  1. I’ll get my wheels off john brown as he does the right size nuts as a package.
  2. I bought mine from eBay. Actually a seller I know through owning my Land Rover. But does mean I have 4 spare as I bought them as a set of 4 wheels worth but disco wheels have 5
  3. It was incredibly steep. Shame you couldn't come up it as that could have been interesting.
  4. Trouble is my BMW takes 19" 285 or something - they are huge in the boot - which is not that big to start with (Well not compared to the boot in my old Disco!) To be fair, when off roading, I used to carry 2 spares - one underneath and one on the roof. In 7 years only had 2 punctures - both when off road. About 170k miles and a few thousand off road
  5. I think the tyre age thing is probably a manufacturer lead date - based on some science I’m sure - but if tyres are stored in the dark they will last longer. Which reminds me, I must sort Swmbo’s tyres on her car - 8 years old and some cracks have appeared. Discovered showing my youngest vehicle checks as part of her learning to drive ? My daily had a puncture last year - well more like the pressure was slightly low and being run flats wasn’t obvious. Eventually the tpms threw a warning so I stopped at the nearest garage. Put some tyre weld in - air still peeing out and then found the reinforcing wires poking through the inside of the tyre. But still drove it to the tyre place and got it replaced. But there is no space for a spare - what would be the spare tyre hole, has the battery in it.
  6. It does sound electrical - I would think a dodgy switch or perhaps poor connection. But I say with with no real basis!
  7. Should be CDO ............... Just saying.
  8. I've been having a mess with a graph. Just for kicks. The 20/50 and 20/60 are both Millers Pistoneeze. I am surprised at the viscosity of the 20/60 at 40'C - virtually the same as SAE50! Oil Viscosity.xlsx
  9. I think I recognise that river you are sat next to Roger - lovely part of the Pyrenees.
  10. I will order up a new 82’c stat I think. Nowt to loose. What’s the betting a 82 is fitted. ? also going to get some new dizzy pedestal gaskets - I’ve read up how to check the clearance - I did measure it when I put it in. But not 100% sure I did it right. I’ve watched a video now and it’s become ruddy obvious ?
  11. Folded mine up this afternoon - wasn't too bad actually.
  12. I must admit I’m sure the stat is 88. I did order a new stat and the “wrong” one came. But can’t remember if I ordered the 88 and an 82 came or the other way around. Not sure if 6’c will affect the pressure of the oil much. Assuming that a lower water temperature directly equates to a lower oil temperature. The dizzy came from the dizzy doctor so the seal should be new.
  13. Oh and I now have a spare with a tyre on it.
  14. I took my spitfire for its MOT last year and the spare was just a rim - no tyre. Left the rim out. Got an mot without that as an advisory. Other things were advisory’s though. Suspension and oil leak. Oil leak is a standard feature from new. ? suspension is on order. ?
  15. Actually the PH1 powerband is 1500-6000. More than enough for the 1500 spit in my view. http://www.newman-cams.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/newman-cams_triumph.pdf Mine is timed slightly out - which lowers the band a touch. And it does pull well from 1000rpm.
  16. It was always a case of removing the spare wheel if it’s dodgy. Have the new rules changed that?
  17. I did drive my P6 home after it was resprayed with no lights fitted, or indicators. Etc. Did ask the police if I could and they basically said go for it. Not fitted can’t be done for not working. Was fine - just used hand signals. Mind you that was 30years ago. Times change ?
  18. Oh and I’ve spotted an oil leak around the dizzy. Bit annoying. Got to work out how to seal it. Any ideas?
  19. Filled up with fuel today, and it’s now reading about 3/4 full when full. But did get an indicated 32mpg ? but given my speedo is 10% out, nearer 35 ?
  20. Just been out to town this morning and when I came back thought I’d check the temperatures. Stat housing was showing over 100 as were a couple of other bits, sump 88 or so. So I thought I’d restart the engine and the top of the engine and stat housing dropped to 90-95 radiator high 80’s. So about normal I would say, given the stat is 88’c I think. Do you think I should run a summer stat?
  21. That's what I use mine for in the main. When the sun is low enough to need them, the glass is so scratched that you can't see anyway - in my Modern the glass is so dirty - well film of something - that can't see when driving that in the sun either ?
  22. I would say it’s not a failure. Advisory possibly. It could be a failure if it doesn’t stow properly and blocks the view. Not all cars had them back in the day. Sometimes only one.
  23. Actually, when I replaced the engine in my disco, it was basically driven without being laboured or over revved- easy in an auto. I would say just drive it without going mad . Keep the revs in a sensible range.
  24. Revenge is best served cold ? no idea is the real answer
  25. Also means I’ve got to buy a spring compressor ? and an oil gun. Call to the club shop me thinks.
