Tricky
Hi all. Existing Stag owner (my Dads car originally and a bare metal restoration five years ago). Thought I'd maybe cured myself of the urge but I owned two Spitfires in my youth and always lusted after a GT6. Now I've just bought one, and to make matters worse it's a half completed restoration. It's gorgeous and I'm really looking forward to putting it together. As a newcomer to the GT6 I would welcome any input on good and bad things to do in the resto. It's a K Reg Mk III with transverse rear spring and overdrive. Also any useful suppliers of parts other than the Brothers would be good. Thanks for any help you can offer. Pete Lewis
canley classics, mick dolphin, james paddock , td fitchetts , dont forget club shop, and so on. ....many have their own preference base on service etc. realy its search around , get the car valuation from the club as soon as its in condition is getting ready . often the value is far more than you think Pete
Gully
Welcome from a J plate Mk III owner! I use Canleys and Paddocks mainly. Moss are pricey, but have a few parts others don't seem to stock - as long as they are common to Spitfires or TRs. Gully
kevin
I have always found Chic Doig very helpful both in advice a spares, if he doesn't have it he can normally point you in the right direction. Kevin

Kevin +1 on that; they remake a surprising number of panels from scratch and their spares selection is bolstered by a large supply of second-hand parts from wrecks. I've managed to get quite a few OE items from him over the years.
Anglefire
Don't forget David Manners - a Jag specialist originally, but do have a good supply of parts. I have bought stuff from Rimmers (Found them ok on quality and price) , Moss, Canley Classics and the club shop and the odd bit off ebay.
dougbgt6
Bear in mind that a lot of them buy off each other! Rimmers buy from Canley which is why Canley is generally cheaper. However, when I went around the club shop on Twiddle Day, I noticed a plastic gearbox cover for a Spitfire with a Moss label. On checking, later, discovered it was £20 cheaper from the club than Moss! Go figure!

Thanks a lot for this - I had come across them before and then lost the name. They look useful. Richard

I’ve noted Paddocks already and have no intention of getting another Triumph after this - big saloon or not ! My dad had a chocolate brown 2000 which was a lovely old Exec saloon.
