Right! That`s me Lost!. Playing instruments is not in my ??? anything??, really. My youngest can (could). Me useless!!. I admire those who can, although many of those I did admire have as we tend to say "Crossed the bar". Very sad to watch Glen Campbell`s last concert. Maybe he shouldn't have done it?. But despite his affliction the magic was still there in the musicianship if not his ability to remember the words. RIP. Pete.

The story of many a Petrolheads life?.😭 And likely the reason why so many "Greybeards" finish up on these forum too?. Pete
  4. Because I`ve had a "personal issue" that has kept me out of the garage this last week. I had a couple of days "binging" the T-V. Amongst it a whole series of Bangers and Cash. What was most interesting, apart from the eclectic selection of vehicles, was the prices many expected for their vehicles, Some nice stuff fetching fair prices but few actually reaching the reserve?. but the odd one would go mental?. But the Farmer, with up to 200 cars in his barns,????? (Shakes Head) "I like "evo`s"" (He`s got 6!!!) Pete
  5. I can tell you the CB is a Herald box. Mine is CB22**** in 1971 reg 13/60 Convertible. Pete
  6. Folk thinking "Rareity Value" = High Price?. That 12/50 is In my view a typical example?. Pete
  7. Failing to Dipp??. Hereabouts, it has always seemed confined to BMW`s/Audi`s OR small SUV`s driven by? Errrrrr Young "ladies"?. I sat alongside my oldest graddaughter one time, she said the cars are flashing at me?. Errrr? Yes? might have to do with you being on Main beam?. Thinking about swapping sides, It`s usually more a question of the heat of battle where the wrong decision is made?. Over the years I have managed to drive just about anything on wheels, or tracks, for that matter. Manual/Auto, LH/RH drive swapping from one to the other with no issues. Pete

    LIDL/ALDI TOOLS

AS said, My "go to" is always the "shop" compressor too even if I have to attach several extensions to get there. But when your on site it`s not always convenient. (unless I have a bloody long hose?😁) That`s when a decent portable comes into it`s own, even a crap one can get you out of "bovver". ie enough air in a tyre to get you off the main road. My (older Fiat) one is capable of putting air in 16" truck tyres, so is the "Ring" one, (pressy from the grand-kids), albeit much slower. Pete

Despite the comment about Lada`s In recent time, I have had 4 Fiat Punto`s in quick succession. (They are ideal, Cheap, cars to fit a drawbar too and tow behind a Motorhome) ALL eventually failed MOT on chassis/welding. But the 1200 16V Engine!, is a real "Pocket Rocket". And has seen more than one "sport car" off. The 1400version is something else!. Pete

    LIDL/ALDI TOOLS

Don`t know, but a guy on one of the Motorhome Websites has one, he bought last year, and reckons it will do Motorhome tyres OK?. If that`s anything to go by Mine are R235/65 R16`s? Pete
  11. You are of course correct. It was a change "forced" on us by the Foreign Manufacturers (Not the EU for once) who wanted not to have to change sides just for a "minority" of countries who drove on the right. Speaking only for the Herald (13/60). I can see it would not be hard to accomplish in order not to have the embarrassment of putting the wrong switch on in the wrong situation?. Pete

Part of the alleged issue with "Russian Steel" was the percentage of "Scrap" which was added to the mix was far greater than was used (say) in the UK, this was thought to make the final steel less stable and more prone to failure and corrosion. Japan and China where supposedly similarly affected during the same period. My son`s Japanese car of the era was like a lace curtain in parts before he scrapped it. I believe Fiat sourced steel from both sources at some point?. Pete

  18. HI The Bulge forward of the Firewall is the "plenum", the heater casing et-al bolts in front of it (item 18 on the Front Body panels diagram). Has a large hole in the bottom front with a rubber flap on it to let water out Pete
  19. That is "un-joined up Britain". Truck drivers life. 56mph to the next traffic jam, then the customer/scheduler is on the cab phone wanting to know why you missed your "slot". Now their all wondering why young guys and gals don't fancy HGV driving?. Pete

Ahh!. Mini`s. Same "A" series, but went like the "proverbial", cornered on rails to the tyre limit, and lived to fight again. Downside? F-All ground clearance on forest stages!. And like Faulty Towers?, "don't mention the exposed distributor in the wet"!!. Pete
  21. Hence (in my case) why the ends keep getting cut off (again). I have flared steel (Fuel) pipe with the Horseshoe clamp device, though it took a couple of attempts, The use of a vise and lots of grease. With Marine HP fuel pipe we cheated somewhat by raising it to "dull red" to anneal before quickly subjecting it to the device, emergency repairs can be problematic at the best of times. In port you send them to the "shop" and get then formed hydraulically. Pete
  22. It`s a simple and largely effective method of keeping (most) of the oil where it should be. I would suspect there would have to be some very large clearances somewhere to create a large oil slick?. The "simple" trick is the sheet of cardboard under the car whilst garaged!. Excess crankcase pressure??. Pete
  23. Didn't I see/hear somewhere that some vehicles had "air flaps" which allowed warm(er) air when cold and then went over to full cold air once the engine warmed up? (Audi? Maybe?) Pete
  24. I am not 100% sure, but most older temp gauges will be bimetallic strips and the current is what heats the strips, the voltage is generally stabilised at about 10V. you would need to measure current in that case?. Pete
  25. HI Was someone asking recently about Herald estate rear windows?. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313733266472?hash=item490bf5bc28:g:f7UAAOSwatdhaaHP Pete
