Peter Truman
I wouldn't buy PRC today but it was 15 years ago, when the PRC weren't the piranha's of the world & poor world citizens they are today!
johny
Who knows where things come from and under what conditions, environmental or labour, they were made! I dont trust any of the blurb so the only thing Ive got to go on is the price and maybe a bit of advice on here😁
Paul Amey
Dare I say this but ......Rimmer's do exchange rads at a reasonably price.
Colin Lindsay
£225 for a Herald radiator - I must see how that compares with my recon rad, once I get a price. Interesting that they charge VAT on the £100 exchange surcharge?

johny
But how will you know where the new core fitted to your old rad came from or where the aluminium for your 'UK' made unit was extracted and refined? As I say you might be prepared to pay more for something but its highly unlikely the supplier has the same philosophy....
Peter Truman
Your making me feel guilty and I should get that old copper Spit rad I have in the garage recored just in case and whilst there's still experts to do it!
johny
yes not easy is it☹️ Reckon even more complicated when it comes to paying more for some Fair Trade product as thats even more open to abuses and unexpected consequences! Given that most cars and other vehicles on the road have some kind of radiator, there's no danger of them dying out just yet. Not until after 2030 or whenever when we'll suddenly all go electric and the sun will shine all day.

You just buy a new one. No recores, no repairs. On the plus side, many are very reasonably priced. Golf one (as used on my spitfire and a few GT6's) can be had for under £40. Mine was 9.99 delivered, a real bargain.

Peter Truman
How can you beat this at $59Aus with free local delivery, for a Spit 1500, a 3 row Aluminum radiator. Even if the weld looks a little heavy, you can can afford to replace at 5yr intervals
johny
Ha, Ive just been talking to that company via ebay email trying to find out why the photo doesnt look anything like a Spitfire rad and the answer is that its NOT suitable for that car! They havent said what car its for or why the description is wrong but I wonder if something is getting lost in the translation... Its tempting to buy one just to see what arrives🤪
Peter Truman
Won't bother buying one then, usual price for a 2 Row Spit Alloy here appears to be around $150 to $180. I paid around $100 around 15 years ago for a Spit Mk2 Alloy Rad locally sourced,
