  4. Hi all Now fitted Facet electric pump all good, simple installation. Fitted under tank in boot diagonally as recommended Don't know why it should make any difference, but tick over seems much smoother
  5. Hi Pete/all Just inspected brushes two look ok center one looks like there is a bit missing, not sure if it is right? What do you think? Many thanks
  6. Hi Pete Thanks for the reply. The two speeds of the motor are similar so could well be the brushes, will check. I have done the 180 degree thing with the wheel boxes
  7. Hi all The wipers on my 2500 are a bit slow and also seem to be jerky, it is not the blades as they wipe well. Watching the gear wheel and the pinion go round they speed up then slow down. See video I have greased the rack and it pulls in and out smoothly. I was going to replace the motor, but not sure if that would cure the problem. Are the replacement motors any good? There are Lucas motors on ebay but I am a bit dubious about the quality. Any advice gratefully received. wiper motor.mp4
  8. I think I may go for the electric option, as reliability is important. No an option to rebuild original pump as now has stripped threads in body
  9. Don't adjust the idle screw, you will upset the balance of the carbs!
  10. Hi all Think I have discovered the problem. Fuel pump failed tonight, had to be trailered home!! Nearly stopped on one of the busiest roundabouts in Exeter😱!! Any recommends for new pump, or are they all the same? Or should I go electric? many thanks
  11. Hi Doug thanks for the advice. I will try that. may be I've been barking up the wrong tree!! best wishes
  12. Hi all Just back from 800 mile trip to North wales. No problems except, had fuel vaporization twice. first time was after stopping, a mile or so later car stalled. I removed engine side valances, poured cold water onto the fuel pump. All was well and engine ran perfectly. Second time car had been parked in sunshine all day, started up as normal. I left it running for a few minutes and it stopped. Checked float chambers, no fuel. I removed fuel pipe to pump no fuel, removed petrol cap, still no fuel. So sucked pipe got a mouthful of petrol, yuk! fuel ran out of pipe as normal. Reconnected and car ran as normal. Temp was really hot around 30 degrees, but we have been to France with same or hotter temps and no trouble. Is it the unleaded petrol that is the problem? Has anyone put heat insulation on fuel pipes? If so where and what manufacturer? Should there be a heat insulator between fuel pump and block as it felt really hot? I really want to heat proof the car for future trips!! Thank you in advance
  13. Try Mick Dolphin all NOS. Great service!
  14. Dave Mac Propshafts in Coventry do mail order, just give them specs. Excellent service and quality. davemacprops.co.uk
  15. James Paddock or Canley classic's prices are usually competitive
  16. I would buy recon calipers from Club and fit stainless steel braided brake hoses. Can't put a price on safety!!
  17. Hi all Got all the carpets out in my 2500. I was wondering if is worth putting sound deadening material on the floor, nothing too thick as the carpets won't fit very well. Any recommendations? thanks in advance
  18. Hi all Got a pair of rilsan coated driveshafts fitted to my 2500. They have grease nipples fitted, so I assume they should be greased, but with what type of gease ? Thanks in advance!
  19. Hi Ben I would check all door seals and A post seals are intact. Check for corrosion on A post gutter, water can enter here and run inside A post.. Check plastic curtain inside door is in place , should be attached to bottom of window inside door. Check all grommets in bulkhead are sealed. Good luck!
  20. I fitted a accuspark to my spitfire (Delco dizzy) with no problems, fitted two to my 2.5 saloon and it mis-fired. I think the quality is a bit dodgy. that why they are a third of the price of Lumenition
  21. This has happened to me.... twice. 😱 Yes, loctite definitely. Need to lock the crankshaft pulley with a bar against the chassis, then tighten
  22. Hi all My steering wheel on my 2500 is getting a bit tatty . Can anyone recommend a repairer? I would like it reconditioned to original spec if poss. thanks in advance
  23. Hello I have had this problem with my saloon, all parts need to be in perfect condition any play / wear and it won't work! I had wear in the release mechanism which allowed slight play. Hope this helps
  24. Hi Frank Re hood before lowering make sure you undo all the poppers, unzip the window (if it has a zipped) one, then pull back the hood towards the boot. Then drop the header rail (front) down and fold the hood down over the frame. will fit quite neatly. I always use Canley Classics good prices and excellent customer service, no connections just a satisfied customer for many years! Nice looking car!
