Thanks for the info - lucky escape for me as I was planning to take out a subs. as WHSmith (where I usually buy my copy) is not open . I wonder how many other magazines will go under?

Have ordered a single copy of the last issue from Kelsey; overall a good magazine with a nice mix of articles.

I've brought TW since the original issue, for the last 10  years an Aus Triumph Specialist used to air mail TW out and we paid $100/a for our copies so we got it relatively quickly as the copy in the Newsagents was 2 months old.

Around 18 months ago the Specialist stopped the service, so I ended up getting an 'e copy' thro Pocketmags very cheap $16/a fortunately I have a large 24in monitor so it was easily read.

I don't expect any refund an unfortunate fact of life BUT I will miss my regular Triumph fix!

Due to a Special offer I took up the Classics Monthly mag on e copy and I noticed that Goldsworthy took up as Editor of that mag a few months ago, so I thought something was in the wind!

Now with Classics Monthly, I'm a Triumph or Jag nut so by the time I exclude the Ford BMC Vauxhall Rover articles there's not a lot of content for me, but the cheap cost of e copy is justifiable.

So for my Triumph fix it looks like I'm down to the good old TSSC 'Courier' for my monthly read, even that appears to be lagging in the DIY fix it bag, but I suppose that's what the Forums are for. I did enjoyed the 2 speed wiper article in the last copy and will try converting a old single speed DR3.

sad they cant make it pay.
Simon did a couple of articles on my Herald. We talked about the magazine and classic car mags, he used to work on Practical Classics. In those days he would have a photographer and writers.  Now he is virtually produced the whole mag, interviews, writing the articles and taking all the photos. There was part of Kelsey that sorted the advertising but that was it.
Whole magazine produced by very few people.
I still like a paper magazine it can be read anywhere without having to find tablet, charger, wifi etc..

I haven't read TW in years; I just felt there was not enough in it for my particular interests to justify shelling out.

I keep a few out of date copies of Practical Classics in the car; handy for enforced waits at airports etc... plus you can't swat flies with a Kindle.

  • 2 weeks later...

just had a letter from Kerlsey media transferring the remaining subscription to Classic car Mart.

They are blaming the Covid-19 crisis as the reason for shutting it down, not sure that is the complete reason. You don't often see Triumph world for sale in super markets (well not round Cambridge) etc so I would have thought that most sales are from subscriptions. As for writing new articles, I would have thought they had some in hand a and could have raided there archive....

However they do add, in the small print at the bottom of the letter, that you can choose a different title from the magazines they publish or get a refund.

Back in the days of 'Your Classic' (remember that one?) they merged it with 'Classic and Sportscar' claiming you'll have all the great features of your favourite magazine with extra content... and so the subscriptions were quietly shunted to another magazine - no option of cancelling or refund -  which for about two issues carried the banner 'incorporating 'Your Classic' after which it was never heard of again. They were quite surprised when I didn't renew the next subscription, but I didn't move in the proper social circles for C&S.... :)
