christopher brooks
Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the fiber floor panels for a GT6
dougbgt6
I got plywood from B & Q. I used the originals as templates and transferred the metal parts. No need to get the same thickness board, thicker will fit and less likely to sag. Bit more difficult if you haven't got the originals. Maybe make cardboard templates and if you transfer the shapes to thick enough board you won't need the supporting piece down the middle. The two "bayonet" connectors for the panel above the spare tyre are increasingly difficult to find and you may have to use bolts like the panel above the fuel tank. Colin Lindsay
You'll have to make sure any replacement will fit into the supporting clips around the edges. This narrows you down to a thinner replacement than desirable, I used thin ply painted black, but stuck horizontal reinforcing strips to the underside to support any weight. trigolf
Fellow club member, Nigel Clark, might be along soon. He did an article for Practical Classics recentley on his GT6
dougbgt6
Yes, I painted mine matt black. My clippy bits were at the back only, they can be prised open a bit, or replaced with wider. Doug Edited April 29, 2023 by dougbgt6

Nigel Clark
I used 9mm MDF to make new boot boards for my GT6 Mk3, detailed recently in my staff car saga in Practical Classics magazine. Nigel

dougbgt6
I've seen this before, the space under the extended luggage floor becomes a secret storage area once the seats are back in. A neat idea! Doug

A neat idea! Standard GT6 as far as I am aware. Unless you have an occasional rear seat (as if!) I still have my original front section and tank cover. The wheel cover section has been replaced in ply, thinned down locally to fit into the rear clips. My tool box and 'travel' socket set live very nicely on the drivers side. A neat idea! Doug The extended luggage floor shown in the article was factory stock on this Mk2. (GT6+, actually.) dougbgt6
I learn something new every day on here! I know very little about Triumphs, just the late GT6 mk3. D|oug
