Bobo63
Considering a servo on the brakes for the other half. Too used to the modern cars! Anyone fitted one? Just wondered where the best location is.
johny
Ive looked at this for a Vitesse and think I would move battery to boot so servo can go in its place. Another possibility is to move the battery further outwards by removing its locator plates so a servo can be squeezed in between the battery and heater box. All other options look pretty messy to me....
68vitesse
Pictures of my 68 Mk1 2L Vitesse no extra holes needed not even in the manifold and completely reversible. Regards Paul.
dougbgt6
One of ours at East Berks installed his Vitesse servo in the boot! Worked fine, although I would have tried to get it under the bonnet. Battery in the boot is fine, another of ours put his battery in the boot so he could put his hand operated clutch mechanism in the battery compartment. trigolf
This my fit. There's just room with a Girling servo.

Yes I see now its the reverse and the air valve needs to be low to help with bleeding the system👍
Bobo63
Thanks for your thought’s on this. Oddly there are a couple of brackets bolted through the bulkhead at the cylinder side doing nothing. Wonder if it had one fitted there at some time? Has a new cylinder on. Maybe they thought it was the problem, but was the servo doing it’s usual thing of leaking fluid into the vac chamber? We’ll have a look at fitting in the same location, or at he battery side as suggested. Many thanks
Pete Lewis
firstly shop around these servo kits are ones size fits all they are not specific to any make/model so just a universal kit there are different assistance ratios available so look at mini MG and other suppliers see who has the best price we shortened the battery tray and fitted ours alongside the battery , mainly as any clues as to how/where were few/none Pete
Peter Truman
In my Vitesse I put the battery in the boot removed the battery brackets on the bulkhead and put the servo there east/west ways
johny
Dont forget Bobo that the pads make a big difference as many now dont work well with our cars so look on here for recommended alternatives....
Bobo63
The one we have got seems to be a 2.3 ratio according to the box. Looks quite neat with the battery. Have a show on Sunday, then we’ll have a proper look. The brakes are fine for me, it’s just herself that finds it less fun. Thanks for the info. Pete Lewis
yes if you try any green pads get a spare pair of underpants if you want to really stop the Mintex 1144 really do work Edited August 19, 2023 by Pete Lewis
dougbgt6
Yup 1144s, they are not just a little bit better they're "Wow! Why did nobody tell me about these?!!!" Doug
68vitesse
Agree about green stuff, had them in my Vitesse eventually changed them for a cheap white box set bought at an automobile, immediate improvement. Only fitted a servo, ratio 1.9:1, to reduce the pedal force. Regard. Paul
AlanT
Another vote for Mintex pads. They totally transformed braking on my Spit 1500. Far easier than a servo…but they do occasionally squeal.
