  1. Plays havoc with the Wardroom bill?, Sounds about right, Most trawler men where disinclined to discipline, Even during WW2, When mine sweeping, they would put out a Trawl, much to the chagrin of the R-N bodies!. Not the first nor last time they had to cut one with a Mine in it!. Pete

I have a liking for Jeans as casual wear. I find that the quality of those produced for the UK are vastly inferior to the denim I get from the USA and under the same branding too?. This applies to a lot of "basic" clothing too. Pete
  6. Hereabouts we don't have an "area" the nearest being North Yorks. Well over an hours drive for me. So I guess not a material fact. But having "done time" on Caravan section committees in the past, there seems to be a "Hard Core" with a need for "organisation" those who will, and those who wont, or have to be pressed. I`m very much afraid that in later life I`ve become one of the latter. One has to have appreciation though for those who do take up volunteer posts. Pete

There a good chance that if you look at the label, even from The USofA. it will be labeled "Made in China".๐Ÿคฃ. Wonder if they have a US site?. Pete

Bottle gas is usually Butane/Propane, "Land fill" is (largely) methane. All have different C-V`s, not all are suitable for Propulsive/heating purposes. Back in the 90`s, I put out of service two steam boilers which where less than 2 years old. The heating surfaces where so badly corroded they had become Dangerous. This was the effect of the Acid produced when burning Raw Methane Bio-fuel. The Cheese Makers concerned almost went out of business. In the context of current use most of the gas supplied at the pumps is Propane, and has been treated prior to liquefying. Pete
  11. Garage won`t stay that clean for long!. Welcome back to the Mad world of Triumphing. I sometimes thing it`s a case of "Abandon hope (or Sanity) all ye who enter". ๐Ÿคฃ Pete
  12. Best on the old concrete road surfaces. We had huge slabs making up the school "playground" they where brilliant!. Pete
  13. Do you pass the port to the right or left?, never could remember?. Pete
  14. No, the "wheel kickers", where the one`s who pulled you in your ratty old passion wagon, and proceeded to kick tyres and list all the things wrong before issuing a caution about not exceeding the limit? and getting the "noisy" Exhaust fixed. Luckily in the days before breathalyzers where though of๐Ÿ™. Pete
  15. In my case it became clear once I got the 13/60 back in the garage, that the repairs to the chassis where more than first thought. So removal of the Tub`s became inevitable to gain proper access. "How Long" the process takes is dependent upon the amount of time available, if DIY, as in my case, or the depth of pockets, if you hand it to the Trade/Professional. I started in Nov 2015, and it has been a sporadic journey ever since, often not getting any work done for weeks, then periods of intense activity, again 99% DIY based. Mostly around current physical ability and the "caring" duties plus a desire to still travel and use the Camper, which is my wife's "love". It will get finished, when?, I suppose it`s a case of "how long is a piece of string". But as my "old man" would have said, "keeps you out the pubs and off street corners". And I`m not just sat watching the "Magic Lantern" during daylight hours as many of my retired colleagues do/did, beats "waiting for god", that`s for sure. Pete

The by product of Anaerobic digestion, or the natural biodegrading of Waste matter is any of various varieties of Methane. The waste matter produced is a slurry devoid of oxygen which is lethal to plant and animal life. Pete
  21. The "Bangers and Cash" effect?.

    LPG

One of the Biggest issues with Methane fuel from waste. Is it`s High Sulfur content which necessitates it being "scrubbed" before it can be used in I-C engines and or Burnt in Boilers. To bring it to a C-Value acceptable for the National Gas grid it is most often "Sweetened" with Propane.

    LPG

LPG "conversions" are/where very popular with the UK American Vehicle owners, For obvious reasons of fuel cost. It is calculated the the "MPG" is reduced to about 90% of Petrol. But the cost/litre is/was so different as to make it economically viable. A commercial conversion Circa 2003 was estimated to be 2 to 3K on a V8 or V10. Chevy or Ford. Most Issues with incorrect fueling are allegedly linked to the Gas control management system. Pete

    Oil consumption

In "wet sump" vehicles, having the oil level too high can allow the rotating parts to entrain oil mist, increasing oil consumption, often not sufficient to show as "oil smoke". In large marine engines, dry sump, poor scavenging of the sump has been known to fuel crankcase explosion, if a Bearing runs hot. Pete
  25. Looks a neater job than Mine!!. But I fabricated all but the Floor pan from scratch, using a bench vise, angle iron, and hammers on a "sand" bag. 2 - 8x4 sheets of steel!. Not knowing the Bit`s where available. Hence much scruffier, but Strong. Currently having fun repairing Cill`s and fitting those to get alignment with the doors and shut lines. It`s all steel but I am afraid the there could be a lot more filler involved to get a smooth finish!!.๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Seam Sealer is good?, and should keep any moisture out. P.S. second the idea of putting the rear brake cable in as far as possible before re-uniting the rear tub.๐Ÿ‘ Pete
