  1. If its unwanted gases im told you can take tablets for it !!!
  2. There are places that re anodise have no idea how that looks and dont know who does it. Out of interest a few years ago club had the section extruded but it proved impossible to form the corners bends without destroying the section.. so the project stalled. Pete
  3. its part number PS1103 front of oil gallery,, hardware catalogue confirms its 1/2"unf plug... Pete
  4. if you remove the top cover and pull out the piston and spring you will see down the dashpot oily bore at the bottom is a hex key nut arrangement which is held in place with a sprag washer best way to visualise this is on the buckeye site but you have to remove all the adjuster assy and needle to get at the markings on the head of the needle as these are CDSE i doubt anyone has ever attempted this without some moral support !!! and i would hazard a guess that you have std needles , there are very limited alternatives available so.... unless you realy have tot dont go there !!!!! even searching around getting the real whats supposed to be fitted is a chore here a good read http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/Carbs/AdjNeedle/AdjNeedle.htm
  5. on mine there is a redundant flasher unit mount pop riveted to the back face of the glove bocx, stick hnd up back should find it, no idea why its there. if hazard and direction indicator are giving the same problem its likely to be in the foundation rather than a 'unit' fail have you checked the base battery voltage??? the flasher and hazard have the hazard switch as a common link , but a daft thought has some previous picked a ignition feed from a blasted 6v coil feed ???? off the ign switch ???
  6. Found a clip on the back of the glove box on my mk2 not used but its flasher can sized If you have two,,,,,,, one is for hazards....... do they work ???
  7. Is it a rythmical misfire or a random all over the place pete
  8. There could problems with using Hq the small workshop is only got planning permision to repair museum cars i will check with Bern I prefer to do twiddling at home as I know what and where tools and clues are . this is taking off well. I will make up, a list of a few requests and pick a date pete
  9. Might be worth check the float needle is opening and check the pump is not full of debris, use a bike pump to blow the pipe out , back to the tank old fuel goes stale, what was in the tank , it may be past its best. remove air filter , make sure the gaskets and filters are not obstucting the ports in the carb front face these often get fitted upside down, check firing order 1342 anticlockwise on the dizzy cap
  10. In general there are 2 possibles 3/8" x24 unf 7/16" x 20 unf pete
  11. Its important .......we need to know what flavour talc you used !!!!!!
  12. Did it run lumpy before you changed parts or afterwards pete
  13. would you believe Euans even dreaming about a trip down from Edingburgh this is manic Pete
  14. the original feed is an interrupted supply controlled by a flat on the rear cam journal so you give one squirt for one rotation of the cam the rockers dont need loads of oil, and the external feed is generally condemned John calls it the spawn of satan, !!! if ever its fitted it must be seriously restricted or you flood the un sealed valve stems and get clouds of blue on deceleration and your diverting pressure from the oil gallery from the much needed mains and ends . to the answer is dont ever fit one... its an aftermarket myth for normal road going cars Pete
  15. I did a day with Aidan and Paul with tappet and twiddling advice its been suggested the club could do these , there is the problem of who and how I have many years experience in sorting the basics and quite willing to devise a day or two in the spring to advise about the technical and practical aspects of classic related service techniques, the subject is down to suggestions but anything we can twiddle is a start be it carb setting , bearing adjustments , or a gearbox strip, tracking etc. let me know drop a e mail from the my profile page and see what we can achieve you will need to travel to Luton LU3 3AX no charge and free Tea
  16. Oh Bu**er now I have to dream up a plan Ha ! Paul youre top of the list pete
  17. I did a tappet and twiddle tutorial day last year with Aidan and Paul I dont do rotaflex , , but in the spring we could do something else of interest if theres support , means you have trip to sunny Luton but carb balance , front hub end float , geomerty, gearbox examinations etc. Pete
  18. http://www.odspares.com/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/odspares?opendocument&part=5 http://www.overdrive-repairs.co.uk/contact.php quick call to od spares or overdrive repairs will solve this but keep to d types from similar engine sizes as the hydraulics change on higer outputs mg used the D type on a 3 synchro box later used LH Dtype and J type also common on Rootes and Bmc etc. pete
  19. If the rear cam bearing wears there is loss of the interupted supply and you can get too much or if realy bad not enough.... oil in the rocker box its only gravity feed back to the sump via the cam follower chest so sealing the gallery side of the HG the should contain this easily lets hope the wifes talc shows the rear corner to be the snag pete
  20. if you got the gist of that waffle youre doing well ha !! the best float is some cream on top of some Irish coffee Pete
  21. a good dry off with brake cleaner and a dusting of talc or french chalk along the joint will soon show just where its coming from if you use talc makes it smell nice too if its leaks centrally it impossible to track through the gasket from the left rear corner were the feed enters the head but , it can track along the joint and run out anywhere. the talc idea should show it up if thats a way out of the frustration
  22. you dont happen to have the external oil feed kit fitted to add more oil to the rear of head rocker feed ???? if you do remove the head maybe some careful checks on head and block flatness is a check worth doing , you seem to be having a lot of trouble and are aware of the main culprits . Pete
