  1. Could mean it was rebored enough times to make it hard to get pistons for,or maybe they thought the block casting was too thin for another one(not sure how they would know this). S
  2. You can have it for the cost of postage,pm me your address. Steve
  3. Found this in my lockup, not sure which side it is,there will be another one somewhere but i can`t find it at present. Steve
  4. Just looked in my shed where i have another set with adjustable radius arms for my Herald CV conversion, and they are much more angled than the standard swing axle ones,so i must have replaced the ones on the Vitesse,i will look in my lockup when i get a chance. Steve
  5. Hello Colin, I can`t remember if i used my originals when i did a CV conversion,i will have a look in my garage. Have you tried Wins in East Grinstead?all sorts of second hand stuff. https://www.winsintltd.co.uk/ Steve
  6. 2 pin are the inner ones, thanks anyway. Are yours 3 terminal 5.75 inch ones Pete? (smut alert). Steve
  7. Anyone know where i can get a pair for a Vitesse?,it`s the outside pair with the 3 pin connector,60/50 watt. All i can find is halogen conversions which i don`t want to do. Steve

Could be,some modern repro pumps put out too much pressure for the float valves, worth cleaning and checking the valves first, check for debris or slivers of fuel pipe floating around. Steve
  9. I have 123 Tune USB on my tuned Vitesse 2.5 and 1500 Herald, much easier to setup from a laptop or mobile if you have the bluetooth one. I think it made the rolling road setup easier to change curves whenever you need, mine has 2 maps you can switch between if you want for different driving styles. (economy or big right foot). Vitesse has an electronic tacho and matching speedo from Speedy cables. Herald, i just bought a small cheap rev counter off e bay that runs off the coil,it sits in front of the original speaker on the tunnel.
  10. If you wouldn,t mind, who and where is the rolling road chap?. I have been looking for one for a racing Metro with Webers. Steve
  11. I put a Vitesse bottle on my Herald when i fitted the new 1500,i put some coolant in the bottle to gauge what happened,in 500 miles it never saw hot water in the bottle,so it can`t have either drawn or expelled coolant into it. Steve
  12. Which is my expensive Vitesse ally rad leaks.(me) On my new Herald 1500 engine,i used one of the Chinese full width ally rads and left the mechanical fan in,it actually over cools. Steve
  13. Beware rubbish replacement pumps, the one i had on my 1500 Herald,(new engine and pump) put out too much pressure for the carbs and the lever wore quickly. Steve
  14. Just got my Herald 1500 engine back in after a rebuild,(tuned a bit with roller rockers etc.)the builder has put Driven HR1 15/50 racing oil in it for the higher zddp content,my 2.5 Vitesse has Valvoline VR1 in it.The Vitesse engine has 12000 miles on it with excellent oil pressure from startup and when hot. The driven stuff is listed as 1250 ppm,Valvoline is 1300ppm. Steve
  15. Well mine didn't vent through the lock,it was a nos one in its original box,it created the vacuum and stopped the engine before I figured out what was happening. Fine since I modified it. Steve
  16. Don,t forget it needs to vent, that`s probably what that V in the old one is,i have the same on my Vitesse, without the vent it`s breakdown time. S
  17. When i was sixteen i had a fried a couple of years older who was into Mini`s,he built his own engines. He had a 45 gallon drum in the workshop which he sat Mini engines on to wash with thinners, said thinners collected in the drum. One day his dad and him were in the garage welding something, the drum of thinners went up killing both of them, the father was blown in half. Only daft thing i remember growing up was me and my older brother and a couple of mates playing war games with .22 air pistols in mums back garden.I still have both eyes. S
  18. I wanted 2 roto hubs shimmed and built up for a CV conversion for my Herald,Dale thought 4 hours @ £60 per hour would cover it.Had i been earning normally pre lockdown i would have done it. I am a member of CT as well.Did not know about the 10% off. They are still in the shed waiting. Steve
  19. I have the same setup as Richard, pretty much the same angle on the filter, and i use the Fram PH2964,pleased to say i have no knock on start and oil light out when cranking. This is on a 2.5 engine with about 20k miles using Valvoline VR1.I bought 2 short Mann filters to try but after reading the thread on priming after changing filters i decided to stick with what i have. Steve
  20. I used one of those when we moved in our bungalow, caught 20 odd,one of them i took down the bottom of the garden and released it,my other half said it would be back in the house before i was. S
  21. Andrew Turner is your man: http://www.su-carbs.co.uk/
  22. Took the Vitesse out around Windsor and up through the park towards Ascot and Maidenhead today. Bloody overdrive stopped working, and the demisting is rubbish. And i saw a TR6 driving at the end of my road. Steve
  23. I picked up a 2.5PI engine from Devon about 10 years ago,it was on a farm and he loaded it in the boot of my Astra estate with a hay loader thingy, when i got home i lifted it from the boot with just a rope round it on my own,i can confirm it was HEAVY.Couldn`t do it now at 55. Steve
  24. If you want to bid or buy it,get it delivered to me and my daughter could ship to Belgium for you, that is what she does. I am in Surrey in the south of England. Steve
