    Colourtune?

Same for me . Never even used it on my Vitesse . Still in the box , will be going on EBay when I get round to it . I use plug colour to tune Paul
  4. Here’s some pics of my carb setup Mk2 Vitesse Any more detail let me know Paul
  5. These are the Crystal lamps I’ve fitted to my Vitesse , though just seen one has a crack 😤 These are flat lens as opposed to the original curved ones . The purist might object to these flat lenses but they are fine with me and functional . Cost in 2017 approx £50 for 4 including bulbs from EBay , the included H4’s are ok but can be significantly improved on . When I ordered them I had the option to have the side light blanked which is a rubber bung. I also added relays as per photo plus linked the dip to include all 4 lamps which is technically not allowed . I have an in-line blade fuse which can be removed for MOT purposes so only the outers will work on dipped beam. These lamps are a significant improvement on the sealed beam units . Paul

  7. Hi Colin , I think you are correct with your theory . The door strap bracket is newish and the strap bracket is the closest item to the cut envelope What will I find when I refurb the drivers door ? Paul
  8. Must be worth sniping this one . Best not to draw attention as the price could run away . The postage price suggests there should be a couple of kilos . Worth breaking up into smaller parcels and reselling Paul
  9. Ebay has a Glass topped fuel pump https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184016365139?ul_noapp=true and looks to be worth refurbing Paul
  10. I use Bilthamber Products with confidence also Por 15 products - Main seller is Frosts though other sellers are about and could be cheaper . You will find other recommendations coming along !!! Paul
  11. Hi Steve , thanks the rock wool was loose , no mouse poo ! Was the rock wool standard . Already recovered the weather seal clips with a magnet !!! Paul
  12. Started stripping down the passenger door on my Vitesse saloon . So far I’ve removed a lot of wadding see pic, is this normal . The wadding was in the bottom of the door Also found a section cut out . What purpose was this done for So far I’ve ascertained the original colour was white and the internal condition is good with no visible rust . I know there will be issues when removing the paint on the door skin as the door has ripples at the base . Also need a new internal door handle as it has broken Paul

    Herald 1360

Seen today at Pakenham Post Office which is close to Bury St Edmunds . Spoke to the driver , he has owned her from new 150,000 miles , gearbox , engine replaced . It’s a daily driver for local journeys Paul
  15. I use Esnipe.com which submits bids 5 seconds before the auction end . A human doesn’t stand a chance against this auto system unless they have already entered a max bid Paul

  18. I had a similar issue with my vitesse mk2 , my issue was that when in overdrive 4 it slipped out of OD . Pete suggested when it slipped out of OD hold the gear leaver on 4th and see if OD worked . It did and identified the inhibitor switch issue . In my case it needed a packing plate made out of scrap alloy . Sorted Paul
  19. Hi the doors on my Vitesse Saloon are A2 grade and dont stand up to close examination, minor surface rust with lots of evidence of filler and pretty sure they were reskinned many years ago so as a winter project looking to restore or replace . Ive measured the depth of both doors and passenger side is close to 5mm thicker . Pretty sure this is contributing to the passenger door sitting proud at the base . So far I have a new passenger door skin & a pair of base panels for the resto . Before i start this project which ive never done before do A1 quality doors ever come up for sale - Ive been to Stoneleigh MG & Triumph show once , they did have some doors but I didnt check the quality or price What would you expect to pay for A1 doors and where should i be looking ? Im following Ebay and not impressed at all by the quality or silly prices . Meanwhile the doors are coming off and they will either be replaced or restored . Any tips advice would be welcome in return ill post the pics and progress good or bad Paul
  20. I think the high labour costs due to overheads and operating costs contribute to the continuing disappearance of these specialists. I know when I first purchased my Vitesse and completely new to the Classic game I was paying £80 per hr ( including VAT ) to Manvers Triumph ( now longer trading since Clive passed away ) and if I had continued down this route my Vitesse would have been a money pit . My opinion is that this is not a business model that can thrive and prosper over the longer term . However specialist training courses would have a place and the TSSC is best placed to organise and run these courses . The courses could begin with a basic mechanics over 3 to 4 days through to courses on bodywork , spraying etc . I for 1 would pay the going rate to be taught rather than paying £80 per hr for somebody else to do the job . My pennies worth Paul

  22. When I upgraded from Bendix to Hi Torque I had a spacer plus 2 thin shims . I refitted with the spacer and no shims . This setup worked well for my Vitesse mk2 Paul
  23. More info on this Sample arrived very happy with the finished article. Vitesse and, I believe, Herald estate rear number plate light cowl gasket as an alternative to the original gasket, part number 705211, These are made from 2mm epdm and are self adhesive on one side to enable seating on to the cowl before fitting to the vehicle. I am also hoping to offer a replacement set of nuts, bolts and washers in stainless steel to complete the kit, all for a price under £15.00 including UK postage. ... See more 9You and 8 others 1 comment Like Comment Share Comments David Wythe In the light of all the positive comments and feedback I’ve received regarding the Vitesse rear light cowl gasket above, I have today given the manufacturers the go ahead for new tooling and sample production of a similar self adhesive gasket to suit the rear light cowl on the 13/60 Herald, with initial delivery due in around 4 weeks Here’s hoping this will also prove popular and would welcome any feedback. Paul
  24. If you choose the MGTF seat route I can send you the conversion details . It’s an easy upgrade using the existing seat holes so a retrograde fit is possible Paul
