  4. I was driving along at a steady 50 to 60 mph when after about 20 miles the car gave a sudden jolt and lost all power for a fraction of a second, then carried on as normal. Then did it again about 3 miles later. I stopped, checked plug leads ect found nothing amiss. Then drove anther 25 miles without any trouble. Anyone got any ideas what has caused this?
  5. Hi all I had a 1500 engine which I stored in garage for 20+ years, regularly squirted engine oil down the bores. Fitted in my spitfire 4 years ago, it has run like a dream ever since!

  7. I remember a car on a chimney between Clapham Junction and Waterloo, was on the right hand side approaching Waterloo. Can't remember what car it was
  8. Folded, then welded under quarterlights and spots near door locks and upper hinge. They were brazed by the factory, you will find the spots of braze if you remove the skin. Don't weld until refitted to car and you are sure the door fits correctly and not distorted.
  9. Hello Paul They look original to me. If replacing just the bottoms be careful with heat distortion, may be easier to fit new skins! Good luck Paul
  10. Hi all I have just dismantled my front suspension, a strut insert was leaking. Comparing the size of the new and old strut inserts, the new ones are about an inch shorter and a smaller diameter. Will this cause a problem? (see picture lower insert is the new one)Any advice gratefully received.

  13. Hi all Has anyone used waterless/forlife coolant , is it worth the money? Does it eliminate corrosion, blockages and make the engine run cooler? recommended!? thank you

  15. Hi I have probably got a spare will check in garage tomorrow Cheers
  16. Up date The problem is now solved, due to weak mixture, due to MOT man 'adjusting' carbs. (I checked plugs and they were spotlessly clean.) Car now running like a dream
  17. Hi John Yes all done , they spot on thanks
  18. Hi Pete jets are fully returning, I have just topped up dash pots. Could it need stronger carb piston springs? Thanks Paul
  19. Hi all My 2500 TC saloon is running very lumpy/jerky on overrun and low revs. At 25-30 mph in 4th gear the car shudders/hunts, if I drop down to 3rd it's ok At higher revs or at motorway speeds it runs very well indeed. The car has a pertronix electronic ignition, rebuilt distributor, recon cylinder head, rebuilt carbs , a chris witor camshaft, new timing chain and sprockets. I think it's a carb issue, anyone got any ideas? Thank you
  20. Hello Could be the voltage stabiliser on the back of the speedo. Does the temp gauge go up with engine revs, does the fuel gauge go up as well? If so it's the stabiliser Hope this helps
