  1. Hi Pete , support brackets switched - Will I get a better braking performance NB can you spot the extended bleed nipple for the Clutch ? Paul
  2. I was going to say "spot the deliberate mistake" Paul
  3. Thanks Pete - well spotted and Ive learnt something Paul
  4. Hi Bordfunker - I had the same situation as yourself and after upgrading all cylinders decided on DOT4 . My logic was that in a significant brake issue DOT 4 would be easier to get hold of . I did purchase a Master Cylinder alloy tray which helps with Dot 4 overspill . Comes from Australia, available on Ebay - approx £30 deld - Very easy to fit Paul
  5. Hi Nick - Ive sorted the float bowl issue - Its a bit Heath Robinson though 2 gaskets + Wellseal and currently no leaks - Hopefully sorted - As to mixture Im going to measure the range for the needle - Divide this measurement by 2 and drop the fixed jets by this amount Thanks Paul
  6. Welcome Terry - you will find the forum very interesting and informative some people call it a madhouse !! - I was in a similar position a couple of years ago and the best advice I can offer based on personal experience is to drive the car of your choice - I hired a 1360 convertible for a day - it was the best £140 I ever spent as my wife and I were both smiling at the end of the day though we decided we needed a saloon + more power so settled on a Vitesse - Where do you live ? Im sure you will find a member willing to assist Best regards Paul
  7. Here is a pic of the plugs after 10 mile run - I had a 1/4 turn left to richen + added a penny washer to fit over damper tube - Will the penny washer be helping to richen ? The plug colour is going in the right direction plus needed to adjust tick over as it had climbed from 1000 revs to 1200 revs Would retarding timing help ? Finally is the colour ok as if not I will have to drop the fixed jets as I cant adjust further Thanks in advance Paul
  8. Hi Karl yes thats the one. Puts a nice finish to the job. Looks like you had instructions how to fit which is more than i did Paul
  9. Re your fuel tank. You can still buy the transfer which gives instructions on how to use the reserve tank - purchased mine from Canleys Paul
  10. If you fit a filter after the tank this will give you the teltale info if the surface lining is breaking away. My guess is that it wont Paul
  11. Old stock looks like a possible answer - I do know there has been a shortage of supply of POR15 and could be the reason why Frost has launched their own brand of ME2 products . My guess is that as your tank is new you will be ok though not the protective covering you were expecting and paid for Paul
  12. Just found the Frost PDF Instructions which should help - Its does say re applying is not recommended Paul por15 tank sealer.pdf
  13. Richard - can you upload a PDF version of TSSC - POR15 , currently its a .ODT which requires Word to read Paul
  14. Hi - Ive used POR15 tank sealer on my Vitesse tank and no issues at all and would recommend the product - What condition is the excess which you poured out - does that have bubbles ? - Im also a big fan of the POR15 Paint ( apart from the price !!! ) I have had bubbles in the paint - The website says this Whether the same applies to the tank sealer I dont know . From what I remember its not possible to apply a further coat - I bought my "kit" from Frosts and that would be my next port of call Hope this helps Paul .
  15. It used to be the last post I had read , now it is the last entry . This is down to cookies Paul
  16. I purchased trunnions from a reputable source last year and they started to leak within 6 months - Before fitting new trunnions its best to seal the base with solder or JB Weld - lesson learnt Paul
  17. Ive fitted nylon trunnion kits on front and rear - so far so good and a few £ saved Paul
  18. 20/50 used in dampers . Can I try a washer on top of spring to add weight ? Lastly got a 50 mile trip planned this Friday . Should this be put off till the mixture is sorted ? Paul
  19. I have rubber tubing to fit the standard airbox - which are not fitted yet - Would adding these affect the mixture ? Paul
  20. Hi Pete running a standard airbox with paper filters. Temp compensators are locked off - The only unorthodox thing ive done is to add double gaskets and wellseal to the float chambers - no leaks so far . Without Wellseal the float chambers leaked and float height is 17mm - Best to try damper spring - how are these rated ?? Paul
  21. Pete's suggestion on masking tape is well advised - I found an old spoon useful - I used silicon spray , this helped Paul
  22. Hi all back again with tuning my CDSE carbs for my Vitesse MK2 - Just got back from a 40 mile run and checked the plugs and all 6 are too white for my liking so tried to richen the mixture using the allen key , and only got a 1/4 turn clockwise on both carbs before hitting the limit stop so cant richen any further - Does the ignition timing affect mixture ??? If not the only logical thing I can think of lowering the fixed jets - If this practice is acceptable ( they are currently set at 100 thou below the base line ) I was going to reset them them at 110 thou. Any other solutions or where to go next Regards Paul
  23. It was sold within a couple of hours for £175 Regards Paul
