  1. no idea what these are like but seems good for a only a £49.99p http://stores.ebay.co.uk/faslanestyling-europe/Back-Boxes-/_i.html?_fsub=5101463016&_sid=1088124356&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 just need the inlet size ,there was a triumph listing but cant find it now Pete
  2. most camber testing equipment will tell you if you cant get the floor quite level measure the sum total of both sides and halve it. if that helps Pete
  3. mine 1600 had a 631 , 2" pipes and a club semi sports single and it really amazing on song , the wheel barrow twin was more like a hair drier and nothing like as crisp didnt stay on for long this was the smaller semi , the inlet just a neat fit 'inside' the tail tube a real yippee to drive ....yes i miss it Pete
  4. stay safe ...........keep your dongle in your pants Pete
  5. just talking about this a few minutes ago only goes back to 97 what happens to pre 97 seems a bit unclear ?? says pre 97?diesels are exempt dont must read it backwards dont see ant ref to older petrols must be missing something ....i wont be going anyway but its good to know all exclusions and even uk road bridge and tunnel tolls that are becoming automatic got you's if you ignore the signs Pete
  6. Doug, Mind you dont get any splinters pete
  7. Go to garden centre or pond aquatic centre , you can buy metres of it for the price of the car spare emporious 1.5" is the size plus a couple of hose clips. Even the best triumph achieved was a rather cheap W style support on the sode of the rad frame and every 6 pot had the hoses as std. From day one .
  8. Cheap hoses with smooth inside get from aquatics pond pump, hose or 1.5" plastic waste pipe but this needs a cut and glue to get the alignment pete
  9. nice to hear of a good result happy driving Pete
  10. if you do clean the tops its useful to use some gear oil around the bore it will collect debris and leave it goo'd to the bore when you wind the piston down, and you can wipe it out. not the best idea but helps . Pete
  11. we tipped the tub up on rubber anti slip mats under the overriders and supported the lifted tub with timber stays to prop it up takes up less room and easy to work on pete
  12. If the new post is the same length as the old one it wont correct the missing mm do check ive seen new ones with awfull finish to the ball end making a longer push rod wont help either its the thin bearing makes the withdrawl lever like a see saw down at one end , it needs to be more balanced moving the pivot outwards a little helps to correct the angle of dangle !
  13. Yes sounds more like slack belt slipping or low oil in the pas pump reservior Strut bushes may sieze or inserts can knock but there is nothing on the suspension that could make a whine that I can understand you may get a creaky noise off a rubber bush like the drag strut but unlikley cant get at the manuals just now but the pump kit doesnt show a overload valve but some whooshing from the pump under load is quite normal
  14. Vacuum gauge can be an aid to engine setting but if you have all the basic adjustments about right its not going to show you much, if you fit a gauge to measure whats at idle if its tells a poor condition its back to re visit all the basics to make it right used as a economy device can aid keeping the foot off the gas an spoils any fun pressure gauge for fuel pump if you get a well defined spurt from the supply pipe when idling consider it Workable so yes they can be a asset gadget or use the fund to fill the tank and smile
  15. If the hsg is off the gearbox the post hole goes right thro, so you can tap it out from the back face 4mm is too much you can loose support of the post two washers is about max. it puts the see saw of the lever more central a thin brg makes the lever attitude late and extends the slave a extra bit bit of packing brings things near to central if the lever is late then the pegs in the throw out sit below the cover/shaft centre line and this pitches the carrier spent years working on warranty due to clutch geometry and recon covers .
  16. having rebuilt a good few untouched gearboxes I have only found paper gaskets , possibly a lick of shellac, love the smell of that stuff takes you back a bit to yesteryear Pete
  17. Thats not unusual theres a gremilin that always reverses the obvious Ha yes there a good few wrong way round its not the diameter its the depth , thickness of the new bearing thats been on a diet. the front cover and sperical post are a easy tap fit in the ally hsg, the pin in the carrier stops the rotation making wear grooves in the front cover some have a dimple in the peg slot saves the cover but the pegs wear the carrier groove, slot
  18. To stop the two tubs closing up I hid two countersunk screws under the tread plates but guess if fitted you have removed these and and the sills pete
  19. Interesting so it is pad pull back but not end float are you realy sure the disc had not pushed the pads back so when jacked the gap appears the piston seals should give some retraction but not enough to give a gap all very useful next time this problem pops up nice to have a solution pete
  20. And look at the grooves in the cam front bearing to identify whats fitted the later 2ltr vitesse vintage was reckoned to be the best before emmisions started to de tune things No point in skimming if the cams a 1974 yr and as flat as a pancake pete
  21. Back in the 80s we did many trials of gasket hard joint face oil leaks we dumped all paper gaskets and used loctite 574 a hard setting when air is excluded instant gasket which worked far and above any other product in its day, I still use it today at home it solved many oil seapage or problem leaks on trucks still available and much more choice with more types now if the gearbox is off check the thichness of the withdrawl bearing if its only 15mm thick you need to add a washer or two under the sperical post, or the angle of the arm is ,'late' and you loose travel and the pins are then set below the centre line the orig bearings were 19mm thick if there are wear grooves in the throwout carrier remove the anti rotation pin set it somewhere else pete
  22. Not looked up on the data but late mk 2 2000 had a very flat cam pair of grott SU HS4 and lower bhp (88) than any other 2ltr spec Ive got one, doubt I will mess around these days but it will never set the world on fire pete
  23. sure ive seen later ones with a clip and capless bulb located to shine in the edge of the plastic backing all a bit cheap and crude design (or lack of it just makes the colours and motifs sort of glow a bit
  24. 8.75" that probably gives you a ride height gain of around +1.5" at the wheels Wow !!! well you'll never graze the down pipes Pete
