  1. when refurbing my carbs, I don't have a sand blaster but thought I might get a small parts washer. They retail for about forty five quid for a small one, and second hand not much cheaper, so I thought ill make one, it will only have limited use as I don't think ill have too much to clean. The best bit for me its free as I had all the bits. 1 old sink basin, one celebration xmas sweet plastic box, (any plastic box), one mx5 windscreen washer pump, piece of 6mm plastic hose pipe, an old bedside lamp switch and two crocodile clips. I drilled holes in the bottom of the sweet box , also two holes in the side to clamp the pump too. tie rap the pump to the side of the sweet box, turn the box upside down and put in the basin. I wired the switch to the pump wires, and then fitted another two wires from the switch and fitted the croc clips. push the 6mm pipe to the pump outlet, filled basin with cleaning fluid, croc clips to battery (doesn't matter which way they go.) flick the switch and the pump works champion. Note in the pic the mx5 pump is well insulated so the cleaning fluid wont short it out, some other pumps have visible terminals and would be no good for this. is this ok for a blue peter badge? 😂
  2. Hello Ian. Thanks for that. I'm not home now but I'll check the size tomorrow. I imagine it'll be the same. I'll send you a message. Thanks again and happy new year. Its for a 150cdse from a gt6.
  3. Thanks Pete. Rimmers want a tenner plus vat and delivery. I'll wait. Might fall in lucky.
  4. Thanks for that. I thought it would save muck getting in but I bow to your experience. I'll have a look at rimmers too.
  5. Thanks but they don't have in stock. I'll be more than happy with an old second hand one if anyone has for sale.
  6. Does anyone have one of the cream plastic covers for these little units. One of mine is missing and ebay only has ones from the u. S. A (expensive) or an old nact carb with one on. I don't want to go to the expence of buying another set of carbs
  7. hi conor, great stuff, the bulkhead repair shape is a difficult one to make, I had similar on both sides and am gonna revisit one of them. your door gaps and bonnet fit are very good indeed, its a good feeling knowing that's ok, I know what a boost it gave me when I trial fitted my steel bonnet for the first time when I saw the gaps they too were great, well done and keep the pics coming , all the best for 2019.
  8. luckily in both mine the puncture can and compressor sit in a big polystyrene slab that I can lift out and put a spare, my cars are of older design and still have a spare wheel well. I guess new car designs the floor will be flat and therefore more difficult to carry a spare.
  9. First thing I do with my modern is get a spare. The new way sucks
  10. fantastic looking motor more pics please. welcome to the forum . happy xmas
  11. There is movement if you loosen the body bolts however you will also move the gap to bonnet. You don't say if you have rotoflex or not. I think rotoflex have adjustable tie rods. Maybe they are different and could adjust a wee bit. Not an inch though and i think they may only adjust camber. IF you moved the tub to equal the wheels then you would have to re adjust the bonnet.
  12. Xmas pudding surely at this time of year!! 🤣
  13. on old 4 cylinder p6 rovers you could get the gearbox back in by lying down with the gearbox on your chest upside down , lift up and fit to engine, when aligned turn box 180 deg. the box would not fit conventional as the starter housing would foul, but not upside down. great fun, who needs yoga???
  14. Morning, whilst browsing ebay I found a gt6 for sale, heres a pic of the engine bay, I wondered whats in the box arrowed, I thought cover for coil or sparkright electronic ignition but surely it would've made the coil hot and same for sparkright if that. any ideas? Sorry theres no definitive answer.
  15. Thanks men I'll check it out. I have spares so I'll be servicing one to use. The others are all 3.63 so I need to confirm the original and go from there. About the only spare I don't have is a gearbox so here's hoping the original is OK.
  16. I only think it 3.27 as the number was kc and 3.89 was kd. It may not be original of course. It'll be coming out and I'll decide whether to service and use it or use a spare 3.63 that I have.
  17. hi johny thanks for that, ill check it out. when I blow up the diff no. on the bottom it doesn't look like its been stamped over. also the what I thought was the engine number must be the head number as I found the engine number on the other side (distributor side) this would be then the same as the log book and heritage cert. ive just took the body off so for me interesting to look at these things.
  18. thankyou for the info had a look under and it looks like KC 30349 that would make it a 3.27:1 diff which I believe is correct.
  19. Thanks for that chaps. looks like its the recessed head, and is it a three or single rail gearbox? first pic tab at the back of the head doug. diff no is third pic looks like R51597 might be a faint F in front the R but very faint or imagination. 4th and 5th where I am at now.
