  1. All Dolomites will be J-type, and as you are looking at an HL, it will be attached to a single rail box. If the car is in excellent condition, that is worth far more in lack of grief than even fitting a rebuilt Overdrive will cost. Negotiate a little bit off the price. Cheers Colin
  2. the one I have has threaded inserts in the rack to allow it to be bolted on as well the brackets do work it set right. keep an eye on how muh weight you put on th rack. cheers colin
  3. HC is also Mk1 Vitesse, the numbers are important to determine which. Cheers
  4. Mat One of the traders used to do new bonnets for Mk1/2, not sure if they still do. Would possibly have been Chic Doig or TD Fitchetts. Will hurt, but also save all the pain of a rebuild. any 2nd hand one will be just as rotten as yours as the good ones are fitted to cars! I may be able to assist with someone to rebuild your rotten bonnet, but depends how far gone. The grills ISTR are the poop of the rocking horse. Cheers Colin
  5. I had an FC with the brass plate now sold to a CT member to tune and fit to his Herald The plate should also tell you bearing and bore sizes. Chances 1450 was the original engine number
  6. A dissy drive from a PI car is very useful, minus the cam drive cog.
  7. I and a number of others have found to our cost is that 2000 doors are "made to fit" and so rarely fit what attached to different cars. Cheers Colin
  8. A modern car would probably be a write off, but an old Triumph? Dry it out quickly carefully and replace all fluids. If left in a pound for weeks or even months whilst the insurers argue over what is going to happen........
  9. I know this car has now been sold, as I helped to unload it from a van... :-) Perhaps this was the best place to advertise it.... :-)
  10. Don't forget to disconnect the handbrake cable.....
  11. I wonder which grids they will cut to allow time fro the Group C cars? Perhaps drop to 2 races per grid that are a bit longer? Drop a race for just the older cars?
  12. Mike It might be worth trying one of the devices designed to be used with CANBUS type wiring in modern cars. They sense a voltage but do not load a circuit and then trigger outputs fed from a 12v supply. I am not recommending this specific one, but it should give you an idea. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANBUS-7-WAY-SMART-MULTIPLEX-RELAY-BYPASS-RELAY-BMW-TOWBAR-BYPASS-RELAY-/371181287111?hash=item566c20f6c7:g:72cAAOSwLa9UWQfR Some of them also have a sqwarker in them to provide the additional tell-tale needed. Cheers Colin
  13. Assuming that the guys at HQ manage to arrange the normal setup. Additional portable shower block / toilet block, giving about 10 showers and 10 toilets I think. Communal area for members with televisions showing things... Burger van (Sounds bad, it isn't, the guys who ran it the last 2 times work like dogs and the food is really good) Security on gate to hopefully keep riff-raff out. Own access gate into circuit (well one not really used by anyone else, but it could be) Good viewing from the communal area. Being inside the track it only take a few minutes and you are alongside the track or at the Dunlop Bridge. Cheers Colin
  14. I think that is OK, but await further answers
  15. Pictures as promised. Wings are shot, but top panel is very good. I also have a 13/60 chassis that might donate main rails if needed. Cheers Colin TSSC Suffolk AO
  16. I thought it was suspended below the dashboard?? There should be some above the pockets in the rear as well I think
  17. Ouch! I am guessing there is as big bend in the chassis under the engine. Cheers Colin -tssc suffolk ao P.s. I have a good second hand bonnet top looking for a new home.
  18. Is a "long" manifold a different manifold to the standard item? (I know little about TR's) If it is akin to rocking horse poop, I would try someone like Tony Sheach who is a magnet for all things rare and interesting TR-wise. (I can assist with contact details, but not publically) If it is a standard fit, then somewhere like TRGB should be able to assist. Cheers Colin
  19. You could try Citric Acid. Buy it in boxes from Ebay. Regularly used as a cutting agent for Heroin and such like. Cheers Colin
  20. The dizzy may have moved up and come out of contact with the offset slot in the top of the drive, BTDT.
  21. Price, and lots of people do not want to drive too far, so going into Le Havre / Cherbourg / Caen gives a shorter route. Me, I do the tunnel or Newhaven Dieppe. Cheers
  22. There will be a little tiny hole in the pulley at TDC. The it is 1 or 1.5mm per degree round the outside. Measure the pulley circumference, it will be about 240 or 360mm
  23. You have to remember that FJ are owned by a large multi-national company with greedy shareholders to satisfy. PJ isn't. I added Class1 to my multivehicle policy with PJ at negligible extra cost so I can use one of the cars if my modern is being serviced, saves me hiring a car for the day. Cheers Colin
