  1. I saw a Stag and a Spitfire(not together) on my way back from Fulham, in the Twickenham area this morning. S
  2. On my Vitesse i lined the whole thing with Dyna-Liner and made extra strips for the edges, much quieter and less fumes than before. Steve
  3. I primed mine with a drill before so it had oil everywhere, and proper break in oil from the land of Donald. It has a 123 Tune USB dissy on it,it fired up first turn of the key, before i wanted it too really.Drove great....for 500 miles, now being rebuilt again.Contributing factor might have been not re-torquing the head down soon enough because i didn`t have the tool for the ARP head bolts. Steve
  4. Sam, Breaking in process is crucial, mine started p,ing petrol from one of the float inlets so had to turn it off straight away, then an oil leak. This was my 1500 that i spent a fortune on,ended up grenading after 500 miles.Cracked head let water in the bore. On another note, I was on the Raiders run (Blue Vitesse) when your old one dropped a valve, hope it all goes well for you. Steve

    Missing bolts

Just putting my exhaust manifold and carbs back on the Vitesse this morning with the spacer, noticed something,no bolts in the right hand engine mount. This must have happened last year when i was having clutch trouble and entrusted the work to my local old school garage, who have a ramp, so it`s easier for them to wrestle the Saloon box out. I have used them for years and will continue to do so,i will tell them when they reopen. I have been driving the car for 6 months like that!. The pic shows where the mount has dropped away from the chassis holes.
  6. Welcome, and good choice on the Vitesse,i bought mine in 1985,now quite modified (2.5L) but standard looking apart from the wheels,(Revolutions).I also have a 13/60 CV. Steve
  7. Get Edd China to do it,even if its takes 94 hours,it`s free, and looks like a pro job. S
  8. I would personally avoid the so called "Upgrade" brake masters on offer.I fitted one and it was awful on my Herald, smaller reservoir and much more leg needed to get the same braking, either refurb or use OE. If you can get the plunger in as far as it will go, i used some fine emery paper and silicone spray to clean the bore up, and sharp tapping on a flat surface(top of a vice for me) to persuade the piston out. This was on a Herald that had been in a garage for 30 years. Steve
  9. DVLA says it was MOT`d 2 weeks ago so still alive. S
  10. I used cage nuts and bolts from an IT cabinet at work. Steve
  11. I have a Spal 11 inch on my Vitesse on an ali rad, never overheats.(See avatar).Only time it crept up near the danger zone last year in hot weather was when i was in a traffic jam and realised the fan wasn`t working, turned out to be a dodgy fuse connection. Steve
  12. Looks like rear inners and outer arches to me. Steve
  13. How about this beastie tailing you.(Tiger)
  14. Starting to build up the roto hubs and CV shafts i have in the shed, not done this before but i am trying to fit new wheel bearings.Got the sleeve of the hub bearing off with careful angle grinding,is there a better way than this?.How the hell do i get the new bearing on?,i don`t have a socket the right size to try in a vice,do i need a press?. Also i believe they have to be shimmed?. Advice appreciated. Steve
  15. This is what i have for the CV conversion of my Herald,it is 460mm end to end. Also looking at it closer i can see the ends are slightly offset. Steve
  16. Don`t know about MK 2 Vitesse,i have a MK 1 Vit that i converted to CV which meant using the Rotoflex wishbones and tie rods, the Roto ones are straight and adjustable (the non roto ones are not straight or adjustable)and i had to drill the outrigger more inboard of the original and bolt the mount bracket to get the correct offset for the bars. I have a set of tie bars in my shed intended for my Herald that i could measure,i have no idea what car they came off though. Steve
  17. I actually have 2 MTP manifolds,i bought one years ago which turned out to be a saloon one, then i found the Vitesse one, they really are a work of art. I will take a photo when i am in my lockup. Steve
  18. Things to do to my Vitesse i haven`t had time to do lately, now with time on my hands... A few years ago i was lucky enough to find an original `Mike the Pipe` 6-3-1 hand made manifold for my Vitesse,it was brand new and never been on a car. The reason as i found out it had never been on a car,was that the angle of the flanges was slightly out so it would not sit flat without fouling the sump flange. I don`t have the facility to heat it and bend so i came up with this,a laser cut 10mm spacer to the exact pattern of the inlet face.I plan to fit this with a gasket either side of it and possibly some high temperature silicon. I hope this doesn`t have any effect on running but time will tell. The two in the picture are mild steel and stainless steel. Then i have a Trunnionless suspension kit to fit that`s been on the shelf for 2 years. Looking forward to more time in the garage. Steve
  19. That Rad is one of the Chinese E bay specials,i have one on my Herald as well, mine has the angled plate by the filler too. i paid about £100 i think but i have seen them cheaper. I still haven`t worked out why mine doesn`t ever let hot water to the expansion bottle. Steve
  20. I ran an unknown FH 1300 engine in my Herald for 5 years,i had twin SU`s and an overdrive gearbox and 3:63 diff. Was a great combo,i even completed the CT Round Britain run in it. Now swapped for a 1500. Steve
  21. I have loads of those from when TT still had a shop in Richmond(Surrey). I have the TT lowered and de-cambered spring on my Vitesse, and was happy back then with the stance and handling, its like a go cart. Thinking am i too old for a lowered car now?.(54) Steve
  22. I bought a TriumphTune rear anti roll bar for my Vitesse in about 1988,never fitted it. From memory it bolts to the upright and there are 2 U clamps and rubbers that mount through the boot floor. Still in my garage in the box somewhere. Steve
  23. One on E bay at the moment from Triumph Recycler. Steve
  24. On my new engine with Goodparts roller rockers,i was advised that it should have the additional feed,i found even with a 1mm hole in the fitting,it filled the rocker box with oil and subsequently filled the catch tank i had on the breather, not sure if this was because of excessive crankcase pressure or not. Steve
  25. I have an unfitted Courier spring in my lockup if you want me to measure it,i bought it years ago for my Vitesse, after fitting it sat Waaay too high, even with a lowering block and the camber was awful(positive) I re-fitted my old Triumphtune item from the 80`s which is lower and gives negative camber.I run 6 inch Revolutions on mine. Steve
