British Leyland Badging....

Hi all,

20 years ago when I restored my MK4 Spitfire, I fitted the neat bonnet badge but left off the rear side badges, mainly because they required holes drilled in my new wings.

I also left off the British Leyland badges on the bonnet sides as they were a reminder of Marinas, 1100s & all things poor quality.

All these years on, these old cars gain more respect with every new battery operated car produced.

What are peoples feelings? Few seem to fit them.

personally i like to see the badges was not all bad back then , i had some good leyland cars maxi marina tc 1300 gt  not once did they let me down . paul

I had new wings on my car 25 years ago, I went to pick it up and spotted no Leyland badges. I asked and they said "We assumed you didn't want them, most people don't" 

Such was Leyland's reputation back then.

I still have them in a drawer.

well i had fords vauxhalls back then . cortina that would not start cold mornings vauxhall viva that rusted away , they had faults fond memories for me .

Still Got the Giha Badge, which fell off my Granada. They where stuck on, but the adhesive pads didn`t take to Steam Cleaners. And a Morris Minor Chrome badge too

I too have BL badges on my GT6.

I had BL badges on my GT6 but PO removed them. He thoughtfully stored them in a jar that came with the boxes of parts so when my resto is done they'll be going back on.

I think I too shall refit my British Leyland badges, after all they are original (mounting dimensions anyone???).

Has anyone fitted the rear wing badges without drilling? I siliconed my rear chrome in place 20 years ago & its still fixed on.....
