Goverment is all about control, they want you to do as your told, think as your told and travel under their control. All because they say it is safer. Didn't the soviets say the difference with the west was we thought we were free they knew they were not. Regards Paul

At least you know where to look, been using a two inch air sander with felt pads for polishing if you accidentally turn on with pad not on work piece pad converts to frisbee. If you do manage to find it now coated in grit, swarf etc. just the thing for polishing. Regards Paul

Epb in an auto fine only two pedals uphill start in a manual with epb you run out of feet. But then I live in Norfolk so not many steep hills as Noel Coward said "very flat Norfolk". Regards Paul

Also prefer manual handbrake in my modern if you stop completly using the footbrake, not drift to a stop, brake is applied auto release on moving off. On hill starts problem is as soon as you touch the accelerator brake comes off, the other annoyance when parking if you undo seatbelt or open door to check position brake is applied. When changing rear brake pads you have to ask the computers permission then tell it when finished, who's in charge?. Regards Paul

Should we have penalty points for the contributer who started the thread drift. Should we vote on it or has the answer already been decided. Regards Paul

Seen that one before, always liked it. With the cost of travel insurance never seemed sensible to just rely on the EHIC, as to visas there are many none EU contries where British Citizens do not need a visa so will Europe start a tit for tat visa war?. Regards Paul

As I understand it. 2K thinners is best quality. High Gloss for top coat if not using 2K thinners Anti Bloom used in humid conditions or cold, when I sprayed top coat on my Vitesse although I used heaters to increase the temperature in the garage the car body was still cold and ended up with a dull finish, polished out OK, anti bloom should help prevent this. Gun clean cheapest best used for what it says but could be used for primer. Any paint sprayers out there as I am not. Regards Paul

Are the voters who are dying off the same ones who voted to stay in the EU in 1975 and been regretting it ever since?. If we wait as long for another EU membership referendum I will have long since dropped of my perch, or is it soapbox. Regards Paul

Are talking heads self important or experts?, we are where we are because of experts i.e drips under pressure. Talking to a chap from Ireland in a pub the other day, he said he voted remain, who expressed the view that Ireland would follow us out. Hell of a thread if this continues for twenty more years. Regards Paul

Still not changed the battery as during the recent cold spell, minus temperatures, no messages about low battery. A meter shows a reading of just over twelve volts which is a bit low. One thing to be careful of on a battery suppliers website if I put in cars registration number it suggest a different battery than if you enter the model and engine. Regards Paul

Never used additives, always believed that the better the claimed improvement the only improvement was to the suppliers pocket Sometimes think I am wrong. Did not have an endowment mortgage so can not claim. Never took ppi on loans so can not claim Do not have a diesel car, when advised by government to do so. Must be others. Please add to list. Is there no escape even on a car forum from those who want to stay tied to an organisation who's idea of democracy is to keep having votes till they get the " correct answer". Regards Paul

Do use the premium unleaded, more expensive, but nearer to what was available when car was new, my car runs so much better on it. I have a Mk1 2L with overdrive get late twenties on a run, got over thirty when running in new rings and bearings, round town don't like to think about it. All the best for the trip. Regards Paul

SIP Compressor blowing breaker long before pressure is reached.
68vitesse replied to Colin Lindsay's topic in Tools
I have a SIP airmate direct drive V twin 3 hp compressor which is sluggish to start in cold weather and sometimes blows its trip on startup. Once started and its warmed up no problems for rest of the day, currently using macbine mart compresser oil. If the compressors trip is blowing it must be faulty or the motor is faulty and drawing to much current, do you have a meter which will show the amps the motor is drawing?. Presumably you have checked that the motor or pump are not partially siezed, as your compressor seems to be belt drive have you run the motor without the belt to see if it still trips?. Removed a 13/60 bonnet top to use on a Vitesse bonnet rebuild, just need to decide which bits to keep and which to sacrifice. Regards Paul

Looking at your pictures have you used grease to hold things in place on assembly?. I have always used petroleum jelly as l understand it melts into the oil. Regards Paul
