  1. I just click on the button 'TSSC Website' but then have saved the forum to bookmarks, so I just click the bookmark and come straight here.
  2. Spitfire pedals are larger than Herald pedals, but as you say, it limits the space between and you can inadvertently press two at once.
  3. Push power initially, but after the bodywork repairs it now drives all by itself... but just up and down the garage, and into the fresh air for a wash. The garage is quite dusty and half of the world's population of large flies is hanging off the ceiling - I dare not leave the doors open or they'll swarm in. No idea if it's the LED lights, or the white painted walls and ceilings, that attracts them, but there are millions. Then they die and drop off, into my tool boxes or onto fresh paint... hate them!
  4. Sometimes the oil has to fill the filter first after changing, so you'll have longer to wait before it goes out. I've never had to prime a pump, otherwise than when a new one was fitted. I'd be tempted to say try again, and give it a second or two longer.
  5. Oh Gawd. I've to leave early tomorrow for some event or other in Comber, daughter and friend will 'socially distance' around a course and over a few jumps while I sleep in the car. I'm only going as she can't tow the horse trailer. I keep telling her that my hobby doesn't make her get up early or cause stress pulling a trailer, but that counts for nowt.
  6. I've put £20 of diesel in mine since March. It would have been less but last week I took the head-staggers and went out on a nice coastal run, so that used up quite a bit. The Gt6 has covered about 30 feet since August 2018...
  7. Better. These ones I found took two tins of diet coke and one sore neck.... dozens of switches but none of the rear! You can see the purple wires, but not how they connect; they may be spade connectors, but they're going to be a nightmare to reach without taking the entire thing off. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-SPITFIRE-1500-RHD-INDICATOR-STEERING-COLUMN-STALK/324202988735?hash=item4b7c0104bf:g:kIQAAOSwpZVe6-rK I've found one on which the headlamp flash is broken but all else works, for 99p it might be worth a punt as you can probably make one from the two...
  8. The problem is that I suspect that may be a Spitfire 1500 spring; 5 leaves, ok, but different to the proper GT6 spring. The GT6 spring has 5 leaves too , but is actually softer than the Spitfire spring. I had one on my early GT6 and it was terrible, so obtained a NOS GT6 MK3 swing spring and that transformed the handling. I'm wondering if the bottom leaf is actually thicker thereby causing the lift; but having said that, this would mean that GT6 diff cases would have to be different to Spitfire cases to accommodate the shallower spring, and that's not the case. I'm almost certain that mine sat like that, too, when I first did the conversion, and caused no trouble.
  9. WHICH area? Does it affect his steering? Or just his column?
  10. The horn push is on the end of the stalk; that centre one is from a different model so a bit of a red herring. Look at where all of the other cables from that stalk go to; you'll see a terminal with nothing there, or the remains of a broken connector in a hole that seems to do nothing. That'll be the one. Any chance of a better photo?
  11. I've seen them like that before; I know from experience not to say "they're all like that" but they may be... as long as the bottom leaf is securely clamped it's fine.
  12. I've found a Baking Chemist that will probably make chips if asked... http://thebakingchemist.blogspot.com/2012/07/cocolate-chip-cheescake-bars.html
  13. It will certainly feel heavier than a modern - no power steering - and especially at low speeds, but things like wider wheels and tyres or a smaller steering wheel will also contribute.
  14. I almost bought a Fiat a few years back, but power steering wasn't working... owner claimed it just needed the fluid topping up and offered to throw in a free tin. Problem is that it was an electric system... But that sort of system just works off an electric motor geared to the steering column: http://simonebirchall.co.uk
  15. I'm not going on holidays, nor going out for coffee any more, and still can't afford a lathe...
  16. I'll have a look, if they're the same as Herald 13/60 I definitely have two but no idea of condition. Wait one and I'll report back... Searched the garage, found four pairs of 1200 fronts but no 13/60 as yet, yet I know I have a pair. even checked my eBay history in case I'd sold them, but no... will look again later when the temperature of the roofspace goes down to three figures.
  17. Lovely, but for that sort of money I'd want the steering wheel on the correct side... Nice to see a Portuguese one, must be my first!
  18. Three PERVIOUS owners??? 😮 Didn't think they got that sort of person in Glasgow.
  19. My last sump plug was NCP... I found it in a car park....
  20. Looks like one large plate and the sad thing is that whilst the other stalk is simply bolted to it, and may be removable on it's own, the horn push doesn't seem to have any bolts, unless it's just clipped on?
  21. I had one of those in the Herald sump; seized solid and a bu&&er to remove. I just couldn't get leverage with the allen key.
  22. I would have said gloss black, but a quick internet search has revealed both black and silver (not to mention red and blue....) Mike Costigan's book shows both black and silver, but Graeme Robson's shows only black. I suspect it's an age-related thing; possibly early cars with the large filter box were black and then to modernise later models, they became silver? Vitesse owners, come to the rescue!
  23. I've had to do a quick read on this one; they're attached to a large metal plate that the column goes through, so not easy to remove, and if the bumf is correct then RHD versions have been unavailable for years with only a lot of NOS LHD versions for sale - the idea being you just swap the metal plate over. I can't see the rear of the plate but I'm hoping there's a bullet terminal or the like that you can at least attach the wire to - hold a small mirror in behind and look for the other end of the purple cable or a pin that nothing goes to. You may, if there's enough spare cable, be able to strip part of that one and solder it to the terminal. A good auto-electrician will be able to repair it for you.
  24. Purple is horn, if I remember correctly (it is on Heralds anyway); you'll have to identify the other end of it, or the terminal it's meant to connect to, and that's where it goes. Sorry, I know that sounds simplistic, but I'd like to think that if you inspect the end of the horn stalk at the column it'll be obvious enough. Hopefully!
