  2. So.....I jump into the 1200 and turn the key. Nothing.... So.....I swap the battery assuming I had let it go flat......Nope still no ignition lights So....I push the solonoid button. YAY it spins....... Get the Bond out and go on a family weekend to the Peak district. Tomorrow I start diagnosing. I will first check whether I have power to the Ignition switch. I do have a spare ignition switch to try. Any other pointers ?
  3. Agreed. Between 500/800. The v 5 shouldn't be an issue unless the chassis plates missing.
  4. also there is adjustment on the hinges. Try removing the seals. and slackening the hinges on the door ( You must open the door to see the countersunk screws ) The quarterlight is also adjustable. .....
  5. on my Bond, I have some1980s shelf speakers on the parcel shelf. work well.Herald has them in the doors as described above. Also work hidden in the rear pockets
  6. Rd fitchetts do a good heavy duty tread plate.
  7. I have used neoprene off eBay with some success. And the old fashioned felt backed with rubber from car shows.
  8. Will take a look. But iirc 1/2 inch x. 8 pan heads should do it. In a captive spire clip
  9. The choke is tricky to find, took me about four years !
  10. take it off and bench test it. Theres really not much to go wrong!
  11. halfords or similar , sell a plastic moulded radio tray. fix it under dash and put a support strap at the back. Have two fitted, cheap and effective. this sort of thing.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seat-Ibiza-Mk-3-02-09-Black-Underdash-Tray-Single-DIN-Car-Radio-Fitting-/131125166214?hash=item1e87ab4086:g:zKYAAOSwD0lUdPSY

  15. a restoration will always cost morethan the value. However many will be prepared to do it for themselves. Whats your location? theres bound to be a local club.
  16. I Just saw your post on facebook. same rules apply , so that may be removed too. Its the libel society. I agree that its useful to know who the bad traders are ... I work as a builder . 90 percent of jobs and clients are OK . The bad ones are the ones who tarnish it , and make me want to give up. I guess i am trying to say a little mud sticks.

  18. also consider using the better exhaust clamps as used on competion cars. Not U bolts.
  19. i have a mountney 13 inch iirc on my 1200 and a standard Vitesse wheel on my Bond( the Les Lestons being sorted ) I put the 1200 one on in the eighties. Love the look but seriously considering a Vitesse wheel as its so much more relaxing. Power steering would be a last resort.
  20. yup its pretty easy, , I am sure someone must have a picture.
  21. my herald ones are supposed to be held on with elastic. However by removing the one cowl screw they fit beautifully behind the cowl.
  22. Often considered this on the Bond ( same as 2000 set up ) as theres a significant dimness . I will first sort out the lack of power. Did your sum include all 4 ?
  23. I once did a long lasting "Bodge" fitting a metal valve cap ( with rubber sealing washer fitted ) onto the end of the push rod. Lasted for years until i changed the pivot bush on the MC.
