My experience, on this topic(!), is the same as Pete's and the only time I could not re-use a gasket was was own fault. Dick

Eric, Try giving Spitbitz a call in your search for parts. The link has some clues and a telephone number. Dick http://www.spitbitz.co.uk/html/used_parts.html

Might be worth a scan through CJ Autos products for some alternatives that may be more cost effective. I used a couple of their products for many years and no problem with quality. Dick https://cjautosheywood.co.uk/

I have been using Gumtree for some time, not least because it's free. I initially thought I would get little reaction and just local but have been surprised by the distance some will travel, and the ability to negotiate how to pay and post is useful. Dick

Aid', Back 🙂 to your question I have 175/70/R13 on my Revolutions; Toyo Nanoenergy courtesy of Black Circles Dick

The filter looks identical to the one I have, courtesy of the TSSC shop 15 years ago, and provided you do not go mad will strip and clean easily. Dick

Correct and while at it, may be an optical illusion, but the hose from the pipe to the filter seems to reduce markedly restricting fuel supply. I had some similar symptoms in the GT6 and peering inside the tank found a piece of plastic film/bag floating around which would sometimes block the outlet pipe. Dick

Mike Papworth's your man. Details in the The Courier, or in the 'non-specific parts for sale' on the Home page. He's in Coventry so not too far from you. https://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/classifieds_final.asp?classified_ID=233 Dick

See JohnD's comment above for starters. Dick

Second Graham's recommendation. Found them invaluable restoring the GT6 and working on a variety of old Land Rovers. Dick

Needs to get some fuel if the gauge is to be believed' but maybe 'breaking down' is part of the plan...... I know, don't go there.

Iain, I have been couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it; I was as invited to run the GT6 at the next event and then COVID struck. IIRC there was an article in The Courier not too far back but cannot for the life of me remember by who, but sure it was one of the Register Secretary's. Dick

Colin, I did exactly the same thing, once, having restored the car and rebuilt the original engine nearly twenty years ago. Why, to prove I had done it right. Unfortunately, after this years Classic Le Mans trip just waiting to pull the engine and sort out what I believe to a main bearing issue! Oh well, after about 40,000 miles can't complain.

Steve, What car, what sort of exhaust?
-
Roger, Just checked on the original cylinder head fitted to my engine and and couple of spares, that dowel is 1/2" (12.5mm) long and the nut is accessible with a socket. Out with the cutter is probably easiest as the head is now very stable. Dick

I have and no complaints at all. Happened to be passing once and collected in person, which resulted in a pleasant chat and more expenditure! Dick -
Lincolnshire newbie looking for carb set up and tune.

On the TSSC Home Page there is a Section on Area which shows one for Lincolnshire. Dick https://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/areas_final.asp?area_ID=15&area=Midland, Lincolnshire -
I have left my GB sticker in the rear window and use a magnetic UK one when required. What was intriguing waiting for ferries to/from Classic Le Mans were the number (over half) of cars with no country designator at all on display. Dick

Just back from a great weekend, in spite of a bit of drizzle, it being cooler than the previous nine I have been to and an engine that seems to have decided a front crank bearing is a optional extra; oh well. A big thank you to Chris G, Bern and Lisa among others for all your tireless efforts to make Tetre Rouge campsite the place to be , just a pity that motor homes seem to have become more prevalant and being a bit inconsiderate with their parking and 'modern' classics and exotica almost outdoing the Triumphs. Roll on 2025. Dick

Bernd has just hit exactly the same issue as I had on my GT6. Looked to change fans on mine from the tired 7 blade (Mk3 GT6) one on there at the moment. The 308353 arrived, with Paddocks having an inkling there had been a problem with the early cars but could not remember exactly what. The Bahstuck 308353 8 blade fan is 20mm deeper than the original and on mine this reduced the clearance between the fan and the radiator core to 9-10mm and to the mounting frame around the core to 5-6mm. I reckoned this to be too close for comfort, Paddocks glad to have my findings detailed in a letter. The thinner (by how much?) spacer from the Mk2 Vitesse engine is probably the way to go if in doubt. Dick

Yes me. I used Blackcircles last for four new tyres on the GT6. Price was more than competitive, choice of about four or five local fitters and all went quickly and well. No complaints and will use again. Dick

'Swinging the lead' infers loafing about/shirking work, whereas 'Swinging the lamp' is story telling (true/false/somewhere in between). Getting withdrawl symptoms here, but despite having left 'active' service 16 years ago, and duties as an Admiralty Trials Master about 9 years ago I still appear to be in demand mentoring senior warfare courses; for free but they do buy me a drink and lunch. Dick

Sure the seafarers among us have nautical tales that few would understand/believe and in a language /dialect beloved of those of us who lived that life. 'Swinging the lamp' a pastime much enjoyed over a tot or two. John, if I remember and have room I'll pop mine in the back of the GT6 and you can have a practice at Tetre Rouge. Dick

Quite clearly the heat is having an effect; Blackcircles it is. Dick

Another vote for Blacklines. Dick
