  1. I'll have half if theŕe are some jars going You can always make a hole in the lid to keep the tube in place petwe
  2. Yes I didnt get the down 1" but no resistance more clues please
  3. Who said the bloody jam jar wont start
  4. ive got in the dust a Mityvac pump to vacuum, and a ford derived electric pressure pumped bleeder by the time you get it all together a length of tube and a pedal assistant works so much easier one tip keep the tube and jar high above the nipple in on production we had a evacuate and fill which was utopia take it to zero HG then with no leak detected it self filled to the reservoir level never failed but not so easy to DIY. to make a ezibleed just plug the tube and add a 25mm slit witha sharp blade and you have the simplest one way valve. I have always been a down quick .,, back slow this forces the stuck bubbles out and back slow lets the recuperation take place rather than air sucked back from a nipple ...read what you like into that, whatever your mind is thinking Pete
  5. There seems some oddities have occured from thendark or light side of wherever spoke to Garth today and he has fwd this post to the webmasters to see if there is a gremlin lurking within the e mail system, so dont know if its me colin them or us but dont stop trying pete
  6. there will be std needles available both have limited clearance with the turret and need a thin airbox and tubed filter on the saloons dont know how that stacks up on a GT6 as soon as you use orrible pancakes you need needle or spring options to compensate for the lower intake depression.
  7. on Rimmers is says the following the TR3 rack is based on a Mini no clues about the ratio, there also quick racks for TR4 > with only 2.5 turns lock to lock not shown for TR3 but a supposed quick rack wont be a easy beast as the steering input has to rise by a 3rd Product Description The biggest and most significant improvement to the steering of the TR2, TR3, TR3A models is the fitment of a steering rack. This bolt-on kit gives instant improvement with lighter steering for easier parking and driving control. Due to clearance, the kits should only be used with the 4 blade fan or Kenlowe Cooling Fan Kit. Product Description A quick rack for TR4 models has a high ratio pinion giving you lock-to-lock in only 2.5 turns, compared to the standard of 3.5 turns. Made for competition use, it features a stronger outer casing and a higher grade of steel rack for increased durability. The rack is designed to be used with standard or solid rack mounts. Track rod ends and rack mounts are not included.
  8. Colin has confirmed he received my test mail (the one without the ")
  9. Those hydraulic rams are superb bits of kit , had one for years not with a hub puller but many other beams etc . Some areas have a stash of special tooling herts and beds have , its little used these days Visits for daft clues and sensible waffle always with kettle on always welcome Pete
  10. just spoken to HQ and i have sent a test mail to colin , one thing i noticed was the first attempt bounced but the address had taken on some """""@ in the heading so for herald@tssc.org.uk it actually loaded "herald@"@tssc.org.uk now where does that come from please check the address and whilst its nowt to do with me let me know please the other restriction is file size too big and it wont go. so mail sent to herald and spitfireIV-1500 and both have delivered as far as i know.... but where the "" came from ..not me ...dont know ...is this the quirk at work you cant mistype a " its a two finger operation !!! Pete Pete
  11. the end of the pin generally has a taper/chamfered one end, the hole is not tapered, both hole in shaft and handle should be a clearance its the spring behind the escutcheon holding it to cover the pin that keeps it all together, if its had something hammered in or threaded then youre in for a fight to get the sod out . the pins on the floor syndrome is quite normal , never finding it again is also of tee shirt etiquete Pete
  12. old trick was put wheel on with loose nuts and sit on floor wham the wheel up the studs , it all comes off in your lap write AE phone number on back of hand !!!
  13. not looked but i would think finding compatible needles for 150 stroms on a 2500cc would be a bit hard to please there was an australian spec 2500 with CD3 150 used needle B5DG but UK was HS6 needle BDU spring specs are not in the Triumph WSM Pete
  14. Rich mixture problems with hot conditions is seriously aggrevated by hot static air under the bonnet In traffic a engjne fan is shifting the air all the time , this really helps , if the electric comes on when its realy too late , expect it to run rich and resist starts when its coughed into a stalled I guess whats needed is a speed signal switch to start the electric fan at 10mph
  15. And you lumps are to stop the bolt head rotating so on the assy line you only need one spanner . whats the state of the thread on the upright , never mind the shiny trunion the outside doesnt matter its the state of the threads that counts . pete
  16. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/technical.htm Cant edit on a tablet sorry about some typo pete
  17. Held on with 2 screws on the side , they have a plastic cover again held on with two small screws have a look at buckeye triumps techy pages excellant how to on carbs , ignor the models the basics are common you can set these things scientifically if you so desire the main problems is they are reliable but go out of Of controll with age the temp sender has two o rings one on the outer face one down its bore these get crappy they are in the fitz all repair kits the bimetal strip responds to temperature and opens a short platic plunger which allows air to by pass the closed throttle plate, there are holes and ducts inside the carb body which pass to the manifold , the manifold to carb gasket has holes in to match ,fit them upside down and you block cancell any bypass simplze. But once you have the blighters in your hand you will see the qplunger and the small nut which tensions the plunger onto a simple seating most will find the plunger is a rattling good fit and sits away from the seat, so you need to tighten the small nut this loads the plunger get it nicely shut , light finger prodding will show its sitting shut. the idea is when engine temp is very high it opens and allows a bypass of the idle setting and speeds up and leans the mixture. if its open when setting idle mixture you never get it correct , its far more important its shut than it being set 'correctly'
  18. Having found a number of cars with problems using any grade suppresive plug with an R resisrive electrode they can develope misfires as the HT on our cars is much less than more modern and the R puts a cork in the supply HT. stick to bp6es or 5es depending on what your car should have, if and when you need replacements the EY is the electrode amd material code , you dont really need fancy expensive plugs
  19. The dashpot is a damper to richen mixture on acceleration , like a pump on a downdraft 3 in 1 is cats pee and the damper wont work, if some clown says its better then other things are wrong innthe first place you will have temperature compensators fitted bet the things are partly open when they should be fully closed, if open at idle at normall temp you set the idle mixture too weak and its then weak across the full range take them off , fit two new o rings and screw the nut on the bimetal strip to close the plunger if it never opens ,,, good. Or block the bypass competely its designed to weaken the mix when hot , as a emission device and bleeds air around the throttle plates
  20. Its the wiping effect of the seal lip there has to be some film left to lubricate or the seal wont last long On warranty examination any wet was normal and expected, if removed from the truck for this damp easilly seen residue under the boot the claim was thrown out by the manufactures So you can blame the experts Ha! If it spills out you have a problem
  21. Under the ns rubber there is a hole in the tube, this little anti rattle plug pops into most ally mounts leave this uncovered and it falls out hence the mod with hose clip to keep it in place Its there to stops rack chatter on rough surfaces pete
  22. Thats good , I dont have any ties with andy other than he sells tidied up cars and when members ask for advice Im in the area and Hq point them my , I try to be objective , not easy when its some elses money youre playing with when dealing with a 45yr old nightmare and values are climbing at a rapid rate pete
  23. Its sounds like it has a bogus pin fitted which is jammed or even been threaded into the shaft the handle are a nasty cast mazak type material they can get fractured by enthusiasm pete
