been using it in his gearboxes for as long as I can remember, it is his daily driver so does seriously mileages.
  23. I liked the original forum that Craig created the best....... :-( it did what it said on the tin.
