We are not worthy....

These guys deserve more attention and support than they are getting from Triumphworld.

In a Herald Estate, they are driving the Mongol Rally from London to Ulan Ude - yes, I had to look it up.  It's a city on the eastern side of Lake Baikal, over 5,000 miles away in Russia.  It's as far east from London as Hanoi in Viet-Nam.

Their Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/mongoltriumph/?hc_ref=ARQoqhKGSauUmg8Lm_29cfG44RE7V46YaWQFJoKjmYOpqpp1kXU9UfF7LumWYoWHl4o&fref=nf

You can follow their progress at http://track.mongoltriumph.com/

Today they are due to enter Iran - these guys are nothing less then intrepid!  I've done some endurance drives in the past, to Greece and back, the 10CR etc, but I  am as the dust in their wheel tracks - this is an epic Triumph drive!

I gave up on that magazine years ago, but the entire trip doesn't appear to have been very well publicised anywhere.

Perhaps we'll only get to read about in on their return? They appear to be doing it on their own, rather than getting sponsorship or help (or have I missed that bit?)

I sent boxes of spares and various donations to other enterprises over the years, that either never even started, or simply disappeared....

It seemed a bit touch and go at the start of the year, when the car looked like this...

The trip itself (and car) is entirely self-funded, we only ask for donations to charity (Macmillan and Cool Earth), you can donate here:

Thanks for the kind words, we're taking a rest day today, and crossing our fingers the car can stand the heat as its 35c today in Yerevan but it'll be 40c in Iran and Turkmenistan. Heater on perhaps...

I certainly will - I was totally unaware of this trip until John posted it, and it's definitely worth supporting, as are the good causes! Good luck guys and keep us updated.

They've made it to Samarkand - SAMARKAND! - a name of legend among far travellers since Marco Polo! - and past that to somewhere on the border between the Afghan- and Tjiki-stans.   Next stop, CHINA!

http://track.mongoltriumph.com/

The map shows only straight lines between way points, not the actual route, which in this part of the world must be the wiggly line of all wiggly lines.

Thinking of you, guys,  mainly in envy!
