  1. I reckon Kevin forgot to put 50p in the meter ready for the weekend.
  2. That is a Bell system, known for being louder than most other twin box systems. Rear boxes are the smallest I think.
  3. Replied, need to pop outside with a ruler tomorrow. 🙂
  4. Pete, have you got any of the headlining left? I need to do a Herald estate as the existng one is brown corduroy.
  5. Type 12? Change to type 14 as cheaper and better. Direct fit I beleive.
  6. Hs4 are big enough, as the are 1.5 inch, same as CD150 which was fitted to later Vitesse 6 Plenty of needles avail, but the rolling road I said where you would need to start as no idea of starting point for SU needles on a1600. Finding the correct HS4 airbox ( from a late T2000) is proving a pain for me at the moment, I keep being offered Stromberg ones, so I am stuck with 2 little chrome pancakes that are messing up the mixture. At least the bent needle has been replaced and the Stromberg gaskets swapped fir SU ones.
  7. You usually have to radically alter the position of the distributor when you fit the module. the car will not run if just fitted, or if it does, bag-a-shite Will be the best you will get
  8. Pretty sure outer one is 1500 fwd, not 1300, which has a rubber doughnut.
  9. Says a man who has clearly never had a big saloon. The Lockheed brake master has a built in airlock facility.
  10. Engine oil can be used successfully in overdrives and gearboxes, I am pretty sure that is what MGB use. not in the diff though
  11. Using EDGE, what were you thinking off Mike??? First sign of insanity apparently.
  12. There are different types/looks of wire wheel as well. Never beeen keen on the skinnier looking ones that tend to have less spokes. Had a set on a spitfire, you could hear the spokes creak and "ping" as you drove along. Luckily the asthmatic engine limited the issue effectively. When I picked up the TR6 it had wires on it, chromed cross-laced ones with lots more spokes than usual. See the same type fitted to Ferraris and such like. After investing a whole day of my life polishing them ( don't forget that bit) I decided to let them stay for a while. Really grown on me I have to admit
  13. I sent you a reply yesterday Jim Let me know If you are interested.
  14. I would say fit sills first and then resin the doors. That way you are only changing 1 part at a time, as you know the door is the right shape before you start.
  15. If you are changing gearbox oil don't put the cover back! unless of course you have cut an access hatch to refill it.
  16. There are loads of 1300 engines about, particularly if you want something to get it going. well there is in my garage... 🙂 Shame you are no where near me.
  17. I was working on a72/73 GT6 today, body number plate was about inch below the big plate, on passenger A-post. Original as far as I can tell.
  18. Would not the threads in the boss act like rifling in a gun barrel and cause the oil to start to spin?
  19. I have the same issues with my TR6, after an oil change it is a nightmare to get oil pressure back. Don't have any issues with 5 other cars all equipped with same centre sprung filter conversion. Various different makes of filter tried, all the same. I gave up after 30 mins of spinning on starter in bursts, including squirting oil into pressure switch, having brimmed new filter. Nothing, so I tried starting it, probably shouldn't have as that didn't work either, and I think I messed up bearings. Oil pressure consistantly 10psi lower now. last three changes I have just removed pedestal, and a couple of minutes with drill and oil pressure returns. And it always comes straight back on any subsequent startup, just not the one after the filter Is changed.
  20. Area they same as big saloon stalks? on them one is screwed to the other which is itself attached to column with a metal clamp. come apart easily.
  21. Just looked at the photo of the car You have US rear lights, the bits round the corners should be Amber, and do not as standard light up at all, even though they have a fitting no behnd them, as the main casting is the same for all models. It is easy to give side rear indicators with the addition of 2 bulbs.
  22. Other oddity I noticed is overdrve knob on gearstick. That Talk Talk album is one of my favourites, and spookily whenI turned radio on this morning, "It's my life" was playing.
  23. Only oddity I spotted was a brown interior in a red car. I guess it wasn't always red.
  24. Isn't the Gt6 clutch common to some fords, certainly transits rings a bell, or perhaps just driven plate. must be able to get a paddle clutch plate of suitable dimensions.
