  2. cant wait to see it. To be honest, the thread is bound to be better than the article !

  8. rotor is standard BBC. good clean spark. I am starting to think its time to do a compression test. Yrs ago when I first bought it, It had a sticky valve. The AA would regularly towstart me. It fired instantly then. I am on a leaded head and have done over 40k on it. Maybe, its time.....
  9. exactly Pete, thats why I raised mine 25mm. Also with all the sound proofing it digs in more. But on a CV they easilyclear the b pillars ( unlike my standard seats which rub.)
  10. Thanks, Ikinda knew you would be first in Pete ! I ts in the herald, so no ballast. whats the best way to test the feeds
  11. I have a Mk4 1300 with a simonbbc ignition. standard twin 1 1/4 su carbs. Until I recently, it was an excellent starter , taking a quick spin of the starter and little choke. Now it needs a full battery a good few spins and full choke. I have changed the Plugs, checked the leads, checked the jets are seating. Now I did have it tuned at Donington but it didnt need much really. ideas?
  12. I have them in my Herald. They fit easily but need lifting 25mm.
  13. the gaskets can be remade from neoprene. Cheap neoprene sheet- camping mat. The doughnut will need to be laminated. be careful with the valve. Fitchets have some but they are v expensive.
  14. These are made by long term tssc man Bob Rowland. He has invested a huge amount of time and effort into these and deserves our thanks. Please support him , as if they sell well, he will possibly make the earlier ones too.He is also proposing 13/60 cowls.

    fouled plug

Went on a weekend away to lake vyrnwy. Clocked up 250 miles of quite varied motoring up some big hills. Performed well. This weekend I intend to check the plugs. I have noted an increased need to use full choke this year. The choke sticks if it's pulled on full.
  19. always had stitched. Usually disappointed with the fit around the gearbox tunnel , but always much cheaper and better quality carpet.. I also add plenty of soundproofing , and I understand the moulded ones dont appreciate the extra padding.

    fouled plug

not oily. Quite dry carbon. It was tuned at triumfest and wasnt noticed then....Odd. Dizzy is a fairly new simonbbc.
  21. bought a stainless cable from Halfords still using the same outer cable, and a really neat little nipple ( looks like a barrel , screw is hidden) from ebay. all now good.
  22. IIRC when I had a failed Halfshaft, Fitchets had a complete assembly for about £200.00 Includes brake drum etc. Took about 2 hrs to swap. doddle.

    typical......

So this weekend we are off to North wales in my super reliable Herald. Last week the accelerator was a bit sticky . Checked it and noticed the cable was frayed . Only lasted 25 yrs!! So decided to take the opportunity to also swap the pedal as I had a good old one. Gulp ! The old was only just hanging on at the pivot . So it just shows, how lucky I was that the cable frayed, otherwise I could have been up a mountain with a jammed cable, and a non existant pedal pivot. Hand throttle anyone?
