My other half has a Kia Sportage with all that cobblers on it, it has one button with a capital A symbol that turns all of it off. Has to be done every time I get in it though. Agree the lane assist is dreadful in it. S
  2. 075 in both my cars, Bosch ones. With high torque starters they really wizz over. S
  3. I`ve got one in my Herald if that counts, it`s a Spitfire single rail with O/D won on e bay and collected from Devon unseen about 5 years ago for £115. It is perfect and quiet with a working O/D. I was lucky S
  4. If you make the spring longer then keep fixed spring plates shocks then it would be even higher, or you may have to compress it to get it to fit in the first place. I would go for standard fitment springs if it was mine. Yours are obviously either for another model or meant to be used with adjustable spring plate shocks. Steve.
  5. Saloons may be different, never had one, do they have P seals on the inside of the windscreen pillar?. I have a new set but never got round to fitting them. S
  6. It is a fine art to get the bonnet/tub and doors in the right place, especially after 50 years and god knows how many Po`s messing with it. There is also body flex and tub spread to take into account, if you watch the A frame as you drive you will see the gap changing slightly, on mine anyway. My Vitesse A frame has witness marks even after I paid a supposed expert to do a full body alignment. In the end with careful setting up of the catch and anti burst I got it to an acceptable level and without a massive slam to shut it. There are slight adjustments to be had from the hinges etc. Depends what you want it to be, a concourse with great shut lines or a user. Mine is a user. Steve
  7. And as Pete said earlier, make sure the slider part of the anti burst catch on the body is free to move as the door closes, this affected my Vitesse until I removed it and got it all moving properly. Steve
  8. Hello Dick, We are looking to downsize and have looked around Emsworth last week. Reason being that I have been going to Hayling Island for 50 years + as my Gran had a caravan down there, I love the area. Steve
  9. I have been trying to de-clutter my garage(s) of Triumph parts including engines, triple webers, rocker covers, hard top, roll bar etc. but I stopped using E bay because of the fees. A house move may be on the cards next year so I need to decide what to do. S
  10. My 2.5 Vitesse with saloon box has an annoying chirping noise with the pedal pressed, It goes away after everything warms up. I have one of these fitted. Steve
  11. I thought that, never seen a glass filter with plastic reducers like that. What diameter supply pipe is used Paul? If it`s Herald size then fuel starvation could definitely be an issue. Steve
  12. Having experienced the same symptoms on my Herald, I would go for fuel starvation/flooding or maybe diaphragms. Steve
  13. That depends if you have the optimum needles and springs and then setup properly. Steve
  14. Not an Uncommon thing on HS4 carbs, I had exactly the same issue on my 1500 Herald with one jet not returning when the choke cable was pushed in, just needs a bit of fettling and all OK. This was on new jets from a Burlen rebuild kit. S
  15. No the guide mounting points are, one is on the body, one is on the chassis. I converted my MK 1 Vitesse to Roto and CV shafts. The handbrake works fine but it takes careful setting up as the movement of the suspension effects the tension. S
  16. Both my Vitesse, owned since 1985 and my Herald, which spent most of its life in a garage off the road before I bought it, which is very original does not have a securing bracket at the bottom. Just the screws down each side. Could be missing I suppose. Steve
  17. My daughters Ford Ecosport engine just destroyed itself, they run a Wet cambelt inside the engine which starts to degrade and blocks the oil supply. A well known and common issue with the early ones. 50,000 miles and it`s on it`s 4th Turbo. We are in a legal battle with the dealer to get our money back. S
  18. I checked the Vitesse in the ferry queue on Gov.uk, sadly no record found. I love look at Life programmes on TPTV. Jeez I'm only 57. S
  19. https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/ You have to register and then get adverts but worth it i think. Go to yesterdays "Footage detectives" and it`s a short film about 40 minutes in. Steve
  20. Just watched a bit of it, there is a shot of a 1966 Le Mans program on the seat of one of the cars. S
  21. No it was a convoy of Triumphs going from the UK to watch it!.GT40`s etc actually racing. S
  22. These engines were designed when 100ron fuel was the norm. My 2 cars run terribly on 95 octane E10.I use nothing but Shell V Power if i can get it. Steve
  23. As an old fart, I watch the Footage detectives on TPTV. Tonight they showed a reel showing a line up of Triumphs heading off on the ferry to the Le Mans race in what looks like the 70`s.Including footage from the race and a line up in a town. Worth a look and plenty of Reg. no`s to check to see if they are still around. Watch it on catch up. Steve
  24. I think if it was mine, ,I would stick it on an engine stand and remove the sump to inspect what`s in there, and then possibly check the shells and pistons/rings one at a time, putting a recon head on an old worn unknown bottom end from an engine that had low compression wouldn`t be for me. Of course if you buy another lump you won`t know what you`re getting unless it`s a recon. S
  25. I`m in Surrey but at the time I did the build on my Vitesse engine, a well known Triumph man was working at Maynards so he did my engine, I went back to them for my Herald 1500 engine as I liked the guys there and trusted them. Martin did the tuning. Alex now runs it after he took over from Mark Maynard. On the Jet, anti clock makes it richer, unless it`s a left hand thread. Haynes is correct, down for richer-up for leaner?. I always start at 2.5 full turns down from the bridge and go from there. Steve
